It'll be interesting to see how good Berry and his scouting dept do with their 1st round draft picks since the only ones we've seen are Jed Wills (2020) and Greg Newsome II (2021). If we polled everyone in here about who is the weakest link on the Offensive Line - I have a feeling it would be Jed Wills by a significant margin. While Greg Newsome isn't a bad player per say - Emerson pretty much took his spot on the outside as a rookie (after showcasing he could press WRs on the LOS). When Newsome returned from injury that season - he was frustrated that Emerson stayed outside while he became responsible for covering Slot Receivers that line up off the ball/LOS. Newsome is a good tackler and a smart player so I like having him in our secondary. I'm just saying the jury is still out about how good the current FO is at drafting players in the 1st round. Let's just say I'm noticing why Berry seems to be in his comfort zone signing a lot of FA veterans and/or trading for other veteran players. They're proven players so he doesn't have to deal with growing pains and length of time needed for consistent reliability/productivity. Let's just say I get the sense he trusts what he's paying for.
Because of rookie salary cap restrictions - teams that consistently draft well from top to bottom tend to have healthier salary caps. BTW, every time they showed the Ravens Draft War-room - it sure looked like Ozzie Newsome was still running it for them. He was in there at the head of the table still writing his notes and crossing off selections. Unbelievable. Consequently, it still looks like a lot of very good players always seem to fall to them IMO...
The big mistake with the Jed selection was he was picked because we needed that position. That’s not the way you operate with the 10th pick in the draft. The Previous year we had some struggles on the edges but we also had Baker leaving clean pockets and running into troubles

That was the first time I've seen a guy tackled by throwing his blocker clean into him like that 🤣
Joey Bosa against Penn State I think in 2015. Final play of the game

Hey fellas, hope all is well.
Is he wrong? Ten years is a bit much but take all that draft capital back and think about how different the Browns roster would be. Watson has definitely set you all back but I won't say it's ten years. I don't think that dude will ever be anywhere close to how he was in Houston. He never acts like he wants it. Goes through the motions.
I’ve gone over this with a friend recently. So we keep our pick in 2022 And take Kenny Pickett? What do you think?
Or we find a bridge in 2022 and take Anthony Richardson or Will Levis in 2023? CJ Stroud would have been nice but it would have required 13/14 losses.
We can argue that we could have found a mid late round gem like Brock Purdy…I’m not a total homer let’s be honest we would have found Bailey Zappe or Sam Howell before that happened.
This is certainly not a roster void of talent - and crippled by the loss of draft capital 2/3 years from now who knows but that’s most of the NFL. And if you recall or most on here can recall we’ve had a young or youngish roster prior to the trade that was stocked full of draft picks - if there was a team that needed/could have made this trade it was the Browns

5th round is Lottery ticket at a position where depth is needed. And 4.4 speed.
We could see a ton of roster movement at this position after next season.
-
Situational pass rusher…3rd down get after the QB guy. And depth of course.

Is it me, or are the Stealers having a better FA than we are? Wilson is a clear upgrade over Pickett, and they signed Patrick Queen for 3yr/41 million. Could we have afforded that?
I would give JOK 3yr 35M rather than overpay for Queen

LB is a position group that this front office does not like spending money on.
It will be interesting to see how they deal with JOK as he nears free agency.
If we lose JOK because we extended a guy like Delpit I’ll be upset.

Derrick Henry to the Ravens
This division just doesn't let up
Good. I don’t think he has a lot of tread left on those tires and 700 more carries than a guy like Josh Jacobs who got essentially a one year deal with team options later.

We failed (87% no - it was crushed) both an online betting measure and a casino (tribal casinos reign here) sports book measure last winter in CA. They packaged it with good intentions giving some proceeds to the homeless issues here. Mind you the issue can’t be solved mainly because of the solutions offered. But the resounding message was passing it would make people homeless. The propaganda against it pointed directly at the folks with impulse control issues. Nevermind the folks who bought homes 5,10,20 plus years ago that are sitting on a ton of equity and pay their taxes and want a little added excitement watching a game.

I put too much faith in our tackles to hold up during this playoff run.
Christian and Hudson aren’t a winning formula. I had hope for Hudson but he isn’t strong enough or athletic enough
And The big concern I have is Joe and this offense made its hay in the pocket…can Kevin do that with Deshaun?

Need to go hurry up and give the tackles help. Can’t bring the clock under 5 seconds every play
-
Injuries or not you play your scheme that got you here. Or put the next guy in like we’ve done all year.
On offense we need to start chipping these edges. Kevin needs to get the play in quicker too

Remember 2007 when we needed the Colts to win for us to get in the playoffs?
So, yep, I wish the Colts in 2023 needed us to win Sunday. 🤣
Remember it fondly. I bought a 5 dollar Colts shirt at Gabriel’s one sleeve longer than the other. I felt filthy.

The nfl script writers definitely want to see Flacco play a game at M&T bank stadium.
And win.
A Lions Browns Super Bowl would be the ultimate underdog story. I would assume it would be a really good close game as well

So who’s resting next week?
Moore is obviously out. I wouldn’t play Cooper, Bitonio, Ward and anyone else with lingering injuries.
Offense dresses and plays a couple series and same with the defense.
Screw the Steelers keep them out.

Bernie Kosar was talking about kicking the tires on Jarvis Landry. I wonder if he’s still in shape.

Ryan Day opted out tonight. How many 8/9 fronts are you going to run into ALL night

I’m getting way ahead of things but who cares.
As a 5 seed (we will remain there) I still think we could host the AFC Championship against the Bills.

If the Browns clinch the 5th seed, they would play the 4th seed (which will be Jax or Indy). That's the dream matchup for the Browns.
Here's the thing, Buffalo could tie us with 11 wins if we hibernate starters and forfeit the Cincy game. That would mean Cleveland would have to play AT KC where they get EVERY call while officials conveniently miss every call against KC. I really don't want to watch another matchup with KC listening to Tony Romo fantasize about Mahomes like it's a football telecast turned Hallmark channel. That's a very difficult place to win at regardless of how unimpressively they coasted to winning their division. Before we get too cocky, we got humbled on the road at Denver, Seattle and LA. Let's play ball and keep the mojo. As much as we hated playing Thursday on minimal rest - the Browns don't play their next game for another 9-10 days to restore and replenish the rest and recuperation lost. This need to win to make the playoffs has our Browns USED TO the do or die pressure some higher seeds might not be ready for IMO.
Having said all that, if Buffalo loses this week - the guy that wrote the paragraph above was sniffing glue. More specifically, that's when they should rest people at Cincy.
Do we lose a tiebreaker to the Bills? Conference record decides it? They are 5-5 and we are 8-3

Quick turnaround should favor the home team. Their Oline is shaky at best- I expect the crowd to be loud and disruptive. Schwartz isn’t going to respect Wilson so we will come after him early and often. The d should be fresh for a Thursday game the lower snap count from the week before, the home crowd and ability the clinch…make me believe they will be nasty. Hall makes me pause for a second but the Browns will bring a committee to tackle and surround him.
Sauce will follow Cooper. Moore will have a bone to pick with his former team- expect Kevin to let him eat. I’m putting Moore front and center on every DraftKings lineup.
i expect this to be a grind though maybe a two score game.
