  1. I’d have to imagine Pat Shurmur is #2.
  2. I’m going to be Pro Michigan for one second…it is really hard. The biased support from UM alumni I’ve seen - I’m actually applauding your alumni for not jumping ship however irrational they appear. At the very least it is a lack of institutional control. You hired the guy he’s making 50K standing next to guys making 7 figures and giving input during a game…and he’s apparently behind some rule breaking sign stealing scheme. If no one talks the circumstantial evidence alone - makes an investigation easy- no matter what due process they seek. And Resolve what? The response to the Big Ten was straight out of 5 year old playbook…well Johnny does it why is it an issue with us. The NCAA if it wants to have a backbone like it had back in the day is going leave a size 13 shoe print on your asses. The hammer is coming. And please no Harbaugh.
  3. they have one positive going for them…expectations are low. It would be nice not to have any recollection of what this franchise once accomplished on a consistent basis. 8-9/9-8 would look good to some of these 20/30 somethings I might have my chest puffed out if i watched the Jim Brown era. I don’t even go back that far…my first Browns recollection….Browns Jets 1986 playoff game and then a period of 9 years where we had a nice run of playoff football.
  4. We didn’t play very good redzone defense last time…gotta hold them to kicks instead of TDs. After that I think you gameplan on offense in a way that doesn’t magnify the void at the tackle spots. I expect the Ravens to blitz off the edges heavily…you need to hit them in areas where the blitz is now vacating those spots. We made a lot of rookie mistakes on offense staring down WRs I don’t think we gift them the same this time out. And Yes flipside, shorter fields for our offense…maybe a Proche punt return (old team revenge)
  5. We sure have this ability to have certain units completely impacted by injuries. 2021- I believe the secondary was out at parts of the year. RBs too I believe. 2022- LBs. 2023- Tackles. Ravens were pretty beat up the first game - but the QB play we had negated that advantage. Tough matchup for our D…we play a lot of man coverage and it’s not the greatest recipe against a mobile QB like Jackson.
  6. When it is time to make a play We need to beat people over the head with our strengths. Watching games around league we have some areas/players that are elite with some skill sets. We are great short yardage team running the ball inside. We got maulers/technicians inside and a hammer running the ball. 3rd and 4th and short should be advantage Browns almost every time. With our 230M QB back… We have a WR with elite route running skills. 3rd and medium or long reach into the bag and find that play call designed to go to him. We have an elite catch radius Redzone TE. Find him. Looks like we have the some fleet footed lineman and patient backs with good vision and hands to make the screen game work. We are deploying this often now(finally)- this is great.
  7. Let me start off by saying the additions to the defense were needed and they are staying healthy and playing well. Most notably the interior defensive lineman. Lots of focus there but let’s not forget some of other guys we’ve seen in different Browns schemes now because The holdovers are playing well. Jordan Elliot made no plays was one of the worst DL last year maybe the previous year too…he’s a solid rotational piece making splash plays when they are presented. The secondary looks comfortable more when they play man and they aren’t trying to communicate with each other in zone coverage. It is a talented group that’s also played together in two different regimes with different results. I don’t have the advanced metrics in front of me. It seems to me we are around the ball and with the exception of the big plays given up against Indy we are limiting YAC big time. Less buffoonery. Most notably our LBs are flying up and making tackles in the flats or breaking up passes there. JOK is thriving, Taki is playing smart football, Anthony Walker is healthy and playing impactful football. The argument I hear is there aren’t bodies on them and this is notable in the run game. Although I saw times last year they were untouched no impediment to the ball and they were MIA not making plays. Most importantly our superstar is playing at the highest level he’s ever played. If I’m leading this group I would spend days/weeks finding ways to deploy this chess piece….it shows that this defensive regime is mindful of this and doing just that. Jim Schwartz was a much needed breath of fresh of air. You could tell He did his homework on our personnel.
