Hey SD,  what's new. ?   Time to play a good  ERROR FREE, great defense gamel.    GO BROWNS !

......  edit ....  meanwhile,    it's NFL RED ZONE time !

Doing well how about you?  OSU game last night was a little too close.

I’m getting the smoker warmed up for some wings…hopefully we steal one from Seattle today.

Not a team the Browns historically have done well against, for sure.

We are actually 2-2 over the last four games.  I remember seeing the one years ago right above the Seahawk tunnel where Phil Dawson hit FG in OT.

i think we matchup well with them.  Their OL is weak and we got the horses to cover their deep WR room.

I just don’t see way to with shaky QB play in that environment. I’m going 19-16….bad guys.

Conklin should really consider retiring at this point. I believe he restructured before this season into a 3 year deal.

Jones is Conklin's longterm replacement at RT. Not sure what they will do at LT. Some have hypothesized that Jones could be the LT, I just don't know about that. I'd probably stick with him at RT and try and fix the LT problem. (Easier said than done)

Easier said than done…is spot on.  Pat Kirwan made a point a couple weeks ago about expansion football.  A caller mentioned the need for the NFL to expand in London and Berlin and other places- Kirwan pointed to the lack of blindside protectors as a concern when you are adding teams.  He mentioned there are a good number of teams that have no answer and no options at that spot.  That’s an issue if you are trying to protect 230M investments.

The market will be interesting this coming offseason and I don’t think we will have the financial capability to play in it.

  4. This is a different matchup offensively.

I think many of us didn’t think too highly of the Colts.  They have arguably one of the best 1/2 punches in the backfield.  Their offensive line has some pieces and seemed to be coached well.  Pittman and Downs are two up and coming WRs.  Gardner gonna have his moments both ways.   We saw all of that and they’ve been that way all year.  Their OC was on his game too.

The Hawks are struggling with their Oline.   They aren’t thinking let’s go 4 wide and sling it not with Myles and company in town.  Geno isn’t being Geno of 2022. They got a couple backs that run hard definately not Taylor shiftiness that gave us problems or an Oline that can win battles.  They run 4/5 deep at WR that plays right into what we can do take away weapons and I think DK, Lockett, JSN, Bobo will have our attention.  I look for a conservative game plan from Pete - definitely some screens and misdirection plays early.  I don’t see that team putting up over 21 on us.

So any given Sunday… can we find 21 points? If we need to find more we may be SOL.

They have a really nice rookie corner Witherspoon- maybe susceptible to some double moves.  Can PJ Walker hit on a couple passes?

I have watched 2 of their last 3 games…they are not a juggernaut by any stretch and have some areas like the OL where you see them stall out against pedestrian defenses in the redzone.

Force FGs…win the turnover battle…can Walker and the WRs  capitalize on opportunities…we can win.

If we can ever get this former 10th pick overall to play like more than the 1st syllable of asset - we can get off our acid reflux meds on Sundays.   I'm not asking for much here - I'll take how he played as a rookie showing promise...

I can’t recall the scouting report on him…I know we had a major need at that spot there were four lineman deemed draftable in the first round.  Wirfs was smaller I recall for the position, I loved his wrestling Background.  Thomas was most polished I believe.  I don’t like reaching in the first because of need I especially hate reaching for offensive lineman.

I don't call him moneyman for nothing. Hunt smells endzones inside the 10.

Yes he is and it’s certainly better than a shovel pass with a practice squad QB…and I wonder why that play wasn’t easy- go figure a play call with a QB that can’t see the field well and deliver accurate passes (and almost gave up the game last week)

Hunt scores on 1st down and avoids all the nonsense on 2nd and 3rd down

  7. So does anyone have an opinion about it…for it or against it (and want a rule change)?

It is about 90% effective which is astounding considering the recent short yard struggles most teams have.

I am watching it on a couple of occasions and it is a simple numbers game- the eagles get low with the interior lineman (always winning this battle) and then they have more numbers pushing the pile forward.  The defense is normally spread out with less guys trying to hold the point of attack.  You have to adjust the defensive alignment bringing more guys off the edge and into the interior…the counter for the offense is audible out to a play on the perimeter.

Though he DID get lucky that Hunt scored on 4th down. If he hadn't made it, Kev would never have heard the end of it if he didn't try one more smash Kareem.

That said, man does Walker ever SUCK!!! No accuracy, and little field vision.  For those who still have the tape, I'd suggest you slo-mo on the final drive where PJ threw the ball out of the end zone and lucked out on a horrible ref call..  He had Njoku WIDE OPEN on the three yard line for a walk in TD on that play.

This is where Kevin was WRONG…other people may disagree with me but PJ Walker throwing jump balls into a crowded end zone or 33 seconds you get two chances with Hunt (arguably one of the best short yard backs in the game).   You could have added to your life expectancy Kevin.

The Njoku shovel play was a risk he’s a big guy but he’s catching the ball outside of the end zone and needs to weave his way into a crowded line of scrimmage and pick the right hole…not something he does on the regular. And if he doesn’t make the end zone you are in that same clock predicament he mentioned.

    Simplify the game.

It’s not Njoku up the gut or PJ making a decision in a crowded end zone.

It is Kareem Hunt no timeouts but two chances from the 1.
