  1. Basically every other position will have to show up, in order for the likely lack of success passing. O-line, backs, defense. Hope coach calls for more short passing plays to help our Brisset. Get Njoku more involved, screen passes and such.

As long a 'fancy' Stefanski lets Yorkie kick the ball, as opposed to his usual fourth down shenanigans, we're in with a shot.

And hey Dawg how's the weather down your way ?

Getting ready for a hurricane party,  that's always fun.  We went through one in Hawaii.....and good for business.    mjp.

Like @hoortaalready pointed out, the weather is pretty much always nice here in Curaçao. One of the reasons I love living here. When it gets above 90 like it has for the past weeks, we get to complain about the heat B)

The ABC-islands Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are dubbed the 'islands below the wind' in Dutch, as practically all hurricanes and tropical storms pass to the north. I am told this is due to the proximity of the Venezuelan coast, against which wind builds up into a protective air-cushion of sorts. The last time a hurricane actually hit Curaçao was a freak occurrence in 1877.

Anyone else affected by any of this? @TexasAg1969maybe? When I think of hurricanes, Ohio doesn't come to mind tbh.

  3. Had to be done. We are only one game in, and I just love this kid to death. I also expect to feel the need to express that more often.

Game winner aside, did anyone else hear the commentary team say he put one of the kick-offs between the uprights? It was following one of our TDs, I think. The kid was literally practicing long field goals in-game. How friggin alpha can a kicker get?!

An elite kicker is so complementary to a defense and running-oriented team like the Browns too. If coach 'Fancy' Stefanski keeps his urges under control, especially on fourth down, Cade could be one of our leading scorers this year.

...was at a party.  How did Brissett look?

Brissett looked okay, but Dobbs looked much better in the time he got (which is too little IMO) Would be my vote to start. Bell had a few nice catches.

More concerning was the defense looking underwhelming, but with the elite starters off the field there is room for improvement there. Emerson looked pretty good. Having 3, possibly 4 quality CBs on the squad is nice in this day and age.

From my sideline view... Dobbs looked VERY good, but it's preseason. Schwartz is #1 on my most likely to be cut list.  Fast as lightning, hands of stone.

Browns second string defense was a sieve.

Thankfully, the rain stopped on the walk to the stadium.

Those are my main takeaways as well. Dobbs looked like he should be in the conversation to start. Defensive back-ups are underwhelming to say the least. You cannot give up yards against the run like that. Browns would do well to invest draft picks to get more defensive depth, and maybe sign some veterans.

^^^^^  This all would make a good shady novel followed by a good (if that's the right word) trashy movie.

With the names slightly changed like DeShlong  Washington as the lead character,  then.......

........enter another professional football team led by some out of touch owner(s)  Jerriah Hasty  and his Toledo Orangemen  in  Destined for Disaster.    At a theater near you in September.   Too out there ?   Not enough  ?  Eh ?     :o

    GO O ?

    Would watch

I'm not from Cleveland, and I'm not a Browns fan.  I'm glad I don't have to ask myself this question because I am not sure I know the answer.

    But.....Is this all worth it?

It's probably better asked as a three part question because the whole point of aquiring Watson is to pursue a Lombardi so then -----

Is it worth if the Browns don't win a Lombardi?

Is it worth it ONLY if the Browns win a Lombardi?

Is it NOT worth it even if they DO win a Lombardi?

Yes, no, hell no. You don't just acquire a Lombardi. If you could, I suspect the Saudi national oil company would own quite a few.

The trade is about maximizing the chance to win one in the foreseeable future. We have a pretty loaded squad, with Pro bowlers in their prime. You need an elite QB to maximize that potential. Miss this window, and you have to wait a decade or more for the next chance. It's as simple as that.

JG is a decent game manager who can keep errors down when facing teams he's supposed to beat.  Anything need-to-win and he shows why his contract is pretty wildly overvalued.  I would really only trade for him if 49ers are paying some chunk of the contract --- we can go 6-5 with Brissett just as easily as with JG and have money left over to get a C or another WR/DT/etc.

The Browns lost negotiation leverage with this verdict, but the 9ers are likely still keen to shed at least part of his salary. I'll gladly defer to @tiamat63 assessment of the value, or lack thereof. If there is a good chance Jimmy gets cut, waiting for that is the smarter move anyway I suppose.

My proposed 3 RB formation it is then! :D

When have the Browns acquired a top 5 QB in the past?

And once again, who exactly on here has been "printing Super Bowl tickets" since Watson was traded for?

Haven't printed anything in ages (is that still a thing?), but I have mentioned the SB a couple of times. My fandom of the Browns comes with a desire to win. This is opposed to @nickers, who relishes to be all doom and gloom, and then say: "I told you so" when we don't win. God forbid we actually do win it all. He will be cowering in the corner, murmuring: "this wasn't supposed to happen."

I'm just saying... it takes more than one person...

While we agree on that, your previous comment referred to both Watson and the SB. The QB is the most impactful position to achieve the latter, so whether you like it or not, Watson is the best bet the Browns have had on winning it all. Possibly ever.

Coming back to the team part, that is the very reason I am still positive about the DW trade. Browns roster is pretty stacked all around. Both lines, running backs, secondary, receivers. Weakest position group is probably linebackers, even though JOK is hugely talented. This is on purpose though, as the moneyballers who run the Browns don't rate LB's.

Given the aforementioned strength of the squad, and elite talent like Garrett, Chubb and Ward being in their prime, if you are ever going to take a swing at a trade for a Top 5 QB, now is the time!
