2021 Browns Depth Chart

Felton makes good moves to get the defender leaning into the direction that Felton will NOT be going,  and breaks in the other direction off of his misdirection plant foot.  That's how I used to get separation back in the day.  Although I would look like Felton in super slow motion.  :)

JOK- Chess Piece (we’ve had some fabulous suggestions for which chess piece.

Weaver- Lottery Ticket.  Drafted past the fourth round and coming off an injury.

Delpit- Redshirt year. Coming off Achilles and learning the Pro game at a spot where mental game reps are just as important.

Greedy- The big question mark.  Not just the injury but his play hasn’t really invoked true confidence that he can play alongside an AllPro type corner.  He’s gonna be the target on the other side too.

Here’s the good news in years past these four would not only expect to make the team but they would Have to be big producers In starting roles

Safe to say you can call JOK a WILL backer now (as expected) per Berry.

Early downs for sure, but in 2nd/3rd & longs I think we are going to see a good deal him over the TE.

I still think 6th round Felton makes the team.  (instead of Natson or Johnson)

Ya, probably, but I don't want to give up on Johnson yet, he fought hard to get where he is. If he takes the kick returner job from Natson though, I'm good with that.

I too like Johnson.  He blocks, runs and caught 3 passes in his limited action.  I remember that he had to come in for Hunt late in a game and we were trying to run the clock out.  And he was able to deliver a couple of nice runs for first downs which saved the victory.  -  Having said that, he's not real fast.  And it seems that this regime is looking for speed at all positions.  - Perhaps they'll keep 4 backs.

Ya, he's speculating on some new guys... I hope that is the case ... but I wanna see what they do in pads first.

Agreed Zombo...

39 locks, is the way i see it..  14 upgrade-able open roster spots.. Hubbard/Gusto/Elliott/Weaver/Mack Wilson pends on position competition..McDowell I'm really pulling for... Heck! we may get a late round pick for any of them/but non the less, they are upgrade-able...

Were right around 10'ish open spots that could go either way... 5 still in black(above) our the drafted rookies..

Either way..This cut won't come easy... Excellent to see ! Step 1..Cut the right Guy!

good eye on your early depth chart boss... 🏆

You see McDowell as a lock over.... Togiai?

I'm getting ready to enjoy a nice sun set, pass over that weed you're hitting.

I see McDowell finding a spot backing up Garrett or Clowney... Togiai is our DT3.... them weeds may smoke till after camp 🤓

They say he's 295 lbs..

Seahawks 'were not comfortable' allowing Malik McDowell to try to continue playing, agent says | The Seattle Times   I'd have to see him 👀.. to believe them...

Not sure how reliable the source is, but supposedly the Browns have kept in touch with Sheldon Richardson's agent.

I've heard that...and been hoping ever since his financial release.  I like him!

I believe Togiai is going to be a big surprise - Ourlads has him backing up starter Billings at RDT.

Togiai was a nice value where we picked him, but resigning Richardson at a bargain price is a no-brainer...

Plus Vernon is still out there... :D ... just sayin'...

MG - SR - AB/MJ - JC? That's a helluva DL...

Browns Roster: 5 veterans who could be pushed off roster by 2021 draft picks

5. Mack Wilson - article says he became a "fan favorite"... ... otherwise it's a good read. ;)

4. Hodge - return an OBJ, draft a Schwartz... doesn't leave much room.

3. Redwine - Safety room got crowded fast as well...

2. D'Ernest - with 90+% of the work going to two guys and a draft pick backing them up, the writing is on the proverbial wall.

1. Malcolm Smith - only real surprise name, but when JOK develops he becomes expendable... nice mid-season trade candidate for draft pick.

Maybe it's just me, but I fail to see the upside in the running back room that Felton brings over DJ?   Maybe a little more lateral agility at best, but as a pure ball carrier I'm just not seeing it.   I like DJ and genuinely believe he has a place in this league.

Also, why would Malcolm be expendable as our best "true" MIKE?   Wouldn't that be Mack and about 3 other linebackers before we even get to Malcolm's number?

Mack don’t let the door hit ya.  He seemingly has problems in two areas that are essential to an LB-  Effort and tackling. Ive got a Browns player each year that is so easy to pile on...Njoku, Callaway in the past Mack has held that label now for two seasons.  And Redwine doesn’t seem to have the instincts for the position. After that we have hard decisions.

Hodge may a number causality.  But he’s a 3/4 on most teams.

Derenst Johnson he stays.  I saw enough God given talent and ability that he’s a great depth piece. Squint hard and you see Kamara (don’t laugh)

I watch some UCLA ball usually it’s late night against some PAC12 team allegeric to playing D.  Demetric Fenton is not getting to DJs production level this year.  He’s a Great WR out of the backfield good kick return guy.  Great 7th round pick.  Nice burst.  He doesn’t have Derenst Johnson wiggle or vision between the tackles.  If we need someone to be RB1/RB2 I want it to be DJ.

Malcolm is a vet who played well in a SB on a young team with a bunch of guys that have watched the SB.  He stays too.
