Astros help out the Guardians with a 5-3 win over the Twins with the 21st consecutive quality start for Frambler Valdez, a new Astros record. Astros Montero gave up 2 runs in the 9th before getting bailed out with a liner right at Altuve who doubled up the runner who had gotten off 2nd base. No one out and two runs in at the time. Forced a grounder to 3rd for the final out. Whenever Montero comes in a game I cringe. He's just as likely to blow it as make the save.

Staring at years of Browns fans debating the morality of their starting quarterback, the face of their franchise, its nice to know that Cleveland has a baseball team that quietly is one of the better run sports franchises there is, with a roster of very likable players.

Hopefully the season goes a long time for the Guardians. It's been a really fun season so far. ....might be an important game,  hmmm.

Edit: After imploring people to get out and support the G's on a FB Guardians page, I thought I better take my own advice, and just got tickets to the Guardians vs Royals Sunday afternoon game on October 2. I'll be missing the Browns/Falcons game, but somehow this year, I think I can handle it.

.....edit add. A suggestion take a small pocket AM/FM radio to the game to catch up on BROWNS details.

I remember once we had about 25 guys going to a NYY at INDIANS game, Guidry's super year won his ONLY Cy Young that year......I brought a nice AM/FM radio together with a a 5" TV in it.  Sunday September 24, 1978, 4 days before my birthday.

BROWNS at Steelers on,  I ended up with a small crowd around me watching baseball and my TV especially when the game went into OT in Pittsburgh.

Oh Cleveland lost both, Guidry W 4-0, 9 inning shut out,   BROWNS lost 9-15 in OT and a really bad call.  I  (we) saw both.  Attendance in CLE  15, 855, I have the ticket stub and program in a box (somewhere) in our cellar or attic.

Guidry went 25-3 that year, he's 72 years old......today  August 28..... his last game 1 day before my 38th birthday,  I'll be 72 exactly one month from today....creepy,  huh.   :o

I'm so glad I saw both even in losses.

The sad thing is, I didn't even look at the Browns schedule before buying the Sunday tickets to the Guardians mjp... I knew the Browns would be playing, but truthfully, I didn't care. I also knew that I would miss the Browns game the following Sunday because I'll be driving to Columbus for my aunt's 80th BDay party. That's how little I am invested in this coming Browns season.

Luckily, we have a good Guardians team to follow.

Luckily, we have a good Guardians team to follow.

I remember watching the ESPN or was it HBO when they followed the BROWNS in training camp in Hue's first year.  I think I watched it and the replay of every episode which ended up being a disaster in the regular season.

This year I've only watched a few of the Building the BROWNS shows  -but-  I've only missed watching or listening to two of the Guardians games this year well partly because I volunteered to take the TRIBE FORUM and HIGH SCHOOL FORUM along with a partial on TBB so I wanted to overhaul the long overlooked TRIBE FORUM.

I also thought this would be an interesting Tito Francona overhaul year with the Cleveland Indians now the Guardians for what it's worth.   Well as the season progressed you could see some resemblances to previous good INDIANS teams including the 80s soon to be 90s powerhouse only with Tito in charge.

The main difference besides soon to be HOF manager to the late 80s team they had some power hitting bats....this team had the framework of what you need to contend pitching.  The 80s/90s team had Nagy and a good soon to be great bullpen this team has that now with 3 or 4 good starters and the growing BP.

SO we have a good BROWNS team with questions about the most important player in sports....the starting quarterback.   Great what a way to start 2022.  I will watch all of the BROWNS but am really interested in rhe 2022  "Young Guns"  Guardians.   Some 2022.

Game 128 Wed Aug 31 - BAL (67-60) at CLE (67-59) first pitch 6:10 pm.  #24 is better than 9 wins.

 Liles RHP #28 (9-9)  ERA  4.45  121 K  vs Tristan McKenzie RHP #24. (9-10))  ERA  3.17  142 K

     >~~~>  Game 2 next.  Time to break away in the AL Central.        Playoff ball  !

....  BAL  4-0  bottom 8.  Ouch a 2R HR in the top of the 8th makes runs now imperative !

...x....  BAL   4-0  Final.  You can NOT win if you don't score.  Kind of a lackluster game.  No excuses.

So see you tomorrow in an important  series game.  Tito's credo  " just win the series" is so true.

~ ● ★ ?  Magic Numbers  ? ★ ● ~

September 6, 2022.

Currently there are 7 teams have the Big E,  that's right they are eliminated   from post season play.  Golf tee times starting on October 6 for them, the season is essentially OVER.

Where exactly are the  Guardians  ?   Well they currently  at 69-64 .519  and in 1st place in the AL Central, whew right ?  Well only by 1 game they must keep playing and winning.   At their current pace they will finish  84-78,  they probably   will have to do better.   With 29 games to go to go 90-72 they would have to go  21-8....that won't happen.

I figure between 85 and 88 should win the ALC  depending   on what MIN and others do.  Keep beating KC baby !  The road to October baseball.

Do you know where the Guardians are and how they relate to the current playoff races ?   Just follow the  ●★ Magic Numbers ★●   it will answer your questions.    GO GUARDIANS  !    :D

Game 138   CLE (71-65) at MIN (69-68) at  7:45 pm.  McKenzie's numbers sure don't match his second half performance.

McKenzie zie (9-11) RHP #24  ERA  3.18  184 K    versus    Archer (2-7) RHP #17  ERA  4.47  83 K

weather delays suck ... but this happened - https://www.si.com/mlb/guardians/news/what-the-guardians-about-the-james-karinchak-foreign-substance-check

Baldelli goes with some gamesmanship tactics (he swings and MISSES)

there should be a cost of some sort - at the games level, like a replay request - revoked if you challenge like he did,

and was wrong?
