1. Also...some remember...getting the wheel well off usually wasn't all that hard, but getting it back was a bitch. That push out and up, then back and down on the lever in synch with the up down and in on the actual well was frustrating, especially as rust and road grim had accumulated.
2. Missing the portholes. Still pretty sweet.
3.
It's the NFL, you acclimate and play to the level, not the other way around
I agree. I never suggested otherwise.
4. No doubt players need to be held accountable. I agree 100%. As you said, "It's up to the D cord to make sure these players are versed in the language and can effectively communicate within that language." If the language is too hard, or the player is too dim to be able to do that, you best not play him. If it is simply a mistake, well, shit happens.
5. I am not saying guys like that aren't leaders. I am just saying that showing up to voluntary OTA's makes or doesn't make them leaders. It's all 7 on 7 stuff. Linemen of any sort don't do anything but stand around. There is some classroom stuff, but guys like Myles don't need that.
6. And do what? I am serious. Standing around is being a leader? Plus, who says Myles is or wants to be a leader? You don't pin the leader tag on the donkey. It just happens. Some special teams player can emerge as a leader. It doesn't have to be the best player. As fans we many times think the best player has to be the leader, but the players on the team determine who is the leader.
7. I am not so sure. To me the big problem was communication. That is on the D coordinator. Everything I gather is there was too much thinking and not enough reacting and making the O react to what you are doing. Teaching graduate material to an undergraduate class is on the professor if everybody is failing.
8. Yes,I have. You make my point. Those guys don't get to play. Running in an Okie, hamburger, or what ever name you want to use isn't playing. Practice isn't playing. That is why I say the NFL doesn't develop players. They plug and play players. Some may not play year one...but the benefit of that year is mostly going through the NFL routine. So in that respect it is development.
9. So you are going to go back 30 years to talk about tony jones? You are forgetting a lot of guys before and since. Playing is how guys develop...and some guys don't develop because they aren't all that good.. Heck, in some ways Wills has gone back in his play. So much for the OL coach making him better.
10. I don't know about that. I think all teams start to blend in veterans as the team gets better. I won't say our drafting has been great, but it hasn't been bad. As for development, I have never really bought in to that. In a win now league, teams can't develop players. Add in that most of these guys have been developed. Unlike other sports where you take some 18 year old and stick them in a G league or minor league, football doesn't do that. College football is a players developmental league. When they hit the NFL they better be ready to play. Playing is the best form of development, and in the NFL, they don' play. It isn't realistic to expect a NFL coach to mold and develop a player who isn't ready to play.
11. I hear you, Bob. If I lived where you do it would make things much easier. After a loss, thinking about the 10 hours or so drive home on Monday...that sucks. Add in I spend as much or more on travel expences....hell, I am talking myself out of them the more I type. lol It is what it is. Heck, maybe the Browns make it easy for me, win a bunch of games and make the experience fun.
12. I was never worried about you rooting for another team.
13. No doubt. When in shorts, you sure don't want to read about him missing all sorts of throws.
14. I am not saying he is garbage. He is an average, run of the mill TE who is paid and treated like he is elite. Just on the list of Browns TE's, obviously Ozzie is at the top. Joke falls somewhere in there with Heiden, Aaron Shea and Harry Holt. They were all decent enough, but weren't sitting at the top of the TE pay scale.
15. Well Flugs, I mentioned Njoku because he is still around. I have never been a big fan. One of the most overrated players in browns history, IMO. And to be fair to others points, if we sign Hopkins, welcome aboard. And it could make some sense. I don't think we are going to be interested in signing DPJ to another contract. Tillman or Bell seem slotted as his replacement. If Hopkins is signed, it would open up trade possibilities and ship DPJ for some sort of return.
16. I don't see how them sucking is a hollow victory for anybody. Well, maybe it would be for me. I have had my season tickets for 17 seasons now. I have been flirting with the idea of giving them up. The travel just isn't as easy as it once was. If they suck, it would make that decision a whole lot easier. Not to mention the $4400 I spend on the tickets plus the 3 days of travel cost. As for what it will take? Hard to say, or put a number on things. I guess I'll know it when I see it. I could see things work out where a team with 11 wins might not make a wildcard with the way the AFC is this year. It would be hard for me to call that a bad season.
17. I don't know my friend. You may be confusing the Haslam from his first few years as owner v the owner he has become. I think he is a pretty darn good owner. I am not so sure if he ever meddled, but I am sure he doesn't today. I think he has assembled a solid front office, and a coach still to be determined, but Stefanski has done some good things. You even said something about Stefanski being a scapegoat, which indicated you don't think he is all that bad. The last thing that is big for an owner is he isn't skimpy in the pockets. He opens the bank when his GM thinks we need to get a player. I am not sure what some people expect out of an owner. They don't play or coach. All they do is provide facilities, which seem to be solid, and spend money when necessary, which he has. Stefanski picked his coaches. Not the owner. Stefanski and the veterans on the team set the culture, not the owner.
18. I look for Coop to catch 100 balls this season. Adding Moore in addition to DPJ and maybe some others, I see Coop getting a lot of open looks.
19. I don't know. Some may disagree with the quality of the guys we have, but we have a lot of guys who will need/demand reps. We know that Cooper is a guy who can rack up 100 receptions in a season. So how many reps does that take? At least 100. I think Moore will get enough reps to rack up 70 receptions. Add in DPJ and Njoku...that is a pretty high amount right there before adding in the other guys who will get some targets. I think the team is pretty comfortable with the group as it stands. I don't think we are interested in breaking the bank to bring him in.
20. I suppose you mean Myles. Linemen don't matter. It might matter for new players so they can get to know some of their teammates, but linemen and backs don't have anything to do during these sessions. As was stated in the article, it is a passing camp, so unless I was a rookie or new to the team, why bother?
21. I am not sure you can get very creative with a short term contract. I doubt we would sign him for more than a year or two. Anything could be possible, but I doubt we sign him. Also, he is at the point in his career where he can pick and choose and Watson connection or not, i think he might have us lower on the list of preferred teams. KC would probably be his first choice.
22. Like I said elsewhere. This team needs to come out blowing snot. A slow start could end it early. I don't want guys getting hurt in camp, but I would rather that over setting out to game one dilly farting around. We have to win home games, especially home division games. We need a 7-2 home record to have a chance, with a home sweep of the division rivals. Otherwise we will get screwed by the tie breakers.
23. Schwartz is going to be dumped anyway. With Hopkins it will be all about if we can craft a deal. He isn't going to work for Schwartz money. We get some money June 1, so who knows?
24. Adrian Peterson? Naaa...Henderson seems like a good 3rd back to me. We have no idea on Ford. He may be good, but we don't really know. Henderson has proven yardage behind him. He was a stud out of Memphis. Felton doesn't have it, and the team doesn't seem serious about Kelly.
25. Let's face it. RR hasn't been played for maybe 25 years. If they want to keep and maintain a HOF, they have to induct somebody.
