  1. Hands inside the shoulder pads don't get called for holds ever. Those are the ones they say you can call a hold on every play.
  2. I know what Harris play you are talking about. His first "hold" They did a replay during the game with the camera right on him. His hands were inside the shoulder pads the entire time. There wasn't a hold earlier you didn't see as Randall was not within 5 yards of any receiver until the ball was in the air. You can clearly see that in video. His left hand is on the receiver almost simultaneously to his right hand tipping the ball but regardless his hand didn't turn or move the receiver. The browns still beat themselves but I don't blindly agree with all calls.
  3. This one they actually showed the replay of during the game. It was anything but a clear hold on Harris. It was a hell of a block. The announcers even said "they had to have the wrong number there maybe it was on njoku" or something along those lines. Regardless it wasn't a clear hold on Harris. I don't blame the officials at all for the game. the browns got out toughed out played and out coaches. The browns showed no discipline. My last two posts were just to say the refs did make mistakes that didn't effect the outcome of the game, but you just blindly saying they were right doesn't make you look any better than all the guys at my work today who solely blamed the officials. The browns earned 85-90% of those calls.
  4. I'll go back through and watch but this one right here was garbage. If its holding it means he did it before the ball was in the air. Randall was never 5 within 5 yards of him until the ball was in the air. You can't have defensive holding when the ball is in the air. That's called pass interference. Officials don't confuse the two lol. If they had called p.i. it was maybe but his off hand didn't turn his body so unlikely called but they literally just made up the call of defensive holding. Also of note the o p.i. you agree with that defender actually made illegal contact and held more than randall did here. Him and OBJ were just hand fighting. I was for calling neither but typically they don't call an offensive player for fighting off a guy who is holding them on their route.
  5. Arent you 2-1 straight up and 1-2 ATS?
  6. Dont forget trading for that lineman takes over half of our leftover cap that we need to be saving to resign our younger talents (Garrett Baker Chubb Ward)
  7. We didn't take any wrong angles on that play. No one had an angle to get to him because outside of the linebacker who got put on the ground Greedy was the only player on that half of the field and he was blocked. Henry is a solid back, but your infatuation with him is something else lol. I'll take chubb 10 times out of 10. We just need to not get behind the sticks because of penalties and give him the ball some more.
  8. Jiggins the password is tavern. Not your password
  9. If there needs to be a temporary one week moderator of it I will volunteer until mark gets back to his normal duties. I would hope though that moderation would not really be needed unless of course ghoolie makes his way in lol.
  10. Thank you for getting the tavern up and running zombo. I really enjoy being in there during games and chatting with fellow browns fan.
  11. That link is really easy you click it type jcam222 in your name field then pick your color (I recommend brown or black orange is hard to see) and type in tavern for the password. No sign up necessary.
  12. I got in. I tried browns cleveland stan and I could have sworn I tried tavern but I might have had a capital "T" or something. As far as having one required goes I think leaving a password is good. I'll post the password in the weekly game thread after the robot like thread is started by that one guy. Typically people will look there anyway.
  13. He did have a 79 yard punt in week 6 vs the Chargers last year.
  14. It took me to a place to sign in but it requires a password. I don't know if you set one up or not. A password for access to the room. Not a username password.
  15. Are we going to have a tavern for the game Sunday for those of us who can't get to Cleveland.
  16. Yes one of major concerns is Henry getting around the edge and into the second level when along comes ward. If ward still hasn't learned to tackle without throwing his head in there a collision with Henry is a concussion waiting to happen. If he gets concussed in game 1 he may be out for some time. He needs to go back to the rugby style tackling he learned at Ohio state his 2nd year there. Aim for the hip or front leg wrap around and twist.
  17. I have to give credit to Dutch oven as he was the one who originally suggested it here.
  18. No only players with less than 4 years in the league go through waivers.
  19. As I surmised earlier Willies did clear waivers and has been placed on the practice squad.
  20. Burris and Coley waived. Coley on practice squad. I imagine Burris will be as well. Drew Forbes to the IR.
  21. Defensive tackle Trevon Coley and safety Juston Burris were waived and the plan was to place offensive tackle Drew Forbes on injured reserve with a knee injury, but that transaction did not hit the wire Sunday afternoon in time but Robinson’s release maintains the 53. so we picked up the three off waivers and needed to move three off 53 man roster but didn't place Forbes on IR in time and since Robinson doesn't have to go through the waiver system he can't be claimed. He could royally fuck us and sign with another team but I would bet it was talked about and agreed upon prior to his release.
  22. Yes the browns have about 34 million left to spend but that is all carryover cap money from previous years. Which means once its used its gone and it's typically used for help resigning stars coming off their rookie contracts (Myles, Njoku Baker and Ward the 1st rounders next up). The nfl salary cap for this season 188,200,000 and the browns have 210,563,000 tied up in contracts this year. So they are actually 22 million over the nfl cap but had 56 million of "leftover cap". So let's say they went crazy and spent that 34 million bringing in a couple good players in trade bringing their total cap this year to 244.5 million. If they only have 56 million coming off the books this year in expiring contracts they would not be able to resign any of those players because they would already be at the NFL salary cap limit of 188.2 million (though it will likely increase to mid 190's next year) and would have no leftover cap to spend. Since they are already over the NFL salary cap I can practically assure you that they are looking to save pennies anywhere they can and keeping Gillan over Colquitt did have something to do with saving 2.2 million. Obviously they wouldn't go with a significantly worse player because they are in contending mode. Colquitt, right now, is one of the better punter in the league and a significantly better holder so age money and potential definitely played a role.
  23. It helps the cap we went cheaper at punter obviously by 2.2 million. Gillan set to make just under 500k vs 2.7 m for colquitt. We have spent 1.99 million on Teller McCray and Taylor. So right now we have saved 300k
  24. Don't believe he is practice squad eligible as he played in 13 games last year. The Practice Squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than two previous seasons on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s). An accrued season is a season during which a player has been on a team's roster for six or more regular season games Edit for all who had Willies above ratley like me. I just noticed Willies is practice squad eligible as he appeared in only 5 games last year so maybe that is why they waived him and not ratley. Neither one is going to be a important cog this year but they would like to see both developmental growth and if willies clear waivers (likely) then the best way to achieve that without taking up two active roster spots is to waive him and sign him to practice squad.
  25. If we're targeting players we can't get why settle for Godwin let's get luke kuechly Aaron Donald Derwin James or Jamal Adams
