Canadian Christian Faces Jail Time for Expressing His Beliefs at Gay Pride Event Two years ago, 51-year-old Bill Whatcott of Canada handed out flyers at a gay pride event that outlined the plan of salvation through Jesus. According to The Federalist, the pamphlets he distributed also allegedly said homosexuality is associated with sexually transmitted diseases, including HPV of the rectum. Last week Whatcott was arrested for his actions. His crime? "Willful Promotion of Hatred against an identifiable group, namely the gay community," reads a news release from the Toronto Police Service. And I agree nobody should be forced to live according to the bible or the koran or any other faith. People should have the right to decide these issues on their own. The message in the bible is preached (or read) and either accepted by some or rejected by others. A minister many years ago once commented he had a message that either made people mad or glad and nothing has changed since then. It will always be that way. When I was stationed in San Diego there were frequently street preachers and those who wanted to listen gathered around while those who didn't just ignored them...not a big deal but they didn't get arrested back then. Banning hate speech on the surface sounds like a good idea (who likes hate speech?) but who defines hate speech? I have seen how Big Tech defines it and it is mostly censorship that goes against liberal ideology. Before the left went hypocritical in the age of Trump they had this right all along about speech.
