  1. This. It's been my concern all along. I know Freddie is likeable, and is the basic opposite of jerk coaches, like Haley. So, everyone is comfortable with Freddie around. But sometimes being "comfortable" isn't what is needed in the NFL. Do you remember Parcells' 1st year as the Giants' head coach? (I don't "remember" it, other than from the Documentaries, etc., that's been done on him). After he realized he was probably coaching his last season if he didn't win more, he told his assistant coaches, "the players aren't going to like me, but I have to coach my way moving forward and that's just the way it has to be." He went on to win 2 rings with that team, but was not fun for the players to be around, but most of them love him now, knowing he had to crack the whip to get the results he needed. Jimmy Johnson was the same way, players say they were terrified to be around him. Hoodie, the same. Phil Simms always says, in order to prepare for football, you have to be pushed to do things you wouldn't do on your own (with some rare exceptions). Does FK do that enough? Is there a reason he was never considered for any head coaching jobs prior to this, on any level? A buddy of mine went to camp this year and told me FK was running tougher camps than any prior coach he had seen. I don't know. All I know is the product they put on the field yesterday screams of a lack of discipline. 18 penalties, sloppiness. That falls on the head coach, does it not?
  2. I've seen that same call dozens of times, even almost 20 years ago (when I believe the first started trying to protect the QB with the "in the grasp" calls). It was an early whistle, but once it is blown, you can't "re-start" the play. You can't blow the whistle and then say, "No, wait, I shouldn't have blown it, keep playing."
  3. I'm blaming Freddie for this loss; team was completely undisciplined and it showed all day, 18 flags. You can't beat a solid team like TN playing like that.
  4. Well, Henry proved to be more than dog poop after all. He dropped 159 combined yards and 2 TDs on the Brownies. Ouch.
  5. I don't think any team would be "perfect." If he couldn't keep it down to even make week 1, after scoring $30 mill in guaranteed cash (if he just shows up) then when will he ever stop being a petulant child and douchebag? When? Where?
  6. I think for TN to win, they will need some runs by Mariota and a few turnovers...possible, but I feel Browns should be favored (and are). I'm not crazy that OBJ is mentioning a pre-game excuse (hip) entering the game. He has said he doesn't feel he can "open it up" or his hip will blow up. Freddie said he is fine. We will see.
  7. Trubs is horrid. Another QB with "all the physical traits you want" but who still stinks regardless.
  8. He must be a hell of a DC; he was mentioned by name like a dozen times.
  9. It's been a long time coming, but tonight, we have NFL football that actually counts. Yes! I am a football fan, so I enjoy most games (unless it is a clunker with 2 terrible teams). Bears are favored by 3, which is right where I had it. I am slightly rooting for GB, but don't really care. I'd like to see Rogers come back to form. He is the best thrower of the football in the world. I like watching him.
  10. A 7.5? I'm leaning more towards a 9. She does bum me out when she thinks she is smarter than she is. For instance, she said she is pretty sure every NFL team owns its own jet. And she said it with conviction. I think the Pats are the only ones who do. The rest charter.
  11. Colin repeated his whole "TN +5.5 is a great bet" talk today. Said he doesn't like OL, especially the OTs. I'm not so sure the TN +5.5 is as much of an iron clad winner as he does. I could see a Browns 7 point win going down. Maybe he will end up having to cover this game in his "What Colin got wrong" segment. On a side note, do you think Joy Taylor is hot?
  12. Good points, Jiggins. I wouldn't worry about the history of open day results, that's just history. Those teams were all pretty bad, none had this talent. You have to go back to the Marty-Bernie era for a Browns team with this much juice.
  13. I think they are both good. I'm not sure one is better, just different. Henry's size and speed ratio are pretty rare: 250 lb backs aren't supposed to run sub 4.4 forties. If he shakes loose into the secondary, look out.
  14. Sorry, I don't understand the joke.
  15. That's the "old Browns," bra. Things can change: The Red Sox and Cubs won championships.
  16. I actually have some Browns' fan friends who do think week 1 is a cakewalk and in the bag. I think the only way TN is in it, with a shot to win, is if they win the turnover battle. If they get ahead, they can give a steady dose of that rushing attack.
  17. Exactly. Taking that beast head on from smaller guys (d backs) is not smart. He's 250 lbs. with sub 4.4 speed. I know, he's not as elusive as OJ, but he can be a problem. Didn't he rip off a 99 yardr? He did. But by the way, even if he goes off, I don't think it will be enough for them to win.
  18. Also, Baker doesn't need clean pocket all day, he can make defenders miss and make plays.
  19. Thanks for your feedback, Jcam. Good points.
