  1. Well he might retire then, no way the Steelers can afford him they are already under water with the cap. I also heard that the NFL and NFLPA might agree to higher cap number to help teams out, so your 188m figure might be close to correct.
  2. I am not sure where you are getting your cap numbers from. We are rolling over like 30 million. That roll over I believe has to go through some approval/vetting by the NFL before it becomes official. Also, multiple sites have us at 17 million plus cap space for 2021 and that assumes 175 million cap. So there is money there. And we havent extended Baker yet because I don't think you can do such negotiations until after the 3rd yr. Baker and Denzel don't have to be extended this yr, although doing so will probably be better in the long term then waiting. As for JJ, I wouldn't trade for him unless there is an agreement to redo his contract, 17m is just too much. But I would take him at around 10m or 20m over two.
  3. I think the Steelers and Saints are teams to watch this off season on player they will have to part ways with. Juju and Dupree aren't returning. There are some other players like Hilton, Sutton and even Haden I would be interested in if they don't resign. The Saints will get some relief if/when Brees retires but they will be releasing some good players we should keep an eye on during free agency.
  4. Except Rogers wasn't selected 4, he dropped a lot and the value was too great to pass up, they got lucky. I guess it depends on how much you think Ryan has left, it you think he has 4 or more years left I pass on a QB and improve the team. The Falcons played better the 2nd half of the season so they may had a quick rebound in order. If they could have one fall to the them in round 2 that would be a different calculus.
  5. Out of that list Flacco. He had that great run in the playoffs and didn't do crap after that. In fact his career was always up and down, and inconsistent and caught magic in a bottle during the SB run which I think was helped by the stupid Bronco defense.
  6. To me 4yr 50m would be doable and fair. Add that as extension to his current rookie contract and that puts you are age 30 where things can be reevaluated. Having Hunt will also help absorb some of the wear and tear. That said I rather like having a situation of how we are going to pay a bunch of good players then the usual crap we have been going through.
  7. Maybe Billings who opted out this past season would be an in house option. Hopefully Elliot will take a big step forward, didn't see much from him this year either. Maybe Aluaalua from Pittsburgh.
  8. Aren't we rolling over 30 million this year?
  9. When I watched JJ play this last season, he looked like an average to slightly above average DL. Those injuries have taken a toll on him and he isn't the same player anymore. No way would I trade for him. I rather pay OV to come back for one year then take Watt.
  10. I think how the backup situation sorts out will be interesting. I thought Dunn played well, Hance considering how new he was played OK too. I think we have a lot of good options there. I wonder if they do one extra game next season if they will expand the rosters any.
  11. Chubb is special, he may be the best back we had since #32. Our run game is just better with Chubb toting the rock. I understand the sentiment about investing at that position, but I would sign him now to a 4/5yr deal with the back end easy for us to cut ties if he falls off the table. If we have fans in the stands for 2021 the 2022 cap may go up as much as 50 million. I think there will be plenty to go around. If we look in the top tier players now, there deals will probably look good several years from now.
  12. This is who I would keep: Lamm - He was serviceable when called upon Parkey - We don't have other options and he was fairly reliable this year. I would give him a 2/3yr deal but bring in competition Higgins - He is solid 3 option in this offense and clicks with Baker. A 3 yr $15 million deal sounds fair to me. Vernon - On a one year prove it deal after his injury, should be a cap friendly deal Mitchell - Solid DB and we need DB help and is insurance against Greedy Joseph - He played solid as backup and did make plays including the playoffs. I like a multi year cap friendly deal as depth/rotational guy Goodson - We need a lot of help at this position. I think Goodson was solid. He is replaceable but I think we have limited options here at the moment. Vincent Taylor - He started making more plays towards the end of the year and I think we could get him back here on a favorable deal as depth. I think everyone else can go, we really need to focus on defense this off season. Keep the key offensive players in place. Also should be noted we have a lot of key players up for contract in the next year. Among those are Baker, Ward, Chubb and Teller.
  13. Yeah I think I am done with Ogunjobi, I was disappointed in his play this year and I think upgrading the interior of the D line needs to be done.
  14. Totally agree, draft should be all defense....outside maybe a backup o lineman.
  15. I agree he didn't lose the game. My only criticism on that play is that he should have been more self aware of the situation. He didn't need to score on that stretch given the time left, but I dont have a problem with the effort.
  16. Vernon is going to be a big blow because he has picked up the slack from Myles as Myles still is having post covid issues. So Myles will need to up his game. Clayborn I think is the best next option and needs to play well. I did see him get some pressures last game. If we get Ward back that will be huge. Going forward I would take OV back on a friendly one year prove it deal. The defense as a whole needs a lot of work, it should be the primary focus of the draft and free agency.
  17. If the Pats lose tonight I believe they are done, like you said 9-7 won't get you in. Go Rams!
  18. OBJ walked off too, but those type injuries almost always turn out to be ACLs.
  19. This is a must win, we have to win games against all these lesser teams. So more running the ball and controlling the clock. Also Wentz has been getting a beat down this year, we need to keep that up this week.
  20. Maybe we should sign Dez Bryant off the Ravens practice squad, we need another WR and it will possibly negatively impact the Ravens.
  21. I could have worded it better. My point was, the first throw in the last game he had OBJ 1 on 1 on the outside, but he wasn't really open. I think he was predetermined to throw there because it was OBJ rather than find another receiver who was more open so to speak.
  22. I think missing OBJ can impact the running game, meaning that teams wont feel the need to double team anyone like they would with OBJ. But I think this will mean Baker won't feel the need to say throw it OBJ just because he has single coverage, he will just go with the guy that is open. He looked like 2018 Baker last game. Lets see if this continues, the game this week is huge for playoff implications. The Raiders have a pretty soft schedule after playing us, so winning the game against them will be huge for tie breaker reasons.
  23. He did have that one series where he made some plays, had the pressure, the tackle on receiver on 3rd to take it 4th and then the PBU on 4th that could have been a pick. I didn't see Mack the whole game except in the pile on the Elliot fumble. So maybe as these guys get more playing time it will shore some things up there.
  24. The Colts are a solid team on both sides of the ball. Definitely the best team we played since week 1. I still don't have a lot of confidence in the Browns defense but I think they have slowly gotten better each week. Even giving up 38 last week, they did a lot of that playing soft and rushing 4 and dropped about 4 picks in the process. So slowly better but still lots of work to do. If the Browns can win this Sunday I think it dramatically changes the expectations for this team.
  25. Yeah I think there are things Baker can improve on, he can stay in the pocket better and we know he can do this. The defense I think is slowly improving. I think playing the prevent in the 4th quarter did them no favors, but they were pretty darn good through 3 quarters today against a high powered offense. Sendejo outside of his one play today is not good. We also need to get some pressure from someone other than Myles.
