  1. Love the physicality of Emerson. He really doesn't want his guy to score
  2. Bolts clearly taking a page out of Stefanski's 4th down playbook. Now let's run the damn ball again!
  3. I have no issue with Brisset at all. In fact, I've grown quite fond of him over the first games, as he brings exactly what is needed in the current situation. Would seriously consider signing him long-term as a back-up. What I am disputing is your "CONTEXT" that now is not the time to make coaching changes, because "we are still competitive." It is the polar opposite. We lost to the damn Jets, and even Faker and his lowly Pussycats gave us a run for our money. We are about to face much better teams and QBs, which are likely to ravage us. By the time our off-season 'All-in' plays out and DW gets to start, we will have a losing record. The chances of getting out of the Division are already slim to none. Bottom line: this season is lost, whatever we do. Might as well 'invest' in a complete coaching overhaul.
  4. @tiamat63 re: your comment about Perrion Winfrey in the game thread. Did notice a nice TFL against the run where their line had all sorts of trouble containing him. Somewhat surprised he played only 16 snaps (29%), as he seems to bring to the table exactly what we need in the interior.
  5. I was one of those believers, and while I've come down to earth, I still think the team is pretty stacked. Just some glaring weaknesses, as you pointed out. Second half of last season, the D really seemed to come together. Combine that to the best O-line and running back combo in football. Our most glaring weakness on the field seemed to be QB, which we addressed in the off-season. We just have to do without him for 11 games. The only thing we didn't address the IDL, and depth across the D-line. That's now coming back to bite us in the ass. With the exception of that D-line though, it is undeniable the team has plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. What has really let us down so far this season IMO, is the coaching. The defense has regressed massively from last year, and Stef is still calling plays that cost us drives and scores. That's what many of us on the board have been calling out, and are getting increasingly fed up with.
  6. While your point about a new coach is undeniable, what happens if we do not make changes in the coaching staff? We have lost against friggin' Flacco and the damn Jets, and now the Falcons ran all over us. Teams with a decent QB are going to pick us apart. Teams with a decent run will go for 200+ if not 300. And coach 'Fancy' will be sure to call plays that kill drives, or prevent certain scores. By the time DW can play, we will have a losing record. Even if he starts firing on all cylinders immediately (doubtful), we'd be lucky to get back to even. And you can forget about the playoffs. That makes it a lost season anyway, with our best players in their prime. Time to start considering a rebuild, while those players have value. That build starts with a completely new coaching staff: HC, DC, and STC. I have to agree with @nickers for once. None of them seem salvageable!
  7. Bengals beat the 3-0 fins. Ratbirds up against the SB-favorite Bills. We will struggle mightily to get out of the division.
  8. Stack the line, set up perfectly for the run, and then trow when you have next to no real receivers on the field. One wonders what goes on in his mind when he makes a call like that...
  9. Reports are that Perrion Winfrey will see reps against Atlanta, with Taven Bryan out. Let's see what this rook can do.
  10. I heard you the first time. My previous comment was more a clarification where I see the Browns currently, which is markedly different compared to the end of the off-season. I was a 'true believer' at that stage, thinking the addition of DW made us an immediate SB contender. I even saw our D-line as a strength, with the most talented Edge in Myles, and probably the best running mate in Clowney. Winfrey seemed an athletic specimen, which I had high hopes for. Through immaculate mental conception (wink, wink), I have come to the conclusion that both quality and depth at DT. Winfrey seems stuck in the naughty bin, and we are having big trouble stopping the run, and generating any kind of pass rush. This is especially as the game progresses, and our D-line gets gassed. I am also mightily unimpressed with our secondary play, which I rated as top-notch before the season started. Maybe Ward is not as elite as his new contract values him, nor Delpit as his draft round. And the coaching went from giving up massive plays on busted coverages multiple times in consecutive games, to some sort of prevent package that allows anything and everything, but getting beat over the top. That sees like an over-reaction, rather than a real improvement. Long story short: maybe the talent is not quite what I thought it was, especially on the defensive side. And the defensive en ST coaching does not seem anywhere near play-off worthy. Even if DW does come back firing on all cylinders immediately, which is doubtful, we would be lucky to get out of the division IMO.
  11. Translation from Steve's brain: "He must have been up to no good. He was driving around with a woman, I tell you. A WOMAN!" FFS
  12. Asshole? You drive a 911 on a slippery road like that without crashing. Should he have known better? Preferably so, but ignorance is not a crime.
