weather delays suck ... but this happened - https://www.si.com/mlb/guardians/news/what-the-guardians-about-the-james-karinchak-foreign-substance-check

Baldelli goes with some gamesmanship tactics (he swings and MISSES)

there should be a cost of some sort - at the games level, like a replay request - revoked if you challenge like he did,

and was wrong?

That was great !

.......Credit to Karinchak, who usually has a wild presence on the mound, calmly walked to the umpire, complied with the check, and carried on after the umpire gave him the all-clear.

As for Rocco on the other hand, it must be pretty embarrassing to challenge an opposing pitcher for cheating only to be wrong. .....

Nice call Rocco.    Moving right along thank goodness the Guardians have future HOF manager Tito Francona.

~ Saturday ~        And only 24 games left and a 1½ game lead, 2½ over MIN.   I hope you're enjoying this.   :)

Game 138   CLE (71-65) at MIN (69-68) at  *7:15 pm.   McKenzie's numbers sure don't match his second half performance.

McKenzie (9-11) RHP #24  ERA  3.18  184 K    versus    Archer (2-7) RHP #17  ERA  4.47  83 K

■~~~>     >~~~>  A big Game 2 of 3 coming up.  McKenzie is a key pitcher,  get him some runs.   Playoff baseball  !

....  Game on !   The earlier schedules had it FOX 7:45 things do change /  WHOA, CLE a 2R HR !

....  CLE  5-0  top 6.  Looks like yesterday until it got real interesting.  Bottom 9 CLE 6-0 no sweat, right ?  Kwan absolutely stole a HR away in the 8th...on national FOX TV.  WEB GEM of the day.

.....✔️.....  CLE  6-4   FINAL !   WHAT AN INCREDIBLE 8th and 9th innings.   OMG, whew.

....  CLE  6 7 1   LOB  9    MIN  4 12 0   LOB 9   CLE had a shutout going, ended up Clase for out #27.

Game 139 - Mon Sep 12 - LAA (61-79) at CLE (75-68) at  6:10 pm.   Interesting pitching matchup.

....   4-4  now  top 5.  LAA another  2R HR, tie game.

..... ✔️.....   CLE  5-4  FINAL !  Exciting 9th inning Clase in, 2 outs, 2 strikes and POW !  the ump gets a foul tip right into his mask.  Shook him up, couldn't finish with 2 strikes.  The other ump has to get his gear and get in. Clase warms a bit an 8 minute delay well strike 3 game over CLE W4. Some game.

So you never know what you will see at a game like tomorrow. at 6:10 pm.  Good evening  everyone.    :D

addendum to Monday 9/12/22

another add on (if you will) this time featuring a red hot Tito Francona

over a 4 blind mice umpire crew!

https://www.mlb.com/news/terry-francona-ejected-in-guardians-win-over-angels

I saw that Hedges interview after the game, I'm sure that feeling radiates through 100% of the team.   Also why Tito Francona is the best manager in MLB !

“Sometimes things don't go your way,” Guardians catcher Austin Hedges said, “and when you have a leader up top that has your back, those are the situations where you’ve got to go to war, and sometimes it doesn't look good. It's nice to know that he has our back and when things don't go our way, he's going to go stick up for us.”

It's getting to the point that if the G's can go .500, it will be tough for the Pale Hose or Twins to catch them.

But.... there's a decent amount of head-to-head matchups left.

Well this is the first time in 2022 that I can put up all of the games from today's game  9/15 until the last game 10/5.  It boils down to beating MIN and KC with the last 9 games at home  the last 6 versus lowly KC.  Not NYY, TOR, HOU, SEA but as I've said before..... "win against KC"...... and you can control your own destiny.   Even .500+ versus MIN would be nice.

Check it out for yourself.   Sometimes it's hard to be the top dog and everyone is chasing you.  One more 🔑 key in this Tito Francona.    :D

That pretty much put the final nails into the Twins coffin.

They had a great chance to get back into first place a week and a half ago, with eight head-to-head games vs the Guardians, but then they lose the first six.

The G's still have the White Sox to contend with. Three games in Chicago coming up next.

Oh something else going on Aaron Judge going for some historic records in the non steroid period.  Too bad that * footnote is there.   That * unfortunately hurt MLB forever in a big record.

And 60 and 61 should be the MLB standard everyone should be talking about Aaron Judge this year a big man and a big record  NO ASTRRICKS !

Most HR in a season, MLB history -- with totals through 146 team games:
2001 Barry Bonds: 73 -- 63
1998 Mark McGwire: 70 -- 62
1998 Sammy Sosa: 66 -- 58
2022 Aaron Judge: 65 (current pace) -- 59
1999 Mark McGwire: 65 -- 55
2001 Sammy Sosa: 64 -- 54
1999 Sammy Sosa: 63 -- 59
1961 Roger Maris: 61 -- 56
1927 Babe Ruth: 60 -- 53.

...... Judge’s pursuit of Maris’ 61-year-old mark has been one of the leading storylines in the Majors this season, especially in the second half. The scene promises to be electric at Yankee Stadium beginning on Tuesday, as Judge and the Yankees return home to face the Pirates with all eyes upon their superhero-sized slugger.

“It should be really special,” manager Aaron Boone said. “Obviously, we’re in a pennant chase, and Judge is sitting where he is. There’s going to be added buzz every time he comes up. I experienced that in the NL Central playing against Sammy [Sosa] and [Mark] McGwire in '98. Every time, it’s an event.”

And there is more to Judge’s game than swinging for the fences. With four hits in five at-bats on Sunday, Judge is now batting .316, one point behind AL leader Luis Arraez (.317) of the Twins and tied with Xander Bogaerts (.316) of the Red Sox.

Owning a substantial lead on the AL home run and RBI leaderboards, Judge has raised his average 20 points this month to challenge for baseball’s first Triple Crown since Miguel Cabrera in 2012 and the first by a Yankee since Mickey Mantle in 1956.......

■~~~>      >~~~>  Game 5 of 5 in this drive for October baseball in Cleveland,   that's important.   Playoff baseball   !

Guardians finish off the Twins in style this afternoon 11-4, and end up winning seven of eight vs now former second-place Minnesota in the last week and a half. The G's are now in first by four games over idle Chicago, with a big three game series vs the Pale Hose in Chicago starting tomorrow.

And they are on an unheard-of  12 - 4  run now and yes the end of the 2022 season  is up now.  And the Guardians finish with  9  home games  to end this incredible season.

Maybe they could sellout a few more games in appreciation for what this young team and future HOF Manager have done.

- GO GUARDIANS,   finish it right.

Went to the Guardians site and looked at tickets for the Friday game vs the Royals for the final homestand to see how tickets are selling. (I'm going to the Sunday afternoon game)

Looks like plenty of good (and not so good) seats remain.

I was coming back from the movies and listening to Hammy and the top of the 7th.... G's scored twice to tie the game at 3, should have scored one more, but the home umpire apparently missed the call at home. Guardians were out of challenges because of an earlier challenge they lost, so still tied.

I listened to that - apparently the Gs had no challenges left because of an earlier one they missed on.

wouldve been the game winner too judging by the boxscore.

i left the radio after 8th

woke up to a win - just wow

the bats came alive for an extra inning run fest...

I watched through the 10th, went to bed after the White Sox tied the game off Clase.

Woke up about a half hour befofe my alarm clock goes off and had to look to see what happened, very pleased when I saw they erupted for five runs in the 11th!

White Sox really needed to sweep the G's, even if they win the next two they will have only gained one game in three days, and time is running out. Guardians magic number is 9.

After another rain delay start......  CLE  1-0. top 6.   Civale hanging in there !  On a 75-80 pitch count.....  turned it off in the 8th.

OH THOSE AMAZING  CLEVELAND GUARDIANS  !    10-7  in 11.   I was looking for a good stat for the game, here it is....

Batters faced:   Civale 20; Sandlin 5; Stephan 4; Karinchak 3; De Los Santos, E 3; Clase 5 (WP 3-4) (BS 4) Shaw 5;  versus    Cease 24; Lambert 3; Bummer 4; López, R 3; Hendriks 3; Graveman 5; Diekman 7 (LP).     Winner in the end Cleveland.

And not one .300 hitter on the whole team, 5 or 6 near it   -but-  any 1 through 9 can get you !

You can never say die on this team.  Tied in the 9th, again in the 10th and 5 in the 11th.

And  First pitch:7:50 PM. 8:50 ET.   T:3:57 (:40 delay).   Almost 4 hours of baseball late into the night.

See you Wednesday  at   8:10 pm.   And good morning everyone,  (81-67)  still in 1st place.      :D

Triston McKenzie just finished the 8th inning with his 13th strikeout, the G's have a commanding 8-2 lead.

White Sox shortstop last week in an interview said something along the lines that "Everyone knows the Guardians will crumble down the stretch"....

The Guardians should send boxes of Crumble cookies to the White Sox locker room tomorrow.
