  1. This sounds a little more in line. Browns looking at Darrel Henderson. Browns Host Darrell Henderson Jr. on Visit (msn.com)
  2. I think they think he will be the back-up after this season. What I am saying is I don't think they feel he IS a career back-up, or in other words they feel that he has the ability to be a starter.
  3. I'd consider it. As good as Nick is, he isn't all that good inside the 5. He isn't a hit the hole quick type runner. He is more feel type runner. Ford...who knows? Zeke is good in short yardage situations, much like Hunt was good in that role.
  4. And to add to my previous point, belicheck made moves like this in the past. I can't think of the QB's names right off, but a couple of them were drafted fairly late to sit behind Brady, and for one reason or another became the go to QB for QB starved teams and he was able to trade with for a pretty nice return on investment.
  5. Right on point. Dobbs is the back-up for this year, and he is more the wrinkle. DTR is more of a long term investment. One that will probably remain a back-up type, but you never know where things are headed 3-4 years down the road. I don't think the team drafted him with the intent that he is going to be the long term back-up, or at least only see him as a guy with a cap of back-up ability. I am not saying that to cause a QB stir or anything like that, just saying you never know what the future holds.
  6. True. In our case, I think that could be the case.
  7. I agree. BUT...when talking about a clear back-up, maybe that is the best concept. It throws a chage at a defensive team who has to adjust on the fly. It might not be the O you can use for 16 weeks, but IMO it is the O that can help win 2-3 games in a pinch in case of injury. Face it, if a QB can run a pro passing O, he probably isn't a back-up for long. If he can run a spread and run with his legs you have chance. I have a baseball background. It's kind of like throwing that soft tossing lefty who by arm action, sweeping curves, and change-ups can make his 85MPH fastball look like 97. To me, when you have to move from your starter, you want the other team to have to make an adjustment. Why follow up Nolar Ryan with another? They have been gearing up for the "EXPRESS", now make the ratchet down. That isn't easy to do mid game when the hitters have to start swinging 8" slower or faster. In baseball, I always talked to my pitchers about bringing a pitch in 8 inches sooner or later. Greg Maddux was the master. In baseball, 8 inches means the difference between the end of the bat or the handle of the bat, over the ball or under, not the beef of the bat. Learn to pitch medium, then adjust your speed up and down. If you can do that, it doesn't matter how hard you can throw....at least within reason. Same in football. If you have to adjust mid game, it is hard. Especially when a coach calling D has to adjust as well. It's not like a baseball coach tells a guy how fast or soon to swing the bat. Just see the ball, hit the ball. Fast pitchers, see the top of the ball. Slower pitcher, see the bottom to the ball. Maybe you will hit it square.
  8. So I take it you agree. It's a lot easier for a person or a team to 'boycott' a writer, or even an entire news outlet v. say a national press secretary who has to field questions. Locally, it is far easier to grant access to whoever they want. It's just human nature. If you were the sports star or team owner answering questions and you had two reporters wanting to ask the last question, one who is always grilling you or one who is at least softening the tougher questions, who are you going to call on? Kind of like when you were in school, yet opposite. If you knew the question you had your hand up as high as possible, maybe even waving it. If you didn't, you tried to hide behind the kid in front of you, hoping like heck the teacher didn't call on you. LOL, we have all been there.
  9. I don't know. I think that may be a syndrome that runs throughout sports reporting, at least on the local levesl. News reporting had undergone a major shift over the last 20 years. Reporting has gone from an advertising-based revenue source to subscription-based. In that shift, the reporting has to at least to some degree be what the readers want to read. No doubt you have some reporters who just lob up questions, but a few ask some pointed questions, but no doubt nobody is throwing "chin music".
  10. For me, it is a passing of an era. He was a legend of my youth and he WAS the NFL in the late 50's through the mid 60's. My wife and I were at the game where his statue was dedicated. We went over as Jim walked up to say a few words. We were both glad to have been there that day.
  11. Shoot Flugs, you have to cut Quincy some slack. He did pretty damn good for a guy with no thumbs.
  12. Midget isn't a PC term. You need to show a little empathy. I think the correct term is Munchkin.
  13. Tell them your occupation is FBI/Internet Fraud Division.
  14. And the deal is, the guarantee doesn't mean a whole lot. Teams don't move off QBs soon. If you also note, Watson isn't the highest paid QB. All these guys are getting 250 mil contracts. It is the going rate, like it or not. As for injury, all teams wait a year or two if their guy gets hurt, with the hope he comes back strong. If it is a career ending injury, teams have insurance on those top dollar players. Too much is being made out of the guarantee and dollar mount.
  15. Tough start to the season, but a chance to take over the division. I know we have to be smart, but Stefanski best not run camp cupcake. Our players need to come out blowing snot on every play. If not, the week 5 bye might see Stafanski's exit.
  16. Parked down there many times when Stan and crew held their tailgates. It was $5 the first few years. The parking lot isn't there anymore. They are building something. You could just jump on the waterfront line and it dumped you off right in front of the stadium. The Waterfront line has been down the last few years.
  17. It doesn't matter to me. For several years now I have parked at the Rapid station in Brook Park, bought my day pass for $5. So basically I park for $5 and get to miss all the post game traffic. I do have to walk to the terminal, but it isn't all that much further than any parking lot in which I might park.
  18. Probably about the same. I linked the seat viewer to the stadium from the Browns web page. You can change views to scroll over various sections and price per season ticket, though the pricing is the same for either side of the stadium .Divide by 10 to give you the face value per seat. At least the base price. Premuim games might show a little higher, some games a little lower, but that gets you the average price per ticket. Heading in from Seattle I doubt you are going to want to wait for last minute price drops, so expect to pay more per ticket. Even if you don't find a seat right away but have figured out when you want to go....book a room ASAP if you want to stay downtown, especially if it is a night game. As long as you book a room which you can cancel, you can always do that...and you can always find a ticket if price isn't a total concern. PM me if you want some advice on places to stay. Over the last 16 years of holding my seats, i have stayed in a lot of hotels downtown and the surrounding area.
  19. Yep. Let's face it, even our 1st pick is in a position where things start to get murky, and the odds decrease the guy will become a good player.
  20. As we have seen with Schwartz and numerous other receivers...Ross in Cincy come to mind, Speed doesn't make a good receivers. It's more the icing on the cake.
  21. His hands, body type, and the way he plays reminds me of Terrell Owens. Owen might have been a bit heavier and was faster.. What reminds me of Owens is Tillmans ability to use his body box out corners. If he can keep doing that, any perceived lack of speed is going to be mitigated. That may explain his seemingly low YAC
  22. I don't think Nick has done the off season stuff in Cleveland for several years. He goes back to his High School in Cedartown, Ga. and works out there with the HS team. Sort of a give back deal. He gets his work in. I know some vid made the rounds of him squatting 600 lbs last year or the year before.
  23. I wonder why they are going there? Probably some sort of team building deal. Nice place.
  24. LOl....no kidding. Like Mond was just kicking back acting like making the team was a lock.
