  1. I get my NFL information from you guys. Some will be flattered, some are scratching your heads. I'm not in "the know" on a lot of things. This time last year, some of you were high on Stefanski. Now I read some of you think the Vikings turnaround is due Kubiak. His resume speaks for itself. I'm not sure if he's a disciplinarian, but he's been around Hall of Famers so he can navigate the egos. Why not Kubiak?
  2. It truly would. ...and so many have so much disdain for Butch Davis.
  3. I never gave an opinion on Haslem. I am disappointed and dissatisfied with the continued losing. None can dispute that feeling. But at least we know who is making the decisions and who can be praised or critiqued.
  4. Another head coach. Another front office shake up. I just want the Brownies to win. But now, there are no ifs or maybes. The Haslams are blowing this up. At the very least, we now know who is fully responsible for every decision. From this point on, they will shoulder the burden or accept the praise for every front office and personnel decision.
  5. Many of the names on this list were in my thought process. 1. Joe Thomas 2. Steve Everitt - a lockdown center next to an All Pro Guard solidifies a quality OL. Mike Baab was a formidable center as well but he didn't wear a Browns bandana as a Raven. 3. Clay Matthews 4. Hanford Dixon/Frank Minnifield - either, it doesn't matter, but a CB that puts the fear of God in a QB. 5. Eric Metcalf/Josh Cribbs - either, it doesn't matter, good teams score Special Teams TDs.
  6. This season has been disappointing so far and while I don't blame anyone for melting down because of how attached we get to the Browns I'd like to take inventory of our situation. 1) Freddie shouldn't be fired because nobody in their right mind would come to a franchise that has has nine formal head coaches and two interim head coaches in the last 20 seasons. Freddie needs to be made to hire an OC. As bone-headed as it's been, I believe it's best to let this play out. He/They could do nothing but fail given the expectations that were set plus the publicity. Honestly, what the hell have we got to lose? 2) Plaster me all you want, but I believe Baker Mayfield gives this franchise it's best shot to win at QB since Bernie. We've tried the QB thing, only 24-25 other times the last two decades. Much like the head coach situation, burning through them hasn't exactly worked. Last year he lived by gambles, this year he's died by gambles. 3) I do believe they are heading towards some difficult/maybe not decisions about where to out money. Too much money is tied up in skill positions and not enough is budgeted for the OL. I expect that will change. They need to place priority picks on offensive linemen. 4) I live in Colt's Country so that's my media market/sports talk radio exposure. Denzel Ward is looking like Bob Sanders. He can make an impact in the field when he's not hurt, but he always hurt. 5) A first year coach and a team if personal brands can make things difficult. A year ago Indianapolis was 1-5 and people were questioning Frank Reich and Chris Ballard. I believe the Brownies will turn this around. This, too, shall pass.
  7. There are more factors than I'll list but I'll offer the 2018 Colts as an example. Frank Reich was a first year coach, that had only been an OC prior to being hired as a head coach. He was not even the Colts first choice. They started 2018 1-6 and things have turned out okay in Indianapolis with less offensive firepower and a significantly stronger offensive line.
  8. Normally this is done over coals but I opted for the easy (lazy) route. I had seven beef back rib bones that got a couple coats of olive oil and rub. I foiled them and left them in a 250° degree oven for five hours, then broiled to get a crust. My only complaint about beef ribs is the amount of flesh. The first two ribs on the shoulder end are nice and meaty. Towards the short loin end, they cut them a little slim...there's so much meat on the prime rib roast a butcher can spare a little less for the roast and more for the ribs.
  9. Grew up eating a lot of cabbage rolls and stuffed peppers. My mom would put chopped chicken livers in the beef/rice mixture that would send them over the top.
  10. The Colts parted ways with their OL coach, who was a McDaniels' hire, as Frank Reich wants "his guy." That OL was piecemeal at the start of the season, lost their RG and was regarded as one of the NFL's better lines. I believe he'd be a good addition if an OL coach is not in place.
