Yeah Steve, I understand completely you're part of the Cult. You don't have a  valid argument about 90% of the shit Trump is currently charged with.  So you'd rather bring up Russian Collusion- fuck that pal.  FYI, Trump can't talk for 10 minutes without a major reality fuckup. Lies? go explain away those classified documents Donnie took with him down to Mar a Lago.  Now you want to say MSM is screwed up. Go listen to News Max, Red State, or Patriot Alerts, just like your other nut jobs get their news from.

It was so peaceful 1\6 the Capitol Police just won an appeal that they can sue the shit out of Donnie for physical and mental damages they suffered defending the Capitol from an insurrection.  FACT...  Have you had a swig of your Orange Kool-Aid today?

Exactly. Spot on with every point. Now fuck off. Thank you.

Sorry- all I see is whataboutism and more name calling...  Deflect away- and in my book that's a big FAIL. What you call nonsense, I call an alternate reality that you've deluded yourself into believing. Russian Collusion has jack shit to do with the current charges Trump is facing. Of course you probably believe that four separate prosecutors and the DOJ are all out to get poor widdle Donnie.   Hells bells- you apparently would rather believe a demented delusional pathological liar Steve.  Maybe you missed my saying 1\6 is only a small part of DJT's legal troubles- though it may well be the most important.

In case you missed the memo, the current NY fraud trial is only to determine how much Donnie is going to have to shell out as a penalty. And please don't think I'm so dumb to not realize whenever the verdict comes down Trump and his lawyers are going to immediately appeal it. Next, he's going to have to pay Ms Carrol a few more million because he can't keep his fat mouth shut. And.. And...  those court cases just keep on coming. :)

Because you call it what aboutism does it mean it's not a valid argument you have been obsessed with Trump since he ran for president so there's that. All these egregious crimes you think he committed are after he was out of office. And it's not what aboutism to point out the fact that they were based on lies from your party. There was no Russian collusion we wasted 4 years and millions of dollars. There was no call for violence as a matter of fact I posted the CNN interview where he proved to the lying host there wasn't. That's not what aboutism it's a dishonest and corrupt news media. Pure and simple.

    It's really cut and dried.

PS This threads actually about the fact that Trump can talk extemporaneously for a couple of hours were Biden can barely handle two or three coherent minutes. That's just a fact.

  4. The Shift

    Angel

    PG-13. 115 min

Hi everybody I think it's time for another one of my spoiler alerts. I realize that it's hard to stay completely unaware of a movie’s plot with so much advertising and word of mouth but this time I think it would be a good idea because I really think you should go see THE SHIFT. The blurb would have you think this is a fantasy/drama in which a man, in the manner of Billy Pilgrim, becomes unstuck not so much in time but actually the metaverse, and who will spend the rest of the film trying to get back to the love of his life. That's true but it's pretty vague and definitely a misdirection. Kevin's (Kristoffer Polaba) life as a money manager suddenly falls apart. While wallowing in his misery at a hotel bar an attractive young lady, Molly (Elizabeth Tabish) begins to flirt. It turns out she's doing this on a dare from her buddies, yet the conversation soon turns into a spark of attraction and eventually to a fire. In a few short years it's become a once in a lifetime romance straight from Heaven Itself. At this point I hope you stop reading andiare checking the local listings because here comes the part that I never could have predicted. Kevin is involved in a car crash and awakens battered and dazed in a back alley being tended to buy a strange man who calls himself the Benefactor. In the metaverse there are thousands if not millions or more parallel universes, each of which a slightly (or vastly) different version of the rest. Kevin has been transported to a dystopian world where people are starving and the streets are ruled by futuristic storm troopers and he and Molly are no longer together. The Benefactor shows Kevin that he has the power to send him back to Molly but, of course, there's a price. It seems the Benefactor (Neal McDonough) is recruiting and all Kevin needs to do to receive this ticket to paradise is to join the team. At this point I don't doubt that everyone has figured out the allegory but that's just scratching the surface. There are many more fascinating moving parts any one of which could spark hours of conversation. The riggt thing or the easy way out?

The casting is perfect the story is riveting and McDonough's performance is one of the best I've seen all year as he's skillfully walks the line between kindness and evil.

Regardless of where you are spiritually, I can't imagine that you wouldn't love this film and be inspired by the positive message at the end. I have no idea how this will fare with the Tinseltown crowd but from my perspective it is absolutely a must see.

    A+

  5. The Holdovers

    Focus

    R. 133 min

I'm going to ask you to trust me on this one gang. The short summary of the plot of THE HOLDOVERS is just about guaranteed to make movie fans roll their eyes at the shopworn premise. “A troubled and unpopular student and teacher are stuck together during the holiday break and form a bond and mutual respect.” I hear you; sounds like it came straight from Hallmark's big file cabinet of clichés, right? But before you dismiss it out of hand let me give you this music magazine analogy. There are thousands of songs that feature a C F and G progression but only a few that are outstanding. Among a small handful of November releases that held at least a modicum of interest THE HOLDOVERS got the nod because of one of America's least likely movie stars, Paul Giamatti. Short, pudgy, balding with a crooked eye but whose mastery of speech, facial expressions and mannerisms are unsurpassed in the business. He’s Paul Hunham, a strict, humorless and unpopular professor of ancient history at a mediocre boys prep school, not a very lofty career for someone who attended Harvard. There is a handful of students who, for one reason or another, aren't going back home for the Christmas break and one faculty member will be stuck with the job of staying to mind them. With no real friend’s family or plans Professor Hunham draws the short straw. After a few days one of the snottiest members of the little band of misfits wrangles a helicopter from his wealthy father to take the kids on a tropical vacation. Unfortunately, one member of the group, Angus Tully's (Dominic Sessa) parents are unreachable therefore unable to give permission to go on the trip. That means he and the professor are stuck together for a couple of weeks. I know it sounds cookie cutter but thanks to good acting, clever writing and direction, none of the situations, nor the ending, take the easy way out. That leaves the whole story with a bittersweet glow; not too bitter, not too sweet. By the way there's another nice subplot concerning Mary Lamb (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) the cafeteria lady. That's all I'm going to tell you but the good news is, even with a somewhat limited release, THE HOLDOVERS is apparently selling some tickets according to a couple folks, Craig and Kathy I spoke to at the theater who had come the day before and it was sold out. Also, the ticket guy at the Cinemark Bistro told me it's now on his go-to Christmas movie roster. I agree.

  6. Hunger Games 4 The Ballad of Snow and Songbird

    Lionsgate

    PG-13. 157 min

Years ago I struggled mightily to get through the trilogy of novels which I found to be bloated and boring. I had expected the same from the film versions but I found out that some artistic talent and boiling down the plot made all three episodes enjoyable. The books and films were very successful and of course with success comes the extension of a franchise and this one is a prequel. We know that in a dystopian world the games were created to intimidate/punish the people who lived in the districts and remind them it's a bad idea to rebel against the rich powerful and jaded rulers. Sound familiar? Two young people are selected from each district and placed into a surreal battleground to fight until there are only two left standing. This film is set many years before the first of the books and addresses some of same reasons and issues. There are a lot of similarities as well some good and not so good. One similarity is length, each of which coming in it ballpark two and a half hours but this latest edition seems much longer. Two the games are similar in societal impact but in this version they just aren't quite as interesting. Other episodes got deeper into each team from each district and their individual personalities. Here it seems like everybody is just thrown in at random. Beyond the protagonists Snow and Lucy Gray (Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler) the others aren’t really very interesting. All the films contain some wonderful futuristic imagery ingeniously blended with retro technology for a truly impressive look. On the other hand the actual battleground seems a little bit sparse. The cast? Let's just say that Peter Dinklage and Viola Davis don't rise to the level of Jennifer Lawrence, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland. Ziegler and Blyth as Songbird and Snow aren’t bad but…

So, because of the absence of chemistry and set up for any of the combatants, you never really understand the relationship between those two. You get the idea that there's a romance between the capitol official and the rebel girl; it's just never all that clear and never gets much clearer. On the positive side one thing that did impress me was the fact that Songbird is kind of a Freedom Fighter / folk singer whose underground performances serve an important role among the rebel underground similar to the recurring DJ in THE WARRIORS. Even more surprising I found that I really liked the Appalachian/Americana music the lyrics of which kind of tell the story of the movie as it rolls along. It reminded me a bit of THE TWILIGHT ZONE episode come wander with me.

Bottom line this entry is long and dull more like the original novel, but lacking the character development which made them interesting.

  7. Napoleon

    Columbia/Apple

    R. 157 min

Okay gang, a few thoughts just off the top of my head. I will pretty much go to see anything starring Joaquin Phoenix. Since 1993 he's gone from being the younger brother of River Phoenix who died of a drug overdose to one of the best actors in the business and regardless of the quality of the film you can [usually] bet that his role will be outstanding. Well hopefully you read this before you make your way to the betting parlor with your life savings because this is absolutely the worst performance Phoenix has turned in, and that shocked me. Director Ridley Scott who does have some talent and a lot of influence is perfectly capable of releasing two or three hours of crap and Napoleon is one of the weakest to snag a holiday opening. First of all I didn't go to this one for a history lesson and I figured if there were some inconsistencies with facts, well what the heck? Quentin Tarantino is famous for completely ignoing it as in INGLOURIOUS BASTARDS and ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD so I can overlook a little artistic license. Sure some of the BS didn't matter to the story, but it was stupid and unnecessary in most cases, for instance Napoleon was nowhere near the beheading of Marie Antoinette nor did she have a giant shock of white hair. He also never fired on the pyramids while on a campaign to Egypt nor is the tagline “he came from nowhere to conquer everything.” From an upper class Corsican family he never actually did conquer everything. Including England thanks to the Grand Old Duke of Wellington. But those aren’t really the problems with the movie; it’s events that may or may not have happened (who knows) but made one of history's all-time great personalities seem like a dimwit. Most of the film dwells on his relationship with Josephine (Vanessa Kirby) who has been accused of infidelity in the past but here is portrayed as a full-blown sh*t house whore who jumps in the sack with every Tom Dick and Pierre the minute is back is turned. Also, Josephine was six years older than Napoleon which led to at least one of the conflicts in their relationship; her inability to bear him an heir. Kirby, on the other hand, is 15 years younger than her co-star who is as the film begins, almost the same age as Napoleon was when he died. Phoenix doesn't even bother to give the character a commanding voice or dialect but chooses to play one of the world's most dynamic personalities like Rainman on Thorazine. As for Scott he doesn't bother to give any of the characters a proper accent making the British, Russians, Prussians, French and Austrians all sound pretty much the same.

The rest of the story, I'm assuming, is fairly accurate, i.e. his military and personal successes, failures, promotions and demotions with periods of exile in between. The battle scenes were big and sprawling and just a little bit dull considering the amount of money spent. At least they got the British and the allies correct when they were fighting in a square. Plus, since almost everything was shot in the rain or in the snow or in a gray stone castle, the cinematography was almost consistently drab. The costuming was pretty extravagant but come on, who goes to a movie for that?

In the words of Alexander Dumas , ‘Ce film est l'une des plus grosses morseau de merde de l'année.’

Aw, gee, you're wishin' and a hoping he's not going to get convicted for 1\6, that only knocks it down to 87 other felony charges FYI Steve.  You may think it's an unfounded charge, Federal prosecutors say differently. Like he had classified documents at MAGA-Retardo? Even after one of his lawyers f**king told him it was illegal?

It's also why I rarely bother responding to your delusional reality denying bullshit that's par for the course on this board. Lalalala Trump is totally with it.  My ass Axe, keep chugging the Kool-Aid if it makes you feel better. You do know he lies about everything right?  Well, Man, woman, person, camera, tv probably is too..... Because- as others have said, when they give you that test, they don't use relational things like man, woman- or door, open for that matter. Try an 8 word salad of unrelated stuff instead.... Like paint, spinach, giraffe, cloud, circus.... And say it backwards 5 minutes later. Yep, Donnie is a legend in his own mind, because he properly identified an elephant, or a toothbrush.   :D :D :D

You don't post here that often because I assume you only get drunk once a day. It may be for a long period of time but what the heck. But you post the same nonsense every time so who cares? You guys spent 4 years on the Russian collusion hoax. You LDSC* guys lied about January 6th. You're not the only guy to post nonsense but you're consistent. I realize people like Liz Cheney have a financial reason for opposing those who aren't supportive of the military industrial complex, but you? I guess there's plenty of Defense money in dayton.

  10. Yeah, who cares?

I don't do my own taxes and I doubt that any president's son does either. If anybody wanted to go for actual wrongdoing they need go no further than phone conversations in which Hunter threatened and bribed foreign officials with Promises of retributions from his father while he was sitting right next to Joe. When he and his old man get their subpoenas and indictments for that, call me.

ROTFLMAO!!!  You want a dictator? Vote for him, but I'd suggest you spend a few weeks in North Korea first before you decide.  Yeah, he's going to shut that border down on day one, just like building his wall and have Mexico pay for it.... Day two, Russia Ukraine war is over after he greenlights his pal Vlad to take over the country.  Day three, gas is two bucks a gallon again and inflation is zero... Day Four, you're going to have to pay the Presidential Trump fund $100 bucks to buy his super hero cards.   Get the drift yet? Probably not, Donnie LOVES the poorly educated

The reports are not incorrect but they are misleading. Flacco was on practice squad and players automatically revert back to the practice squad after a game when called up. Just a rule thing, browns didn’t send him back down - he’ll be called up again or given a full time roster spot.

Wknr were saying it was just some sort of  roster mumbo jumbo. Hopefully the Jets don't want him too badly.

Well unless the reports are incorrect it doesn't matter now. I thought it was probably the best quarterback performance of the season but you can't win without at least a few more of your key pieces. One of them being Myles Garrett.

As far as DTR versus Flaco I guess we're officially rebuilding.🤔
