It was important to us that we communicate directly with you regarding our decision to part ways with General Manager Who Cares and Head Coach Who Cares. We greatly appreciate Who Cares dedication and hard work while with the Cleveland Browns. We’ve made this difficult decision because we don’t believe our football team and football operations were positioned well for the future.

We are all disappointed with where we are and clearly understand your frustrations. We take full responsibility and understand you expect better from us. Your support and loyalty to the Browns is beyond compare, and as the stewards of this franchise, we take the task of creating success to heart. We are confident we will build a winning football organization.

Our focus as we move forward is on finding strong, smart leaders with high character who are relentlessly driven to improve our football team, willing to look at every resource possible to improve, and who embrace collaboration to ultimately make the best decisions for the Cleveland Browns.

We will approach the search for our next football coach and executives to lead our football operations with a clear vision regarding what we need to do to build a successful organization. Along with strong leaders, we need to build out a strategic plan, stay disciplined to it, and develop the right systems and processes to make better decisions for short and long-term success. We will be methodical in looking at candidates that epitomize the values we have laid out. While we understand the inherent challenges that come with changes, we’ve learned valuable lessons during our past four years as owners that will help us make sure we provide our team the best people, leadership and resources to succeed.

Our family is deeply committed to bringing you the winning team you deserve while continuing to try and make a difference in the community.

We are excited for the new opportunities ahead of us and embrace the hard work that needs to be done.

Respectfully and gratefully yours,

Dee and Jimmy Haslam

Puts his wife's name in the letter.

What an asshole.

Now we get to watch all the other teams get their coaches while the national media laughs at him and the Browns, then 3 weeks after everybody is done we will hire a DC from the Canadian league.

Great job Truckstop.

That asshole should just do us all a favor and sell the team to someone that knows what they are doing.

Im hearing a lot of talk about a guy named Shashi Brown......as if he will be the HOFO and lead the search....

First rumor

He's another fucking lawyer like Scheiner.

My dog dropped a turd in the backyard with more of a football acumen than those 2 lawyers.

With Pettine out of the picture, Haslam is expected to pursue some of the top coaching candidates on the market. Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reports Haslam has already laid the groundwork to interview Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase, who's expected to be a hot commodity this offseason. Gase was able to coax a productive year out of the much-maligned Jay Cutler, who posted a career-best QB rating this season. In his two seasons working with Peyton Manning as offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos, Gase called plays for an offense that led the league in points per game and total yards from 2013-2014.

In addition to Gase, Haslam is expected to target Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and former Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone as well. But perhaps the most intriguing rumored name on Haslam's list is Chip Kelly, who the Eagles dismissed last week after a turmoil-ridden campaign. Kelly went 26-21 in three seasons in Philadelphia and was awarded complete control over player personnel just last year.

Haslem has no clue, and he came from the Steeler Empire.

Another system, another roster purge.

Get ready for Pettine 2.0, Shurmer 2.0, whomever.

I have a sick feeling it's another 2 or 3 years of cellar dwelling.

Yes ... I made that up ... long running joke ... but I think he is the leader in the clubhouse.

He refused to even interview with us 2 years ago....After watching the owner blow out another coach in 2 years, I'd be more willing to bet he doesn't interview again. We're not getting Gase, or Kelly or Pagano. We're getting the 49ers water boy after all the other candidates take other jobs.
