  1. As has been noted he is an ace recruiter. Above-average tactician. And like you said free agency is the recruiting in the NFL so maybe he can make a Big Splash in that. But he has been under a great defensive mind at Alabama (saban) and was the defensive coordinator this last year and co dc the year before. You don't become the defensive coordinator of Alabama without at the least being an above-average coach. What's interesting to me as a huge college football fan is the amount of staff leaving Nick Saban. I don't know if maybe he is on his way out and they know it or if something else is going on. Or maybe they all just want to get in the NFL or took upward moves
  2. Since the Athletics got permission to sign him to 40 man roster to entice him to stick with baseball i assumed they were going to do that. Something like a 14 million dollar contract. Per ESPN "MLB rules prohibit players from signing major league contracts, which place players on the 40-man roster, out of the draft. Teams are not allowed to sign amateur players to minor league deals, then immediately give them major league deals, because the latter would be an inducement to sign and a circumvention of the league's finite draft pools. In Murray's case, because he signed a minor league deal, and because his performance at Oklahoma changed the circumstances of his baseball career, Oakland would be within the rules to give Murray a long-term extension if that's what it takes to keep him in baseball, sources tell ESPN. Even with a major league deal, Murray would likely begin his career at High-A Stockton, sources told ESPN."
  3. I like the Wilks hire, but I do have a concern about Denzel Ward playing mostly Zone. He is more of a press man cover corner. I'm sure he can adapt but it's going to take some time. Most of the times balls were caught on him this year were when we were in zone coverage and he didn't get deep enough in a cover 2 or didn't see a guy coming into his zone. My other concern with Ward in zone coverage is those times that he does get deep enough they will throw underneath and he will have to come up and make a tackle. It's not that he can't make the tackle it's can he make the tackle while keeping his head out of the play to keep from getting yet another concussion
  4. if they went the college route i wouldn't mind taking a peak at Jon Tenuta who is currently the db coach at University of Cincinnati. I love the defense they played this year aggressive, rally to the ball type, rugby tackling (when denzel ward). I know Marcus Freeman is their DC but that is a jon tenuta luke Fickell defense. Freeman still deserves credit
  5. He's pointing out that Kingsbury was just hired less than a month ago at USC for the offensive coordinator job and then left immediately to take the head coaching job at Arizona. A joke that he doesn't stay in jobs very long. same with Manny Diaz taking the temple job then going to Miami
  6. No I completely noticed I was merely pointing out the fact that a few analysts have said that Dwayne Haskins can't run an RPO and it just gets parroted by people because people don't understand the RPO is designed to be a QB run. The big reason there were holes with Tate was because they ran the true read option with Tate. It wasn't an RPO. By the way Defenses are more likely to stack the box with a running quarterback then they are if the opposing teams has a passing QB. I'm not discussing the offensive line I said Isaiah Prince was really bad and he has been beat throughout his career by speed rushers consistently. The offensive line was built for the read-option game and they have practiced that for the past 3 years so of course they're going to be more proficient blocking at that then they are a RPO/stretch run game. I'm not debating that Tate Martell opens up more for run because the offensive line is used to blocking for that type of offense and it is more open.
  7. It was a PR nightmare. They were absolutely awful. You saw the 22 page report not the info they have released since then or you would know that guy told him after he had already turned his phone over to lawyers that "you know there is a way to set your phone to delete messages older than a year". It wasn't urban asking, it wasn't them doing it then as he had already turned over his phone. Someone interviewed by investigative commitee which wasnt included in the condensed report for some reason said they set Urban's phone to that years ago because of storage issues. Again you read the stuff that ESPN reported. OSU has been releasing documents due to the foia like 15 documents at a time since the original condensed report. I recommend you reading into those. Edit: it came off them choosing winning over all else because of the way the media put its spin on the story.
  8. Again you are just regurgitating a report that didn't have all the information. That setting had been set for years and not by Urban. But yeah you're probably right Urban had messages from 3 years ago, 3 phones ago when he exchanges 1000 plus text messages including videos per week because phones have tons of storage space.
  9. No not at all she could have sent that. He could have said what the Shmuck are you talking about. And then they could have got an argument. And then days later they could have had another conversation and one of his responses could have been I know to something else completely different. Then she could have deleted all the messages in between as you can pick and choose what messages you delete on any text messaging app that I know of. I don't know that it was vetted by Brett McMurphy. To me it just seems like she sent him a screenshot and he posted it. You can easily select an option that says show timestamps which would prove without a doubt that these messages were sent in sequential order or at least within the same time frame. So if it were that easy to do to not leave any wiggle room why would she not have done that. Edit I'm not saying that's what she did or that these texts aren't true and that he actually did it. I'm just saying that they don't prove that he did it because it could easily be manipulated in such ways as I've detailed like messages in between could be deleted or they could be a completely fabricated text with a friend that she named Zach in her phone just to take a screenshot.
  10. The rpo doesn't need Tate to be successful. The P in RPO stands for pass. The read-option needs Tate Martell to be successful. Dwayne Haskins actually runs the RPO very well. Because in the RPO the quarterback isn't looking to run the ball he is reading the backside linebacker and if that guy flows with the Run he passes to the slant running behind him. The reason the RPO hasn't been successful for the Buckeyes is the front side of the line is run-blocking yet they can't fire off the ball for fear of getting ineligible downfield. The backside of the line is pass blocking and is not getting up to the second level to get seal blocks. I don't know why people can't understand the read option and the RPO are different things. The read-option is the one where you need a mobile quarterback. Another thing is the RPO was not what JT ran prior to last year here. Last year they ran it a little bit due to Kevin Wilson. Urban Meyer hardly ever ran an RPO offense prior to last year which has been a common misconception all year that that is his baby. when his baby is really the read-option offense not the Run pass option offense. Just for information before calling people ignorant.
  11. Are there time stamps on those messages? Cause those don't line up. "I know!!!" could have been a response to a separate text with messages in between deleted. "I know!!!" doesn't seem to be an appropriate response to that. Hell where is the phone number. It just says a name. I can text my buddy set something up and change the name in my phone.
  12. He ended up being charged with misdemeanor, Disorderly conduct. And a (mutual?) 3 year protection order. Woody the reason most fans were on meyer's side after all the evidence came out is they were in the middle of where everything was happening like Courtney's mom denying the allegations. Those outside of Ohio never got all the information. They were fed bits and pieces of info in order to shape the story. Much like your deleted evidence retort. That was pushed by a lot of people but the truth is his phone had that setting for years. He sends out recruiting videos and probably thousands of texts per week not to mention what he receives. It was done about 4 years ago to save storage by someone other than urban. Actually by his pr team I believe. I don't know about you but people at my workplace get stuff delivered all the time especially from Amazon. I've never seen the contents of those packages and the box doesn't have "SEX TOYS" written on it but am I to assume that's what they are. OSU PR team was absolutely horrible in handling of the press conferences and all the like without a doubt. I'll agree about the insincere apologies. It was a loaded question if he doesn't apologize he's an arsehole if he apologizes it means Zach hit Courtney. It was not sincere because urban doesn't believe Courtney was abused. That right there tells you he didn't cover anything up because if he doesn't believe it happened there is nothing to cover up. Zach is a bad person and should have been fired long ago for being a shitty coach and transgressions (that don't include hitting his wife) and urban was suspended because he failed to fire him for multiple fireable offenses. However to act like he covered up for a serial woman abuser is silly if you look into the documents released on your own and don't let ESPiN tell you what to think.
  13. Yeah equate the whole fan base to the 250 (give or take 100) people who gathered. Must be why you think the whole browns fan base was picking on poor little peppers just because he was from Michigan. You equate whole fam bases to actions of a very small percentage.
  14. I've already given you two examples of a mid round pick and undrafted guy "peeing in their eyes" regarding the Ohio State line in the last 3 year's. The Ohio State line is not a good measuring stick especially Prince. He has been consistently beat his whole career in pass pro sets and as a whole I'm sure you've noticed their inability to run the ball this year. He's a fine young player but i wouldn't even be surprised if he doesn't go pro this year being only a junior.
  15. I Will just say this, this kid will not go in the first round. Or I should say i would be shocked if he is but someone could pull a mike Mitchell esque move and really reach. He's a little on the light side and would be more suited as an edge player in the 3-4
  16. That 6 and 7 team in 2011 was a genuinely bad team. Just because Michigan should win this game as in they are the better team this year doesn't mean there's anything wrong in Columbus. Michigan is a good blue blood football program and should win their fair share of "The GAME"s. Unless you're just saying that Ohio State should always beat Michigan because they have a better program I don't happen to agree with that but if that's how you feel you're entitled to your opinion.
  17. If it happens You explain it by the fact that Michigan just has a better team this year and are a very good team. There is no need for excuses. Michigan is a blue blood program as is Ohio State. These last 20 years can be compared with the Cooper era right before that. What it boils down to is really these are to evenly matched programs throughout history and either or could beat the other every single year
  18. Yeah zombo posted something about it at top of page 2 second comment.
  19. Unbelievable. Sending prayers to Kathy and his family. Stan was such a great man. Goes without saying this place wouldn't be here obviously. I'm so thankful for this board. Go Browns beat the Falcons for Stan.
  20. I said 2 weeks ago this guy was going to have a good game against osu. Not because of his overall skill but because of his quickness and buckeyes offensive lines specifically prince's inability to block quickness/speed rushers
  21. He absolutely did in 2015. (10/17): Registered eight total tackles...Recorded 3.5 tackles for loss to mark the fifth time this season he posted 2.0 or more TFLs in a game...Collected 1.5 sacks for his fourth multi-sack game...Helped the Penn State defense accumulate 10.0 tackles for loss...The 10.0 tackles for loss were the most surrendered by Ohio State in 2015 And then defensive end Garrett sickels (who?) the year penn state beat ohio state in '16 had 3.5 sacks. Most of them coming against the same guy that willekes beat today (Isaiah Prince). I don't even know if that sickels guy is in the NFL. (Edit he plays for the Rams but guess what the Browns did have him on the roster in 2017.) Point being there have been plenty of guys that have dominated the Ohio State offensive line that haven't turned into Khalil Mack. Willekes like nassib started out as walkon.
  22. You must have forgotten Carl nassib made the osu offensive line look the same way. Slow down a little bit. Khalil mack that guy is not.
