    Absolutely ridiculous.

    Literally the only pocket of people who are outraged that he's going to get a much longer suspension is Browns fans.

    Geez, I wonder why?

    The Browns deserve every bit of the never-ending shit circus they brought to town ON THEMSELVES. They are not victims, they sold their souls, and they'll deal with the consequences.

    The appeal leading to a longer suspension is your assumption, and a questionable one at best.

    Read the article Steve. If the person hearing the appeal gives the NFL exactly what they've wanted all along, it's see you in Court.  I would hope that there would be some room for compromise, like a couple extra games and a  $5 million fine.

    The policy to be upheld leaves room for a higher fine. It does not leave any room for a longer suspension. 6 games plus more money it will likely be, and the NFL looking even more foolish.

    If the imposed ruling were not to be in accordance with the policy, Watson's legal team has an open and shut case in court. They have the legal equivalent of a gun to the NFL's temple.

    In the first place it's two different issues. A prostitutes job is to suck your weiner. A massage therapists job is to rub your back. A prostitute isn't likely to be offended if you jerk off on them. A massage therapist or a barista or a Dollar General Clerk possibly will.

    WSS

    In addition to what @hoortasaid, soliciting prostitution is actually a crime in Florida, whereas whatever DW is accused of is so far from a crime, Grand Juries won't even start a trail.

    You are in some serious denial if you deny Watson was up to no good.

    Only seeking out female therapists? How many were there, 66, 24?

    C'mon man!

    Like Ballpeen already pointed out, the accusers were happy to continue the session, receive payment, and in some cases even asked for new appointments. Then they miraculously changed their minds when a lawyer close to the Texans' owner offers to sue to get them a payday. Who is being 'up to no good' here, really? The accusers look worse than the accusee.

    😆 Not to interrupt your chest pounding parade; but you 2 guys have been blaming the media for everything.  Now that they're reporting possibilities of a lesser suspension - look who wants us hanging on their every word all of a sudden.

    Nobody disputes Watson's talent as a QB.  I actually wanted us to draft Watson back when our 1-15 record put him right on our doorstep (before the off the field nightmare unfolded).  A lot of people conveniently forget this today when they have to make a villain out of the QB the Browns drafted 1st overall the next year.

    Anyway, Watson played for the same kind of NFL owner as Haslam (so just like Baker) he only has 1 playoff win to show for his first 4 years in the NFL.  The last year Watson played, his team had a 4-12 record despite the fact he finished the year with the 2nd highest passer rating in the NFL with a rating of 112.4 (only behind Aaron Rodgers).  I think he did as well as he could under the circumstances; but he didn't finish there as a wins and losses football savior.  His cap hit here in the next few years could/will cost us the ability to keep some productive vets aside from what injuries can do while we forfeit 2 more years of 1st round picks.  We'll see how easy it is to play QB all of a sudden on Haslam's franchise.  That said, I still would have rather brought Watson here in 2017 under the rookie salary cap and kept all of our important picks the next few years.

    Good stuff. I largely agree with what you are saying.

    Let me give you a high level timeline of the DW acquisition here on the board. When the deal was first announced, the sentiment was split roughly 50-50. The ladies who love Baker got their Nickers in a twist (pun intended). The other half was looking forward to the on field improvement (the potential for which Tia presented with one of his trademark video reviews), while having some reservations about DW off-field.

    As time went on, the sentiment turned ever more negative. Indeed, it is my perception that this was caused by a relentless barrage of hysterically negative press. I see this as a sign of the times. Most of the media is no longer about presenting facts as they should, but rather opinions based on their morality. And everyone who disagrees is a fascist (oh, the irony), but I digress.

    Then the NYT publishes an article, and this place turns into The View Board, menstruation sub-forum. Which is astonishing, considering that the only newsworthy part of that article was that the Texans actively supported DW in his massage undertakings, and they were subsequently added to the civil suits. This probably helped speed up the settlements, and is likely to factor positively into the suspension.

    Only a few members kept their heads cool and tried to stick to the limited facts known, as opposed to moral judgements based on assumptions. Hope all this talk about morality comes to an end soon, and we start focussing on performance on field. I am looking forward to our play with DW under center, which is likely to be sooner than most expected. I still look favorable on the trade for the same reason.

    Report: Deshaun Watson Likely To See Field in 2022

    Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland reported that quarterback Deshaun Watson is "likely" to see the field in some capacity in 2022.

    Quarterback Deshaun Watson's hearing with the NFL and judge Sue Robinson concluded on Thursday afternoon. Several interesting subplots emerged from the process, with many saying that things are trending in Watson's direction.

    The star quarterback and his team allegedly pushed for zero discipline from the league office. They suggested that an unprecedented punishment was unfair considering the league didn't exercise harsh discipline unto owners Dan Snyder and Robert Kraft, both of whom dealt with similar allegations.

    While zero discipline is highly unlikely, it appears that the punishment won't be as extreme as some initially thought. The NFL reportedly leaked they hoped for an indefinite suspension with the idea of making Watson and his team cave into a longer suspension.

    However, Watson held firm and could stand to gain from it. ESPN's Tony Grossi reported that he had two separate sources say that Watson would see the field in some capacity during the 2022 season.

    Grossi added that both sources maintained anonymity because they weren't authorized to share details on the hearing. While the discussions went on behind closed doors, information continued to trickle out.

    The league office supposedly admitted they are seeking an unprecedented suspension, but the NFLPA maintained that the discrepancy between the owners' punishment and Watson's is unacceptable.

    We seem to be trending towards a suspension between six and eight games. No one can predict Judge Robinson's decision, but the code of conduct specifically outlined this situation.

    If the league is unable to argue that a player's conduct was violent or with malicious intent, then the baseline for such allegations is six games. That would align with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and running back Ezekiel Elliot's suspensions earlier in the decade.

    Hate to say I told you folks so, but that is exactly what @SdBacker80 and I have been doing. Snowed under by so many whiny drama-queen comments, it's no wonder these guys are pining for Baker LOL.

    Yeah and a innocent person doesn't make his victims sign NDA's unless hes got something serious to hide  then suddenly has to pay them off (20 women)  An innocent person supposedly: Shouldnt have to pay anyone off!...... Puhleeze..

    So you are ready to call a person despicable and spew hatred based on assumptions and zero facts. Okay then. Must be lonely up there on your 'moral high ground.'

    Every major company I have ever worked for made me sign an NDA, or had it incorporated in the employment contract. Does that mean they had ungodly intentions with me? Of course not. It is a standard practice for a wealthy organization or individual to protect themselves. Welcome to the real world, my fellow Brownie.

    With him at QB... It will never feel real for me... I will always think of of him as a despicable and selfish person...  The Browns have sunk to the lowest common denominator enabling this turd fuck...

    You use very resentful words when you describe him, which is your prerogative. Honest question though: why?

    He used the services of seemingly cheap and sleazy masseuses. Is that enough to be so resentful? Do you know any of them personally? Is it getting tugs and paying for them? It seems likely tugs were offered to him, which I believe makes it a crime committed by the masseuse under Texas law. If there was any evidence he solicited them, the criminal cases against him wouldn't have been thrown out. Historically, juries in the south are quite gung ho about convicting black men, so there must really be no shred of evidence.

    None of the actual facts known offend me, nor do they prevent my from wanting him on the team. If anything, I am seeing him more and more as a victim of a questionable legal system, and media witch hunt. My major gripe with him at this point is that he wasn't smart enough to do things 'right.' He should have gotten his massages from actual sports massage professionals. I am sure he would have been able to find one both qualified and attractive, if these were both requirements. And for tugs or equivalent I am sure Texas or neighboring states have their Heidi Fleiss who could offer those services discretely, and by women highly unlikely to get second thoughts about providing them.

    This might be the worst pre-football BROWNS season that I can ever remember.

    No notable looking ahead at the upcoming football season it's now buried in this DW soap opera plus right now we do not know who will be our Game 1 starting quarterback.......even with two experienced quarterbacks on the team.

    Not a normal quarterback battle for the #1 spot instead the Cleveland BROWNS are a daily front page joke of having a top 5 quarterback who is some kind of idiot and a quarterback who's already said goodbye to Cleveland.

    Thanks for the fine job in getting a $230M pervert to sign up for the team locking us up for years.  We're now discussing criminal charges every day.

    ● Question:   Anyone else here tired of this daily crap ?

    GO BROWNS,  we still love ya' !    It's the leadership decisions that we question.

    If DW is on the front page every day, you are reading a tabloid, not a newspaper. Suggest you pass it on to the Mrs.

    Having some uncertainty about the length of a suspension, and therewith who QB1 is going to be the first few games, is a price I am more than willing to pay for adding a top 5 QB in his prime to an already loaded roster.

    Clowney came back and accepted less pay than he could have made, just to play with DW. Only positive sounds coming from the locker room. Browns are preparing to win. It seems that is unsettling to some.

    From June 17, 2022 5 pm..... More rumors coming true ?  Heavy.com.

    There Cleveland Browns have a crowded backfield but a new proposed trade would thin out their depth by shipping out Kareem Hunt while getting a key piece in return.

    The deal proposed by Bleacher Report would see Hunt land with the Philadelphia Eagles for offensive tackle Andre Dillard and a 2023 sixth-round pick. Here’s what Bleacher Report’s Ian Wharton said about the deal:

    Hunt is an excellent rusher and receiver who is capable of attaining an elite stat line. He’s so comfortable as a receiver that it’s surprising the Browns didn’t use him in the slot more often when their receiving room was decimated. We’d love to see Hunt in a bigger role.

    The Eagles are the premier landing spot for Hunt. Though he’d split time with starter Miles Sanders, Hunt would enter an offense that is run-heavy and creative enough to utilize him in various roles. Hunt’s power would complement Sanders’ slashing style well, and he could be another receiving threat for Jalen Hurts.

    Browns RB D’Ernest Johnson Opened Door for Deal

    Hunt dealt with both calf and ankle injuries last year, forcing him to miss nine games. But the former NFL rushing leader has huge upside when healthy, with more than 5,150 yards from scrimmage and 44 touchdowns to his name over a five-year NFL career.

    Hunt comes with a $6.25 million cap hit this season and the Browns would suffer no dead cap money if they parted ways with him. While talented, Hunt is in the final year of his deal and may not be someone Cleveland can keep around next season when cap space will be harder to come by.

    There’s also the fact that the Browns have the depth to deal with Hunt not being on the roster thanks to D’Ernest Johnson returning.

    Johnson had refused to sign his unrestricted free agent tender with the Browns but ended up agreeing to a deal worth the same value of $2.43 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. However, the difference is his guaranteed money, which comes in at $900,000.Johnson capitalized on his opportunities when his number was called upon last season, notching 534 yards on 100 carries with three touchdowns. He also collected 19 receptions for 137 yards.

    Browns Still Hoping OT Jack Conklin Good for Training Camp

    Would love this trade. Chubb is our clear No 1. Johnson and Ford can duke it out for 2 and 3. Shipping hunt for OL depth and draft capital is great value.

    Here's my prediction:

    He gets suspended for the entire season, the union gets it knocked down to 8 games.

    Which is what most of us expected when they signed him the day after St. Pats Day.

    To reiterate mine: he gets a slap on the wrist. 2-4 games MAX. Anything close to the season, and he sues the NFL for all they got.

    Criminal cases thrown out. 20 civil cases already settled, the details of which go under wraps. The NFL has got no evidence other than DW's own testimony to suspend him on, so they've got nothing. The media's thirst for blood will be their undoing, and your public relations nightmares are your own.

    Looks like Browns fans will get to see a loaded roster perform with a top 5 QB in his prime under center. Go (to the Superbowl) Browns!

    Ezekiel Elliot and Ben Roethlisberger were both suspended under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, without ever being charged with a crime. So this isn’t exactly setting a precedent, just Goodell playing Judge, Jury, and Executioner.

    This is more or less my point though. There weren't ongoing legal proceedings in those examples, but there are in this case. Dishing out a lengthy suspension while the cases are being tried can be seen as influencing the outcome thereof, opening the door to a liability suit. As much as Goodell may want to do as you say, I think the league will be cautious in this case.

    I hope that you enjoy it.  Oh a little background information on our family and cooking,  my grandmother was the best cook I've ever known and worked as a cook on and off her whole life.  My mother used to cook for her 5 boys, dad, her, my grandfather,  8 of us "army style "  big meals on a budget.

    My wife Nancy I can honestly say is now besides cooking with her mother is now a "scratch" cook.  I'm a good cook she's much better.   We both enjoy watching cooking shows   -but-  she watches even more than I do.

    And Helen, her mother a full blooded Ukrainian,  she just passed away in 2019 at 95 and would have lived to be 100+ if she didn't slip and fall and broke her hip.  An amazing lady and cook, she used to make I'm not kidding full blown Christmas and Easter meals for us until she was 93 +/-.  Ham, kielbasa,  Helen's incredible breaded baked chicken (ummm-mmm), scalloped potatoes,  mashed potatoes, * her deviled eggs, * homemade Paska bread, vegetables,  dessert and then some.....all by herself.   OMG.

    Well my wife now a retired nurse just told me that her mother used to make Helen's Spaghetti Sauce when she was a kid, that simple but good recipe may have come from her grandmother or earlier.

    SO food is meant to be enjoyed and shared,  that's why I started this favorite GAMEDAY foods forum on another board about 17+ years ago and continued it here.  I also have a private friends and family recipe email that we enjoy.

    And Bon Appétit.....  exclamation used as a salutation to a person about to eat.  Or  good appetite : enjoy your meal.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~    🍽️   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Slavic cuisine often does not get the appreciation it deserves. My friends from Poland and travelling there opened my eyes. Bigos stew has become a favorite of mine.
    The sure is... Yes! You can place a Vegas wager on Watson's game suspension ..
    How Long Will DeshaunWatso?
    Over 4.5 Games-140
    Under 4.5 Games+100
    Now the question becomes, how many games will Deshaun Watson be suspended? Watson isn’t facing any criminal charges, but there are 23 civil suits. The NFL has the power to suspend him.
    The over/under sits at 4.5 games. He’ll likely face discipline from the league, but what will Deshaun Watson’s suspension look like?
    The top NFL betting sites have the over as the favorite, and I’d say that’s the correct pick. Watson avoided criminal charges, but he still faces civil suits
    I still say that a suspension that long at this point in time would lead to him and his team suing the NFL for everything they got. He has been convicted of nothing, which basically means he did nothing wrong at this point in time.
    Both a short 'get it over with' suspension, or a postponement till after the conclusion of legal proceedings seem more likely to me.
