  1. How did we get the wrong one if the other guy wasn't available for the draft?
  2. You can run either one of them. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
  3. I agree. We are going to hire Berry and it is almost full circle. Maybe Berry hires Sashi as a executive assistant...LOL...that will blow up some heads. Would be fun to watch. I like the hire. Too many blowhards who don't know squat seem to have all the answers...lol
  4. Not sure Shurmur would take the gig, not sure Haslam would go with it. That said, Shurmur is a good coordinator. The Pete Principle says people reach they level of incompetence. I'd take Romeo as defensive coordinator....Pettine as well.
  5. You don't owe me anything. Just keep up with the good posts.
  6. Or McDaniels texted his buddy as he was getting on the plane to take the job because it was a no go in Cleveland.
  7. Sorry, teams can block assistant coaches from interviewing for a coordinator job if they are under contract. There are two types of coaches in the NFL. Head coaches, and assistant. It's been this way for maybe 5 years now. shares By Dan Duggan | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com The Giants waited patiently for Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski to interview for Minnesota's offensive coordinator job. When the Vikings hired Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo as offensive coordinator on Friday, the path appeared to be clear for Stefanski to come to the Giants as Pat Shurmur's OC. But the Vikings denied the Giants permission to interview and hire Stefanski, who is under contract for the 2018 season. If you think it's unfair that a team can block a position coach from landing a promotion elsewhere - especially after denying him an internal promotion - you're not alone. But the Vikings were completely within their rights to deny Stefanski the opportunity to pursue career advancement. The NFL groups coaches into two categories: Head coaches and assistant coaches. Teams can't prevent an assistant from interviewing for head coaching vacancies. But all assistant coaching jobs are on equal footing, so going from, say, assistant offensive line coach to offensive coordinator is considered a lateral move by the NFL. That's obviously silly. The rule seems to be based on a concern that teams could come up with phony promotions, such as "associate head coach" or other nominal titles to poach position coaches from other teams. The simple fix would be to add a distinction between position coaches and coordinators. Teams would have to designate three coordinators - offense, defense, special teams - so a "co-coordinator" title couldn't be used to present a promotion. The other more complicated rule change the NFL needs to consider is the hiring process for head coaches in the wake of Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels leaving the Colts at the altar. Prospective coaches can back out of deals at any time, but McDaniels' change of heart seems tied to the awkward process where assistants on playoff teams can interview - but not officially accept - head coaching jobs during the postseason. The whole process is rife with distractions and variables. Assistants for teams with first-round byes can interview during their bye week, while assistants on teams without byes must wait until after Wild-Card weekend to interview. Second interviews can't take place until after the conference championships for assistants of Super Bowl teams. McDaniels interviewed twice with the Colts during the Patriots' run to the Super Bowl, and both sides agreed that he would be the team's head coach. But nothing could be signed while the Patriots were playing, so they were left in a holding pattern. McDaniels agreed to become the Colts' head coach two days after the Super Bowl, but he had immediate second thoughts and decided to stay in New England. The Colts were left to scramble for a coach through the second tier of candidates because the top options were hired between the end of the regular season and the Super Bowl. The Colts hired Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich on Sunday. The process is entirely too complicated and there is one simple fix: Don't allow any head coaching interviews to take place until after the Super Bowl. This would level the playing field and allow assistants on playoff teams to maintain their primary focus. Nothing would be lost by delaying the hiring process by a month, especially because every team would be operating under the same rules. And it would prevent situations like the one with the Colts and McDaniels where the sides entered into a wink-nod agreement that wasn't binding for either side.
  8. All coaching moves are considered lateral except if going to head coach.
  9. Still old school on this. You address needs in FA. At least early in the draft you go BPA unless it makes no sense at all. We may not want to draft a QB as an example, but then again, Baker didn't play all that well. No doubt he got a bit chubby and possibly his head got fat.
  10. 1. Schwartz or Stephanski 2. FA...OL,LB Draft...still BPA in round 1 and 2 3. LSU 4. No 5. Jennings 6. I haven't been to a movie in maybe 5 years. No opinion....to edit based on your answer about any movie source, I re-watched The Cowboys with John Wayne a few months ago. That is a good one. I also caught the last half of Top Gun while flipping through the channels. Another good one.
  11. I don't mind orange pants, but not with the orange jersey. Brown and orange reminds me of Mike Pruitt. In the end, I don't give a darn about uni fashion.
  12. Some of the ones I list as cook doesn't mean they will for long.
  13. Come on man....you are a fan or not...pull up the boots and walk through as much mud as it takes. Don't come in here posting like you are looking for sympathy. If you are looking for that you can find it in the dictionary, it's somewhere between shit and syphilis.
  14. Look what our football guy built. Look at his hand selected coach. No way in hell he was going to be the voice hiring the next coach. I think science needs to ask Dorsey for a DNA sample. I think they might find the missing link.
  15. See ya….I didn't even read you drawn out whining.
  16. That is why I am putting them up early. I figure both of those games will sell above face to loyal fans. Loyal fans of other teams who can make the easy trip. I don't consider it apathy...at least on my part and don't think that of you. I think that of the many people I know on boards who talk Browns all day but when it comes to going to games....no, they don't go to games. Same for the many more I don't know. I no longer look to put Browns fans in my seats, I am looking for other team colors. That is who is going to buy them. My wording may have been too sharp. I don't look at it as a way to make money. That's not the intent, but I know Steeler fans will pay over face to get in the door. I am thinking the same for Indy. I may even give up the opener, there is always some degree of excitement for that one. My being a fan isn't predicated on winning.
  17. I think I may do that one as well. Haven't been to an away game for a few years since I "road trip" up to 6-7 home games a year. I plan on selling some tickets this year. I plan on selling the Steelers and Colts games. I know Steeler fans travel and figure there will be plenty of Colts fans looking for tickets. I had this thing about not wanting visiting fans sitting in my seats. Screw that, Browns fans don't buy the seats. I am putting them on the ticket exchange and make some money. I don't care who sits in them.
  18. I don't know my friend. Dorsey lost a power struggle in KC. I get the feeling Dorsey is only interested in hiring a coach he has under his thumb. I don't think he wants a coach who knows what he wants. Dorsey wants a coach who takes what he is given.
  19. He didn't have a heart attck...I believe he tore his aorta, which is worse than a heart attack.
  20. It is because of Dorsey. Freddie know Dorsey likes "his" players. Freddie has no pushback, which is what Dorsey wanted in his head coach...why do you think he hired Kitchens and not Williams? So we fire Freddie, who's next, Casper Milquetoast, the man who speaks softly and gets hit with a big stick?
  21. Screw Njoku....play Carlson. The position is fixed.
  22. I am not worried about a move...for now. The city best get on the stick and plan on a new stadium. Ours is always ranked as one of the worst in the league. It was pretty average the day it opened. It's going to have to have a lid on it to make it work from a financial standpoint. It can't exclusively be used for 10 Browns games and a few summertime concerts.
  23. Probably prompted him to cheat. It's not hard to look like a defensive genius when you know the play that is going to be run. At least in baseball the hitter still has to hit the ball, which is hard in and of itself.
