  1. Stupid move?......only if you thought there was a chance of having a winning season. Pretty smart move....there is absolutely no chance of a qb controversy, no matter how bad Watson plays. With Flacco, there was a threat to further make the Watson trade look even worse than it already has.

  2. I hate the dumbass ratbirds more than I hate the Steelers. They have one thing we have never had. They have an excellent Head Coach, who can win under most circumstances. He should get Coach of the Year award every year. Lamar Jackson is a great athlete...a great runner... but he is NOT  a great qb. Without Harbaugh, he would never be anything in the NFL. Stephanski is not a bad coach, but he is not on that level...not even close. His game plan sucked yesterday....as it usually does. I'm not saying he should be replaced, but sometimes I wonder. Andrew Berry is the real idiot here. That genius has this rookie as a back up to Watson? I'm no fan of Watson, but this kid had absolutely no chance. It's very frustrating to see the ratbirds beat the crap out of us with lesser talent, consistently.

Yeah, I'm with you that Watson had one of the most disgusting games I've ever seen in a long time by a Browns QB.  However, I'm not throwing the towel in on him- YET.  this was a guy who not so long ago had a 70% completion percentage, and passed for 4,800 yards. That's sort of hard to ignore.

& FWIW, we're stuck with your garbage for the next year or two to the tune of $150+ million the Browns will have to eat if they admit he's truly a bum. :(

All I have heard from most fans, the local media, and plenty of posters on this board, is how Watson is an elite qb, top 5 in the NFL, BLAH BLAH BLAH....For those of you who still believe that, in the 8 games he's played, please give me one example...an offensive series.... that would even suggest that he has that potential.

You and your equally delusional buddy @lodilobo cling on to any Baker straw as long as you can, to argue: "see what the Browns gave up?"

The other day he posted about Baker having a game with a 98.9 QBR. A statistical outlier for him indeed. The very next game DW has a QBR of 122.4 (not an outlier for him, because in his last full season he averaged 112.4) and then it's: "yeah but, massage therapists."

    tumbleweed-desert.gif

Watson's 6 games this season: Avg. qb rating = 78.5....Mayfield's last 6 games: Avg. qb rating = 90.6...Fact. Not to mention...in that last 6 games, Mayfield has had 2 games exceeding the 122.5 rating that your hero had last week.

Still being on the Baker bandwagon would be considered antagonizing, if I gave a damn. It mostly comes across as delusional, if not deranged.

You're entitled to your opinion....just like everybody else. It's not like anyone gives a crap, though.

so, WE can discuss baker too, so you can STFU. and have a nice day.

The Panthers started winning AFTER they fired their HC. Before baker went there, they were losing. Their qb's got hurt.

and you are stupid. btw, here's your question: "What is 10 x 0" LOL

If you don't like OUR posts, then you can not read them. Put us on ignore.

Calfoxwc...Don't waste your time with this moron. He's here to antagonize, and that's all. The next time he says anything worth reading, will be the first.

Here we are in a Baker Mayfield thread and you can't stop talking about perverts and watching videos of dudes getting massages. So who's the pervert? 😂

Obviously you are...I'm not watching videos of your crap. I figure if your searching the internet for videos of Mayfield, you must be like a jilted lover who still can't get over him leaving you.

Here's a nice video of Baker running from the police and getting his ass slammed to the ground. Notice how slow Baker runs (lack of athletic ability). It looks like his head breaks the fall on the concrete wall. Thank you boys in blue!!!

Nice!...any videos of the pervert Watson in about a hundred massage parlors?

With Mayfield being a free agent after this season, do the Rams move on from Stafford and make him their starting QB?

Because Stafford wasn't exactly lighting things up before he got injured, and Baker is much younger. Seems like the Rams would be foolish to let Baker go, yes?

And is there any truth to the rumors that Sean McVay might pull a Dick Vermeil and walk away from the sidelines and go to a cushy TV position?

That conversation is the topic on the Rams message board right now....I would guarantee it.

At some point?  3 Pro Bowls to 0 in our QB comparison - while you're clinging tightly to a guy showing up to a 4-7 team after not taking a regular season snap in well over 700 days. Being demanding is fine at your end if you're also realistic with how quickly that will happen.

You know there were 3 TD passes dropped on Saturday and even the INT went through David Bell's hands first.  Accuracy wasn't the problem you wanted it to be for some reason.  Wind chills at 15 below zero were the same types of things that led to Red Right from an NFL MVP QB right?  That was an elite QB (that season) with an understanding some days are more favorable for passing on Lake Erie than those with wind chills of 15 degrees below zero or worse.

Carolina gave Baker a shot and I was very happy for Baker at the time.  My question to you is why is it the OTHER QBs there are putting them at least into a shot at the playoffs discussions with just 2 games left?  He's like rooting for a yo-yo some times.

If Matthew Stafford wasn't sidelined, Baker would still be in Carolina watching other QBs outperform him.

Maybe this final chance he's getting with McVay will produce the elite QB I thought Cleveland drafted once upon a time.  That's not our team though so why care so much about him?

When you bring up dropped passes, that could be used to defend Mayfield in many instances. Every qb experiences that. I can't answer much about Carolina, other than they are a bad team, over all. I'm not who you think I am. My only reason for jumping in on these Mayfield hating topics, is to point out how badly they screwed up this Watson deal. Why would you give this guy such a ridiculous amount of money, guaranteed, with his shady background, and after he hadn't played in 2 years?....and when he did play, he had great stats...except for the one stat that counts. He only won 4 games. This move is probably the worst thing they could have done. No first round picks for 3 years....screwed with the salary cap because of Watson. They did this after he said he wouldn't come here...didn't want any part of Cleveland...until they gave him the guaranteed contract. Believe me...there were plenty of games last season, when I wanted Mayfield gone, too....just not like this. I guess my question is...why do you care so much about him? I typically don't start any Baker Mayfield support topics. He's gone...I don't care what he does. But, I do care what the Cleveland Browns do. Even though I've been a fan for many years, this last fiasco has kind of put me over the edge...not unlike when Bellichik was here.

I'm not damning him; and I think you of all people know how many times I used to stick up for him.  I'm correcting guys that are pretending he's been way better than Deshaun Watson.

No...you're not correcting anyone. You're trying to make some of us see the situation from your twisted perspective. "Pretending" to you is actually reality. After "3rd string on Carolina" Mayfield, sucking so bad, he's still at a 98.9 qb rating, compared to Watson's 69.3 for this season. I can only judge a player by his most recent games. Mayfield is very inconsistent at best, but Watson....I have yet to see ANYTHING that indicates he is now, or ever will be a top 5 qb in the NFL.

  13. 13 minutes ago, Flugel said:

I was fine with what he did because I watched the game.  Cleveland Browns fans have a tendency to watch their team while Baker Mayfield groupies have a tendency to worry more about him keeping the career alive after he failed miserably in Carolina.

If you watched the game you would have seen TD passes bouncing off Cooper, DPJ and Njoku.  Last year at this time, Baker threw 4 INTs on Christmas Day at Green Bay.

Watson has been to 3 Pro Bowls and Baker has been to zero.  Watson's passer ratings throughout his 1st 4 seasons were way better than Baker's.

Those that were here, unlike you, know many of us wanted him to succeed here.  He had a very promising rookie year and even broke a record for TD passes.  Unfortunately, we didn't see the same guy the next year.  I thought his 3rd season was pretty good in a sense he threw 26 TDs to only 8 INTs and was opportunistic in the playoffs with all the short fields the defense got him intercepting Roethlisberger 5 times.  The game started 7-0 before our offense took it's 1st snap.

At least Baker looks like a starter playing for a Defending Superbowl Champion; because he only looked like the 3rd best QB in Carolina.

So....your point is that Watson WAS a better qb at some point....ok. I did watch as much of that game that I could possibly watch without puking. These excuses you're using for Watson, never were considered for Mayfield. Like I said...if your comfortable with Watson's stats...including a 69.3 qb rating for the season, I guess I'm just a little more demanding of a guy that is advertised as a " top 5 qb", "elite", and a "franchise qb". Especially, at the cost.

They showed this weekend, that since Carolina replaced Baker - they are now one of the teams in the NFC with a chance to make the playoffs.

Nobody really gives a crap about Carolina....unless you're suggesting that Cleveland should follow that example and get rid of Watson to enhance their playoff chances.

If anyone watched baker play for Cleveland they’d see a mediocre QB that couldn’t throw over his line unless it was 30 yards over his receivers dead.

the guy got benched for darnold and cut, reportedly locker room cancer.

he has two good games and now we all love him? Makes no sense.

watson played average which is whatever, but baker is not an nfl starter.

Average??...47.1 qb rating?...135 yards...0 tds and 1 int.??? ..if that's acceptable to you, then you deserve him.

Yeah, FYI I've been around the football world as long as you have....  Yep, Baker took the Browns to the playoffs...  You still giddy that Jim Brown won us the NFL Championship in 1964?  That's one outlier year for Mayfield, and what the experts opined about Baker rang true again Monday night, he's maddeningly inconsistent.  He was pretty pedestrian against the Packers, Captain check down..  And I saw at least one play where Baker had a two guys wide open (shades of the OBJ bitch) and he didn't see them.

Of course Cult Baker is still making excuses for him and can't come to admit Mayfield is another Andy Dalton who can only succeed if the surrounding cast is studly all world.

That's the problem with Cult Baker nickers... And it IS a cult. Should we analyze everything former Brown Jarvis Landry is doing with the Saints? Maybe rave about how great Jordan Poyer is playing for the Bills? Sheeezzzeee!!!!  I'm more than happy to let it go and move on.  THEY'RE the ones who can't let it go, and follow his every doing around the league like a bunch of pathetic lapdogs. I learned long ago not to fall in love with particular Browns players (with few exceptions). I still have a Tim Couch gathering dust in my basement as a reminder of that.

PS Tia- I hope you bet a ton on the Packers to cover last night. It could have been more than 12, if they didn't do a series of kneel downs to run out the clock at the end of the game.  :)

Holy crap!...you Mayfield haters are the ones guilty of not letting go. No matter what he does, you have to start a thread about it...not you personally, but the "Anti Baker cult" you belong to. I already stated more than once....I don't really care what he does, but I will defend him when you're comparing him to Colt McCoy. How many playoff games did Colt win when he was here? I have to correct about the '64 Championship game. Jim Brown didn't really have much to do with that one sided domination of the Colts. It was all Frank Ryan and Gary Collins.

  17. I have? My loyalty only goes so far. When this owner continues to destroy a once proud franchise like the Cleveland Browns, I get a little aggravated. I'm 72....I don't have the patience for morons I once had.

Since your reading comprehension sucks - I'll give you a comparison that's easy to understand. I'm a life-long Browns' fan; while you're just a Baker fan that wants to sniff his dirty jock strap.

It's not my reading comprehension at fault here. It's more your dumbass comparison of Mayfield to Colt McCoy.  I couldn't care less where Mayfield ends up....or Watson, for that matter. I get damn sick of you guys taking any shot you can at a guy who came in here, and brought this team back from 1 - 31 and finally gave us something to get excited about. Lifelong fan??....have you been there since 1960 like

I brought that analogy up because the NFL always has a place for both guys IF they can put football 1st in spite of their limitations for those that can't let go.  I like Colt McCoy (the same way I like Jacoby Brissett); and as a 3rd round pick - his NFL career has outlived a lot of 1st and 2nd round picks the Browns made before/after him.   The teams that employ them are happy they have a fill-in starter they can trust.  The Rams just did that for Baker after Carolina couldn't.

Baker had some success here as a rookie and sparked this team from the winless ranks to "gotta-see." He gave us fans some hope and long awaited excitement, even if just temporary.  I wanted us to draft the guy; and was happy we did so (until hindsight 20/20 reminded me the NFL has 32 film rooms that can find weaknesses to exploit - it was that or try to win an argument in lieu having intelligent conversation).  Some guys never get there and I think there's only 1 Vinny Testaverde that made Pro Bowls after 30/gray hair.

Aside from what Tia has shown us in this thread and his previous posts similar to it, the Dilfer-like panic attacks causing the dyslexic and premature progression reads incompatible with the speed of the game left a lot of open targets in lieu of the bad decisions.  More specifically, this isn't the Big 12 any more (same conference Colt McCoy came out of).  The difference I see between Baker and Colt is the maturity level required to maintain a leadership role that will keep teammates believing in you and what you bring. Also, Baker had some early success that he got complacent with.  For example, he was far more talented than the 1st 2 QB Coaches he had so he wasn't always open to their coaching. He was chugging beer at Cleveland Indians' baseball games; while preparing more for his wedding in the summer than training camp/football season ahead.  Another major distraction was doing all of the commercials that featured him.  All that, showed whoever needed to see it - this guy no longer had football as his #1 priority.

I'm a Browns' fan that once admired his "if you count me out - I'll make you sorry for doing so."  That disappeared when he became too content with his rookie year; and refused to put the work in on his weaknesses.  The Browns still worked around those weaknesses in the playoff season to get a 26 TD passes to 8 INTs ratio; but we could see what was in the way of him being elite. Adversity didn't bring me the guy I thought he'd become.  Am I giving up too early?  I don't know and I don't care.  And why?  He doesn't play for my favorite team any more.  That's more important to me than trying to win an argument about a guy that can't help us win any more than he could the last year he played for us.

Joe Burrow was just being a nice guy before he wasn't one on the field last Sunday.... Let's do ourselves a favor and move on before we have a love-tragic Romeo and Juliet ending on our hands in here.

This is an idiotic post. If you want to make comparisons, compare your boy Watson to Brissett.....he doesn't look all that good, does he?

Watson is a better quarterback than Mayfield.

that’s all that matters. He proved that during the cincy game that he’s only going to get better. At this time next year, we will see how Watson looks comparative to Mayfield. And go from there.

How in Hell did he prove he's only going to get better?? ....because he sucks in back to back games? WTF kind of logic are you using to get that conclusion? As Ghoolie stated....based on the last game each has played, Mayfield is clearly the better qb. I guess the real question is...would you rather have a sexual predator who had good stats 2 years ago, or an insecure head case, who, at the moment, is playing well?

  21. Baker is a headcase. For you morons that insist he doesn't have qb talent is just plain idiotic. I don't know if he will ever return to his early form, but I kind of doubt it. He over compensates with his remarks and public displays, for his fragile ego. Even though he seems to have unlimited confidence, as soon as he throws an int, or misses a pass or 2, he's done. He can't come back from mistakes. Still...after what I saw yesterday, I would take him over Watson all day long.
