I thought he had turned his life around. That is too bad. He's gone. IDL in the first round I think. Season's over....all that money.... I guess he reverted to the same problems in the past. All that talent going to complete waste. He just threw it all away.

Jordan Davis or Demarvin Leal. wr in the second round.

I couldn't help but think of the "same old Browns." These are the exact kind of stories we were used to previous to the last couple of years.

I think we all have a little bit of that in our head. The guy was a minority shareholder in the (despised) Steelers organization. As much as we hate the Steelers, they certainly seem to run their team in a well thought out manner.

I want to give Haslam some credit for laying low the last couple years. I think he realized he was meddling way too much, impeding any progress.

Now comes the tough time for Haslam....the losing and finger pointing by players, fans, local & national sportswriters/broadcasters....can he remain in the background? Easy for me to say, he needs to TRUST Andrew Berry and let him handle things.

Please, let's not go backwards & do the lather, rinse, repeat thing of firing everybody and starting over.

Word is that Jimmy has begun to do just that: meddling again. He's been since about halfway through the season, so hold on.

This is a passive-aggressive garbage post by the OP. Nobody gives a shit about this final game, we are out of contention for the playoffs. There will be no “I told you so” if we win with Keenum, while the Bengals should damn well be resting their stud starters.

I’ll turn the tables. Last year was the “perfect storm” for Baker. In 2020, Baker benefited from the best o-line in the NFL and the best running game in the NFL. Stefanski made him look better than he did. We had no major injuries on offense outside of Odell in 2020, who Baker had zero chemistry with because Baker is a one read quarterback. This year our RB’s were banged up, we had injuries to the o-line, and we asked Baker to step up and be the man. He couldn’t do it.

Out of the last 20 years, including more than 100 QB’s, Baker is near dead last in 4th quarter crunch time stats. He has no athleticism and has the mental/emotional maturity of a 12 year boy. We will never win a Super Bowl with him ever. This year wasn’t a down year for Baker, this year is the normal for Baker - you’re not going to have the number one o-line and running game each and every year. A quarterback needs to be able to pass the ball, not turn the ball over (Baker has more interceptions than any other QB since 2018 and we're a run heavy team), and lead us to a field goal or a touchdown in the 4th quarter. It's not his shoulder, it's not the lack of a #1 WR - we had a #1WR and Baker sucked so bad he went to another team where he's scoring a touchdown every game.

While everything you wrote is true, we still got to see Baker sans all the injuries to know what we got. I can't imagine trying to play an NFL QB with a busted shoulder, even it being the left, non-throwing one. I think the more glaring problem lies with a meddling owner.

Here is a couple "factoids" for you Larry:

    1. Baltimore was missing 25 players. Shut up, and let that sink in.

    2. As for owning the Bungles, we've won 6 of 7 contests in the Baker era, Baker is 3-0 versus Burrow, and the Browns have scored 113 points against the Bungle defense in those games, including a 41-16 bashing last month. I'm pretty sure you didn't miss that one.

How do you get gift wrapped the job that is already yours?

He's on year five of his staerting QB contract next year, you can hope and pray he fails, but I think you're going to be highly disappointed.

    z

When/if Baker heals up some, he should play better, but will healing correct his inability to find the open man? I doubt it. Baker is who he is: a sparky, fired up player who uses criticism as fuel. But, this is the NFL; that alone only gets you so far. If you can't develop the skill to see the whole field and find the open man, you will not become a good or great QB. You just won't ever get there. And when it comes down to crunch time, Baker has proven he will go bust and F up. How many times have we seen it? How many do we need to?

They had 9 guys stacked on the LOS and Hankins got penetration and blew the play up. At least come out in some kind of formation were passing the ball is a threat or spread them out to get them of the LOS. That play had no chance. Run your best 2pt conversion play or something,  ANYTHING.

I think I counted 5 Raiders behind the LOS within a second of the snap of that play, with all 5 defenders in arms reach of Chubb. You have a point.

  6. 15 hours ago, Neo said:

Well,  it's the next day and this loss still stings. I can't believe that on the Browns last possession they couldn't pull out one of their best plays to gain enough for a first down. I understand the regular coach wasn't there but c'mon!!

There has to be a play somewhere in that play book that can get you a guaranteed three yards on 3rd&3.

I don't know: On one hand you say, "Our bread and butter is our OL and Chubb, so go with that when all the chips are on the table." On the other, you say, "Don't run such an obvious play when it matters most." If they would have tried a play action pass that fell incomplete, we'd be bitching they didn't go with their bread and butter when it mattered most. <shrugs shoulders>

  7. Yes, it's possible Browns lose this and then win out to make payoffs, or they could win and then lose too many following and still miss the postseason. But in all likelihood, this game vs. the Ravens is the make or break game of the season so far. And with the extra week off to heal up the players, including Baker, this could be the perfect time to beat the Ravens. They were right in the last game vs. this team.

That being said, the Steelers did the Browns no favor when beating Baltimore last week. Lamar and company are going to be focused and motivated coming off that loss.

So let's see it Baker: show the world what you're really all about.

I mostly agree with the video, especially about the part where Baker should be paid around $30 mill per year, a sum that would pay him more than any other team would, yet not wreck the Brown's ability to keep/add more talent. Baker's wife said that he changed the entire culture of the team; if he even partly did, he deserves a new deal. The one difference between he and Brees is, Drew was never as cocky as Baker; I'll leave that to others on whether that is a good thing or not.

    He has a torn labrum.

That isn't getting better without surgery. No amount of rest is helping it.

Ah, but rest could help heal his bum knee, groin, heel and whatever else is hurting. He is obviously more beat up than just the shoulder.

Actually according to the NFL playoff calculator the BROWNS' have a 25% chance of making the playoffs and 8% chance of winning the division.

BUT they better win the next game to start.

First of all, I never said "reaching the playoffs," I said "beating a playoff team" if they did make it. I still maintain it's unlikely they would beat a team in the playoffs, if they should make it. They certainly wouldn't beat two playoff teams.

One striking omission is the state of the game that Baker is playing compared to Roger's over the same span of years (1st 4): Good QBs put up much better #'s than Baker here and now, including Rogers. Baker is hovering around 22nd - 26th in all major passing stats in the here and now. That is who he is. Comparing his stats to Roger's 1st four years is poppycock. Baker is ringing in at about 25th in today's conditions You want him paid like a top 5 QB?

  13. They've beat a total of one team with a winning record. And they barely squeaked by a Lions team with their back up QB (and he was as bad as any QB I've seen play in the NFL, perhaps ever).

    KC - lost

    Texans - losing team, horrid.

    Bears - losing

    MIN - losing

    LAC - loss

    AZ - loss, blow out

    Denver - losing

    Pitt - LOSS

Cinci - only win vs. a winning team, and they have folded since, losing almost every game

    Pats - ass whooping

Lions - winless with back up QB

Just who, on earth, do you expect them to beat if they make the playoffs? And right now, their last 6 games are vs. teams with winning records, by the way.

How about everyone wait and see what Baker demands instead of presuming? So much tar and feathering of a dude that has shown nothing but loyalty to the Cleveland Browns throughout his entire career, and is playing hurt this year along with the vast majority of his play makers.... and some of them are not even playing at all.

Is Baker worth top 5 QB money? I don't think so, but until we get to the point in time that it is finally reported that he is asking for that, let's just focus on 95's side of the ball and exactly when is he going to take over just 1 game and single handily win it all by himself like Reggie White and Derrick Thomas did... multiple times.

^ There, that should trigger some of you who worship to the Church of 95.

Reading the tea leaves.....didn't his wife come out and say he is under-appreciated for turning the entire team's culture around??????????? Wives know what their hubby's are feeling. If he feels responsible for turning around this team from an 0-16 team to what they are (a .500 team to possibly a play off team) then he will feel he's as valuable as any QB in the NFL, and IF he is the main person responsible for that transformation then???? Is he?

  15. 19 hours ago, Dutch Oven said:

I wonder if we might see a scenario where the Browns do offer Baker a contract extension, but for less money or less years than he's expecting - and he walks.

The front office can't fear that, or they mortgage the team's future. They need to stick to their guns and offer something fair, but not cross the line.

    I hear you D.

It seems like just last month we were 0-16 and the laughing stock of the league.

Mayfield may not be the QB to take us to the SB, but at least we aren’t going through the endless carousel of drafting the next college QB to lead us through another abysmal season.

Fine, but that wasn't the assertion: the concept that Baker doesn't deserve top QB $ was. If he thinks his play is deserving of Mahomes, Dak or Rogers' $, he's been hit in the head too much. He'd be lucky to make Tannehill $.

Baker is a terrific qb. But he isn't perfect. I keep seeing in the media that "Baker this, Baker that" etc.

But it seems that "great qb's" have terrific receivers. What was it they showed and analyzed during the Patriot game?

5 guys out to catch a pass and not one got open at all? What is a torn labrum, broken bone in shoulder, hurt foot qb

    SUPPOSED TO DO?

If lamar couldn't run like a crazed chipmunk, he would be one of the worst qbs in the league.

    Let's put it this way:

Since 1999, the Browns have drafted a wr TWICE in the first round. Stupid braylon edwards in 05, and Corey Coleman in 2016.

Not choices I would have made.

even the Patriots drafted  N'Keal Harry first round in 2019. again, the Browns in previous years drafted duds.

Not any more, but wr is a weak point. I would like to see what Cager and Bradley can do. They were both UDFAs......

Brady regularly won SUPER BOWLS (NOT JUST PLAY OFF GAMES) with ho hum WRs. He won rings with a aged Troy Brown, Burt Emanuel, Curtis Jackson, David Patten, Deion Branch, David Givens, Edelman, Hogan, Amendola, and had Moss for one great year (but didn't win the SB). Those guys mostly went on to do nothing on other teams. Big Ben mostly turned lemons into lemonade in his prime. He made Ward (a small, slow WR) into a Hall of Famer, won a ring with Randel El and Quincy Morgan (outcast of the Browns), Santanio Holmes (did nothing on other teams). Made Mike Wallace a star, who didn't do much without him.

Baker will have no success stories like Brady and Ben, because he isn't special like them. If you are going to be paid like a top 5 QB, you better play like one, period.
