  1. Grateful to see some of the signings, though I have my concerns. - ZDS and his knees holding up all season. Upside, he's our most consistent player in sliding edge to interior where he brings additional value. - Mo Hurst finishing a season healthy. - NFL not up'ing the active roster spots to account for the 17 game schedule. This hurts the bigs more than anybody. Which is why I believe OL and DL depth is at a premium.
  2. I can't be that harsh with Baker. He isn't living off the coattails of Evans, Johnny clearly did. However Mike makes Bakers life a bit easier and, by no coincidence, the mistakes that plague him, a lot more minimized. Mikey is a HoFer in my mind, just a high ceiling and consistent performer his entire career.
  3. Pittsburgh started moving to some of those split, gap and zone reads the back half of last year with Kenny. Isn't all that far removed from what Russ did quite a bit of in Seattle, even with the 'false' reads (gives the whole way) It's a natural fit for PIT and Russ, IMHO. No off-field issues, fits their workman culture and willingness to re-focus on the running game.
  4. Not yet, but I'll look around and vet some things for you. There's a reason it's called a 'language', my guy. Because that's what it is. You learn either by studying or immersion.
  5. We're just doing the Lord's work by helping that a long. At least ours in tongue-in-cheek. It isn't so much about #1, #2, etc etc but about the role. The general understanding is to have 1 elite pass catcher to structure things around, and to have competent role players around him to compensate for a defense over committing their resources to slow down said weapon. Coop is still the "#1". With Tillman sliding into that classic 'X' role. This leaves Jeudy, with his quality footwork, to pickup meaningful snaps all over the formation. Let's not forget about Njoki either. Bell and Moore, one has 2 years, the other 1 year, remaining on their rookie deals. Teams tend to carry 6 receivers. Plenty of room for them and target distribution. Which reminds me, I'm just getting caught up after like....a month. There was another post of yours I was going to respond to that I'm just now remembering.
  6. I'd say the big 3 involved are LB, IOL + IDL. Swing tackle for later rounds now that Jed's contract has been restructured. That said, the more I think about it, the more I think @Flugel also has the pulse of it as well - don't rule out DB. Our safety play was pretty tragic at times, no more so than against Houston. Ronnie Hickman hasn't improved on his struggles at tOSU and those early "elite" grades from PFF had people really in a false sense of security about his abilities.
  7. The same Baker that Tampa and himself are (rumored) to be at an impasse in terms of $ per year? With Mayfield believing he's worth A LOT more than the Bucs are willing to pay. Should be interesting to see how that shakes out.
  8. If true, that's an absolute steal. Also reaffirms why they were looking so lightly at WR for combine meets and more IDL + IOL
  9. The biggest difference between Brady and Flacco isn't their physical shape. Not now, not ever. Joe had always made questionable decisions and, as most Browns fans forgot until the Houston game, he will continue to do so. Flacco had a great run (with some help) once. That does not make him a great QB.
  10. Some Y's have pretty decent equipment, almost no crowd and you can get a pickup game of hoops in.
  11. I'd have to argue against the Levis call, because I liked that kid in the draft and he flashed some of the goods in a shakey situation in Tennessee. Pats were actually the first team that came to mind. When Denver started winning this year, they went back to the running game and let Russ cook off 1st down ball action and his scrambling ability. The Hallmark of BB in the early and post Brady eras.
  12. Ryan Watts, former Buckeye - had a 4.5. Tall, long armed, on-ball DB.
  13. What you're saying makes no sense and nobody with an ounce of sense should make that argument. You're getting input and a workout environment from some of the best trainers money can buy. If anything, it's good seeing Myles with Lebron. The dude has been a tank the overwhelming majority of his career. He and his trainers can impart some advice to maintain health, along the lines of what Brady preaches with muscle pliability.
  14. Bingo. LB play hurt us more than WR play this past season. Sir, this is a family environment. Not sure we can permit such dirty talk on this board.
  15. Speaking of Detroit IDL - Alim McNeil is going to get PAID 😭😭
  16. What do you think drives clicks for advertising? It's the off-season. And, despite the fact that there is plenty of actual good football material to be unpacked and shown to fans from the course of the 2023 season; we instead focus on the lazy, the inflammatory and intrusive. Sports media is tabloid media.
  17. This is why, the top adds and bonus bets with promos at the forefront of EVERY gambling site/app are usually parlay based. A couple reasons. - bet:win ratio which entices gamblers to "only" spend a much lesser amount. In turn, you get people who nickel and dime themselves to death off $5-20 bets. It's no different than playing scratch off lottery tickets in that case. Not so much in odds, but in them essentially being micro transactions where you will lose the majority you play. But you'll chase the high off one win. I have a buddy of mine, god love him, that's been chasing a 5 leg parlay from a couple years back that won him just over $1000. When I told him to look at his total win/loss over that same span, he "felt" he was hanging around even, he was pretty well in the red. - parlays are (long term) mathematical Russian roulette. Only difference is you have 5 in the chamber of a 6 shooter. So really it's suicide. The combined risk to sink all, with even a push costing you your ticket, are what books count on. Where else, especially with these books being businesses that fight for customers, in typical single wagers, a push now means your initial bet is just refunded. 6 years ago a push meant a loss when I was studying. I said it on here before, but the ability to emotionally remove yourself to make smarter decisions is a rare tool people work to develop. The NFL knows people have an emotional attachment to their teams and will blindly back them in religious devotion. Books know this, they are not your friends and absolutely count on these things to take advantage for their profit. Hell, half the wagers I've made on the Brownies the last 5 seasons have been against them when they, or their opponents, been over/under valued in the market.
  18. Oh I know. Myles winning, more specifically enjoying the yinzers crying about it, has been covered quite a bit on this board. But when you're nothing but a poli board troll who only checks in to troll the football side to make it look like you're "apart" of the board... Yeah, you tend to miss a lot.
  19. It isn't just the double team rates, but a combination of that, drawing opposing blocking assignment, pressure rates vs double team rates and alignment. Where Myles rushed from the interior quite a bit more than Watt. To me, anyway, interior pressure scores > edge pressure scores. This is why Aaron Donald had been considered the most dominant defensive player in the NFL for such a long stretch.
  20. Dear god, shut THEE fuck up. Just like a couple other posters on this board, you're in the closet. At least in your case it means being a Steelers fan.
  21. There isn't a hetero man alive that says this sort of thing to another man. Now things are really starting to make sense. Old boy is raking his leaves at night. Edit: oh shit, a random power ranking list?!?! Damn, that's it, Watson should retire.
  22. No, no, no, no. But mention Baker and I swear to Christ, dude has a Bat signal go off at his house to jump on this board.
  23. Sometimes, despite your best efforts, you still end up losing a game. Can't win em' all. That last Superbowl loss in 2019 looms large under the wound of the most recent loss. Great leaders hold themselves and the proper people accountable. Kyle Shanahan is a great coach, play caller and offensive mind. But the one thing severely lacking in this world are true leaders. I don't view young Shanny as one given this development.
  24. I'm still trying to find time to finish up my diagrams of the Wildcard loss. Defensively, from the mind of coach Spaggs to the rushing technique of the Buckeye duo on the Niners edge, there's a lot to unpack and enjoy from that side of the ball alone. If you appreciate defense, like you should, it was a solid game.
