Fields has missed too much time for a rookie, I would but him on IR before the season, thereby stashing him for the season and saving the roster spot.

Keep in mind that reducing the roster size isn’t just through cuts. The Browns could place a qualifying player on injured reserve, but doing that now would make that player ineligible to return at any point in 2021:o A player has to go through final cuts and make the 53, then go on IR, if you want to bring him back during the season.

This is not setting up well for stashing any players...

not only will most teams have to kick 3-5 players to IR likely at the 53 cut... but, they will want to jump in early to claim PS's & FA's at the same time to replace the IR'd..

Oh what GM fun ! ...   https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-roster-cuts-2021-deadline-rules-practice-squad/t4agmpiuyveo11wc540pj2knw

At least a roster spot is saved.. Going to be some rough end-of-roster ST decisions

We still need a 4th TE. I don't know much about the other two guys, but Imagine the coaches will be looking hard at them as both TEs and ST ... and perusing the waiver wire too.

Risers:

RB/WR Felton had a good start and I see him making the team. He will probably replace Natson, but I am waiting to see if the Browns bring in a legit 4th TE before I cut Natson, I don't see Franks being the guy there.

-DT Sheldon Day continues to impress, right now I am riding with 5 DTs and Redwine is off my roster, because he's not helping himself being banged up.

Does Davion Davis make the team?  I was listening to Stefanski presser today...you get the sense that he likes Davis.

Maybe it’s the small school connection he has with Stef.  Maybe it’s the fact he’s been on the roster for all but two weeks and makes plays.

Probably means bye Hodge and maybe Natson

DPJ makes Hodge a likely cut.   Plus sized receiver who has caught some absolute absurdity thrown his way so far.

Cutting Two Motherfuckers

I was told I needed to cut two Motherfuckers, I'd rather wait and see if we have any casualites after the Giants game, but I wll oblige:

The first one is easy: Jojo Natson. He adds nothing to the WR room and I think we have enough guys that can be good kick returners.

The second one is harder, because I haven't watched him play yet, I am just going by what you the BrownsBoard readers are reporting: Nick Harris. I had him as the heir apparent at C, but if he is gettign pushed around as reported, Dunn and Hance can back up for a year and we will reset the Center position next year. But I'll be watching tomorrow (maybe) to make my own observations.

Also, I know we are not keeping 5 DTs and only 3 TEs. I think we will bring a 4th TE in after the cuts, and if we can find away to shelve Toga Toga for a year, we will.

I'm going to stop you right there.  Last season this team kept, I believe either 6 or 7 linebackers on active roster?  I believe this year it will only be 5 max.     And after the Jags game I had pointed out that Woods had shown a couple fronts from his time in Denver that we didn't have the personnel for last season.     So, IMHO, it is incredibly possible if not outright likely we keep 5 bigs.

Fields over Lee as the 5th LB aka ST player.

Could keep McDowell also and play 4 DT's occasionally to put the most athletic DL out there.. because who doesn't play goal-line defense at midfield.

I'd love to keep Fields but he has a foot injury and hasn't seen the field, so I am assuming we are shelving him.

he meandered back onto the squad

Well, today he wasn't able to Meander off the field as he had to be carted off.  Hope he's ok.

#52, Lee showed up a few times.  And he showed toughness as he was dinged a coupe of times but was back in the game.

D'E showed well again.  Felton did fine when doing his thing...but he's an arm tackle when he's doing D'E's thing.

That little receiver guy, Davis...what are ya gonna do with him?  All he seems to do is make plays every week?  (Schwartz is hopelessly behind)

The bottom guys on the TE roster made plays today.  And what do ya do with Stanton?  Every week they throw to him and he produces.

Ya, I added LB Lee to my roster last week. I noticed he had the green dot, defensive playcaller, on his helmet today, and he's a special teams ace.

My riser this week is probably going to be DE Joe Jackson, when no less than Joe Thomas is pumping you up as a rotational DE on National Television, you are doing something right. But we are waiting for the Takk McKinley mystery to unfold.

Isn't THAT the truth!  No insider has got any clue on this guy?  Is he holed up in a log cabin somewhere?

Greedy just can't stay on the field due to injuries. Anyone think we would be better off by just cutting bait? There will be surprise cuts, and sure there is a solid CB out there that can stay healthy. It's to bad.

He’s probably the 5th best Corner on the roster.

He also was not drafted by this current front office, so....

He was having a good camp and will have a role when he gets healthy.

Ward and Newsome will start outside and Hill inside. A.J. Green has a real chance to step up as the 4th corner while Greedy is out, but I expect Greedy will grab that Job when he's healthy.

Thoughts: Defensive Line is the most fluid situation. They act like McKinley is coming back soon and will resume his position ... but we are in the dark on that one. I gotta put Joe Johnson on the roster now and the DT talent may not be great, but it is deep. I can't justify keeping Toga Toga anymore, the other guys are out there making plays, hard to sneak a 4th round pick to the practice squad, so amybe he gets "injured". Elliot was out there in garbage time, but he did make a nice snack so they are probably not going to give up on their own draft pick.

A "guy named Blake" started at center, and that may spell the end for Nick Harris.

I'm still only carrying three TEs, so something is gonna give there, but I'm not adding fan favorite Johnny Stanton yet.

The key for Stanton is how good he is on ST coverage. Anyone know? Otherwise he may get parked on PS.
