The Ratbirds have Roquan Smith & Patrick Queen. Pretty good combo right there.
My opinion is the Browns have been weak at LB since 1994. You can't rely on DBs to make all the tackles.
This ^^ Look at the final 4 teams that got in..👀
Schwartz needs to get Berry to rethink it at the position

These are some random thoughts. The Browns BIGGEST challenge seems be what they are paying to guys that are rarely healthy. Here's a few examples:
1.) Anthony Walker - love the leadership, experience and consistency when he does play. However, he only had 3 starts in 2022 - and it sure felt like he missed more games than he started in 2023. Seems like I'm more attracted to the IDEA of him than the REALITY of paying him to watch someone else play his position.
2.) Jack Conklin - When healthy - there isn't a better run blocking RT and he's a reliable pass protector as well. Key word in that sentence is WHEN. WHEN we can't ever get/keep him on the field - I'm only attracted to the IDEA of him. The Browns gave him a generous raise/extension going into last season.
3.) Denzel Ward - Luckily, he only misses a few games a year so far so he doesn't totally fit the same concern as the 2 guys above. That said, he's an elite corner so he's not cheap. When he doesn't play, think back to the Denver game with Ward inactive - promoting Newsome to #1 corner covering Sutton. I had bulimia watching that. I'm not ready to hope we give up on Ward - I'm just worrying out loud about age/wear and tear increasing the missed games each year moving forward. If you have a Revis Island out there - you don't want post the sign "Sorry Revis Island is closed again - check back with us in a couple weeks."
I'd have to put more time into this list than feasting on Senior Bowl practices at this time..
3) We're not replacing Ward nor Newsome without any 1st round picks. Replace Ward with paying Jed Will's 5th year option, for the time being Trade Will's 5th, to the needed Panthers or Jets for higher pick
2) Maybe wrong? But Conkin fit's #1 & believe his contract has 1 year left?
1) Paying Anthony Walker's mini contracts don't really bother me.. I just think his knee's aren't worth the risk anymore
- I may find 3 at combine tampering period to cut loose 🤣

Somewhere Brandon Staley is saying "Great calls Dan, I would've done the same thing".
what we already knew..
Dan Campbell would handle the press conference with class with few regrets
Brandon Staley would still be telling us "than we don't know anything about 🏈"

It appears that somebody has made a mistake here. I'll say this about AVP...he did the one thing that nobody else has done this century, he won us a playoff game.
Former ST coach Mike Priefer coached the playoff win.. since, Mike Priefer landed a college coaching job at Kentucky
AVP did call plays in said playoff game
1 hour ago, Orion said:Either Buffalo fired him and he's actually not very good...and we made the mistake. Or Buffalo knee-jerked and he IS good.
Can't image Stef changing anything. Listening to the offensive position coach's weekly pressers from last season. Stef, AVP, Stump & Callahan all had weekly scheme discussions they'd assist putting into the weekly game-plan. Those position coaches just got re-booted.

Thanks Gumbs! Yeah, he's THAT impressive!
small stuff makes my day 🤣
Roman makes a lot of sense. I'm not seeing a honest hard nose coach like Roman from that side of the ball. (a Schwartz) If Lamar can take hard/critical coaching? Why not D.Watson ?
59 minutes ago, Orion said:We have a HC who calls the plays. He's not going to stop calling the plays. (HC's that call plays require the play-chart to be pried from their cold dead hands) IMO, the new OC will be an assistant to the play caller. And will hopefully bring some fresh ideas to incorporate into Stef's system.
This offensive coaching staff, started getting weird when Mayfield didn't want a QB coach. So Stef, sent AVP along side Baker on the bench with the windows tablet.. Have we seen anything change since Watson took over the position?
Stef's thinking... OC/QB coach ?

I can't say that i am really enamored with any of them.
Agreed.. ^^
somewhat hoping the 49'ers lose this weekend
Klint Kubiak - Pass Game Coordinator, San Francisco 49ers
Kubiak started his NFL coaching career with the Minnesota Vikings as an offensive quality control coach from 2013 to 2014, where he coached with Stefanksi.
Gary Kubiak is Klint's father and assisted Stefanski during his full season as offensive coordinator with the Vikings in 2019, while Klint was the quarterbacks coach on that staff.
He took over as the offensive coordinator for Minnesota in 2021.
Kubiak, who will be 37 years old in February, now has almost a decade of experience working with offenses, and his past year on the 49ers coaching staff has made him even more intriguing to clubs searching for a new offensive coordinator.
Note: Interviewed for the Saints Offensive Coordinator job. (Zoom meeting)
Brian Griese - Quarterbacks Coach, San Francisco 49ers
While Brian Griese lacks play-calling expertise, the Browns are not looking for a play-caller. The former NFL quarterback worked under Kyle Shanahan for the last two seasons.
Griese scouted Brock Purdy and helped bring him to San Francisco. Under Griese's watch, Purdy emerged as an MVP candidate in 2023-24.
Griese will be getting looks as a potential offensive coordinator this hiring cycle.
Note: Interviewed for the Saints Offensive Coordinator job. (Zoom meeting)
kinda shocked, more teams haven't done the same ^ ^ ^
I'd have more interest in meeting with Kubiak.. more offensive background than most we've met with.

Sorry to see AJ Green go. He was someone that you could pull off the shelf and put out there on the field and play your normal defenses. Sorry to see Watkins go too...but obviously he wasn't going to play here. Our WR situation got pretty bad at season's end and he still couldn't get on the field. I hear that we offered him a futures contract but he decided to go elsewhere. I can't say that I blame him.
Hard to believe WR Austin Watkins only saw 1 activation up from PS, after what we saw in preseason.
Berry/Haslam paid UDFA AJ Green the highest bonus of 145k to sign in 2020. 100k to Watkins to stay
AJ Green playing in 34 games in 4 years in this NFL CB pricey market? Career Earnings: $3,177,615 https://overthecap.com/player/a-j-green/9255 (click history)

Good luck, AJ Green.... Job well done as a Brown !

Yeah, we'd take a WR like St. Brown on the browns
and If Oregon Ducks RB Bucky Irving adds a Gibbs like running/passing game? That Too !
Lions 31- 17 5 mins lefts
Browns 2024 Unrestricted Free Agents
in THE BROWNS BOARD
Posted
All good Flug, D. Ward certainly has had some tough injury luck.
maybe to add to what Mudfly posted about losing 1st & 2nd round draft picks
how many games, have browns GM's paid players, in missed games with the higher draft picks since 2017 ?
Add D. Watson & it's hard to image this team was still a AFC playoff 5 seed.
