  1. They just fixed that with the new kickoff rules in the last week or so. There's going to be more returns and more injuries.
  2. In the world according to Ken and Barbie's biggest fan - I'll take this as a compliment.
  3. Thanks Vambo! This is a very good pick-up for the Browns. Here's an interesting article that tells us the type of player he is. I think we always have room for this... NY Jets lose key Pro Bowler and team captain to Browns This is a pretty big loss for the Jets By Justin Fried | Apr 2, 2024 Justin Hardee / Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports Keep Watching The NY Jets were able to retain their standout specialist duo of Thomas Morstead and Greg Zuerlein this offseason, but the team's special-teams unit will still look quite different in 2024. That's because former Pro Bowler and special-teams captain Justin Hardee officially signed with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, ending his three-year tenure with the organization. Hardee had previously hinted at an impending Jets departure on social media earlier in the offseason, which is why it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that he wasn't brought back. The 30-year-old missed time due to injury in 2023, appearing in 11 games, but his value shouldn't be understated. Hardee is one of the best special-teamers in football and a beloved team captain — he will be missed. How the NY Jets plan to replace Justin Hardee The decision to let Hardee walk likely came down to a couple of factors. The first, and most obvious, reason has to do with money. The specific details of Hardee's contract are yet to be released, but even if he signed for the veteran minimum, that's still probably more than the Jets were willing to pay. Hardee's primary replacement is expected to be Irv Charles, a former undrafted free agent who earned a spot on the team due to his special-teams prowess and helped fill in admirably while Hardee was sidelined last season. Charles is under contract for just $915,000 in 2024. The veteran minimum for a player with 7+ years of experience (which Hardee has) is $1.65 million next season. There's no scenario in which Hardee could've been signed for less than Charles. The Jets remain high on Charles' potential and were impressed by his performance last season. Charles led all Jets players with a 90.3 Pro Football Focus special-teams grade in 2023 and finished second on the team with eight special-teams tackles despite playing only 12 games. The Jets will also return fellow gunner Brandin Echols and Isaiah Oliver, who the team signed last month. Both Echols and Oliver have extensive experience as gunners, which should help mitigate the loss of Hardee. It'll be up to special teams coordinator Brant Boyer to make up for Hardee's absence in 2024, and Charles is the player they're most likely counting on. Perhaps this motivates the Jets to more aggressively attempt to re-sign Ashtyn Davis, another Boyer favorite who led the Jets in special-teams tackles last season. Either way, losing Hardee is a significant blow to the Jets' locker room and special-teams unit. Unfortunately, the NFL is a business at the end of the day, and the Jets made a business decision.
  4. One of the best all around LBers in NFL (Fred Warner of the 49er) was a 3rd round pick out of BYU. Speaking of BYU, the Rams got the steal of the 2023 draft with 5th round pick Puka Nacua (who was actually their 2nd of 2 picks in that round). I bring those guys up to remind us there will be some great prospects available when we're picking. If our scouts have done thorough research for a draft volume of only 5 guys -I think this can be a great draft for us.
  5. The path this thread took or you took? You sign up for stuff; and then you act surprised at the responses/outcomes you receive. Of course you're gonna get your balls busted about wasting 2 hours of your life watching a movie about a Barbie Doll and announcing it was great. When you go to a sports message board that caters to the major sports teams in the area/state where you allegedly live; and then break out the Fah-Q Ohio State after your out of state team finally doesn't need a Heimlich Maneuver in the big game - you get what you order here. If you wanted congrats and cyber fanny pats, my guess is alienating yourself with the Fuck You Ohio State removed any/all opportunities to get that. My best friend is a Michigan fan and I had no problem saying Congrats to him because he never used to dish out the ball busting a few decades ago when Buckeyes fans were getting John Coopered. He never did that. What I'm getting at here is golden rule. You're never gonna re-wire where someone comes from and/or what they've grown up passionate about. You have 2 choices - respect that or challenge it like you do frequently. All that said, we're on a message and busting chops is fun. When I was a kid, I had a GI Joe or 2 or 3. When you were a kid, you had a Barbie doll and a Ken. And that's okay. Hang in there man...
  6. To answer my question in the topic heading? Just like poor Poindexter had to hear after paying for the limo, dinner and drinks on prom night, "No means no!" This video below is about 2-3 weeks old already. Former Buckeye T-Powell has has an interesting way of explaining LBers that own the hook zones in coverage that are also capable of tapping gray area a little beyond. As funny as it may be try not to get too distracted by his choice of words so that you can get what he wants the audience to understand. The reason I went out and got his for us - is because our LBers that were supposed to complement what JOK was doing (blitzing passers) - became liabilities in space. You say they looked spaced out because they were. We signed 2 guys. Edit: 1 is coming over from Minnesota (Jordan Hicks); but he's 31 and missed games to injury in December. He played for Philly's Super Bowl team before that. Good talent and veteran leadership; but Anthony Walker came here with that - and we just couldn't ever get him on the field. LB depth has been an issue here in recent years. Meanwhile Devin Bush didn't get a lot of playing time in Seattle last year. That said, I can think of a lot of very good LBers that wouldn't start over Bobby Wagner; while their other ILB Jordyn Brooks is a 1st round draft pick that's played well for Seattle when healthy. Once upon a time Devin Bush was a promising young LBer Pittsburgh drafted in round 1. An injury early on changed everything. We've answered the depth need. Has that answered our LBer in coverage concerns though? I don't believe it has but I could certainly be wrong with that.... Would a guy like Payton Wilson, Trevin Wallace, Junior Colson, Jeremiah Trotter, Cedric Gray or anyone else you could think of offer us a solution in this draft?
  7. 😆 Can you imagine Keith Jackson with the commentary back in the day? "OOOOOOH by golly, Tackle made by 340 pounds of Free Space that's been stretching 2 counties wide all day long. That young fella is really showing teammates how to bring the sting; and he's been a gang tackle all by himself."
  8. Who's gonna be the 1st sick bastard to wear a decimal between the numbers? Someone like Siaki Ika has probably powered down enough pie in his life to start wearing and stretching it across the belly. That, or our Double Wide from the Crimson Tide (Dalvin Tomlinson) would look pretty freakin tight wearing 3.14.
  9. Same here - thanks!
  10. Some people just love them some white pocket passer types whether it's a Lady Hawkeyes point guard/shooting guard or a cement shoe'd NFL QB.
  11. Thanks for setting that up and watching that with me T! I wish I could say Jaylan Ford gave us something exciting to watch. I overrated the crap out of him from things I read in 2 Draft Magazines . Having said that, Lindy's Magazine has him as a 4th-5th round projection which seems more accurate than Athlon's 3rd round projection. The stats looked good in the mag but we watched the matchup of their win against Alabama; and he didn't live up to what I was expecting at all. Then we watched some of the matchup of their loss against Oklahoma and it was more of the same. I really WANTED to see guy that was good against the pass because we really need a MLB/ILB that can do that while JOK does his thing at OLB. Cedric Gray, Payton Wilson and Jeremiah Trotter are higher rated ILBers in Lindy's. They also have Colson listed as an OLB but could play inside. The concerns about Wilson are 2 ACL injuries: 1 from 2017 (high school) and tore it again in June of 2018. He's also had both shoulders injured and surgically repaired in college. All that being the case before the 2023 season, guess what he did in only 12 games in 2023? He had 138 tackles, 17.5 Tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 10 QB hits, 3 INTs, 6 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries. Then he lit it up at the combines in his 6-4 238lbs frame. It'll be interesting to see who is left when we're drafting. Yeah, we signed 2 LBers but one is from the Philly defense had considerable trouble defending short passes in the hook zones. The other LBer (Bush) had a major injury in Pittsburgh that he never really recovered well enough from to live up to their expectation. LBer is still a need IMO. I think we're looking at drafting these needs in random order: WR, OL, LB, DL, CB. While Safety isn't a pressing need - we've seen Ed Reed, Pollyneedsahaircut and now Kyle Hamilton reminding us how that position can be a game changer if you have the right guy back there. And we all know Denzel usually misses games to injury, which could get complicated in a hurry if we lose anyone else. Going to an all you can eat buffet on a diet (only 5 draft picks) can be a big tease...
  12. I didn't mind it. Here's what it looked like. https://vintagecardprices.com/name-search/Greg-Pruitt/football-cards
  13. To be honest, I used to work with a guy in Nashville that also played on our coed softball team. Great guy! One day we had had a dress down Friday jersey day; and he wore a Rams Kurt Warner Rams jersey. So I said what's up with that? He said, "it's simple - he's gorgeous. I hope that doesn't make you uncomfortable." Even though it caught me off guard for a split second - "I told him a good person is a good person; and a good friend is a good friend. You're both!" I never wasted time explaining I was raised old school where this was considered different and wrong all the way into Catholic/Christian beliefs. On the other hand, we're not supposed to judge others. What? We judge others? We only do that with Woody; because he makes it fun to bust his chops. Before that, my cousin that went to war (3 tours) for this country hated anyone that was gay all the way up until his younger sister dropped the bomb and gave her family the news. He was always a very protective older brother to her (and he always acted like one to me and my brother). The good news is despite the surprise he never stopped being a protective older brother. She had more turbulence with her mom; and he was the one that helped them restore their relationship. Today, he has a terminal brain cancer and the person who has helped him the most since his diagnosis and drastic life change is his sister's spouse (also gay obviously). Funny how life can throw us these kind of curve balls when societal trends had us well trained to hate something we are/were never willing to see the bigger picture with until a friend or family member catches us off guard. Before my cousin came out, her and her older brother set me up on a blind date I wasn't aware of until I had extra hot chicken wing sauce on my face and fingers on 10 cents-a-wing and quarter drafts night. All of a sudden, my cousin Billy breaks out the "hey cuddin try not to get too rat faced because my sister is bringing a friend from work (that she also plays softball with) that she really wants you meet." That person is now my wife and we just had our 30th Anniversary in February. This night took place about 5-10 years before she let her family and friends know what her sexual preference is. It never changed who she is or how we feel about her. Not only that, she dated guys in her class that played football and other sports so she tried to resist how her sexual preferences were wired. I don't think this is something that can be changed no matter how little support/mercy society gives others in her shoes. If this was something easy to change - my guess is there would be a lot less suicides and hate crimes over it in this country.
  14. What's the over/under on how many times Woody had to change his underwear watching Ken in that movie?
  15. 🤣 God bless ya! Was Barbie or Ken your cheerleading coach at Michigan?
  16. I'll tell you why. He's got way too many Ohio State fans and their recent 17-5 record against his team living in his brain rent-free like squatters. As always, he has the right to remain silent...
  17. I'm pretty certain he doesn't outrush Josh Allen or ever even come close to it. Let's not pretend he's Michael Vick or Lamar Jackson either. Watson ran a 4.66 forty while Drew Lock ran a 4.69 if we want to put it in perspective. I'd like to see if we can figure out how to use him the way Houston did. Here's his passing and rushing stats that split during the cut and paste; but you can still see the 1st 4 years were Houston and the last 2 were Cleveland SEASON TEAM 2017 HOU 2018 HOU 2019 HOU 2020 HOU 2022 CLE 2023 CLE Career GP CMP ATT CMP% YDS AVG TD INT LNG SACK RTG QBR 7 126 204 61.8 1,699 8.3 19 8 72 19 103.0 83.7 16 345 505 68.3 4,165 8.2 26 9 73 62 103.1 61.8 15 333 495 67.3 3,852 7.8 26 12 54 44 98.0 70.5 16 382 544 70.2 4,823 8.9 33 7 77 49 112.4 63.7 6 99 170 58.2 1,102 6.5 7 5 46 20 79.1 40.4 6 105 171 61.4 1,115 6.5 7 4 59 17 84.3 42.9 66 1390 2089 66.5 16,756 8.0 118 45 77 211 100.8 - Rushing SEASON TEAM 2017 HOU 2018 HOU 2019 HOU 2020 HOU 2022 CLE 2023 CLE Career GP CAR YDS AVG TD LNG FD FUM LST 7 36 269 7.5 2 49 14 1 0 16 99 551 5.6 5 34 33 3 1 15 82 413 5.0 7 30 29 6 1 16 90 444 4.9 3 16 31 4 1 6 36 175 4.9 1 21 10 1 0 6 26 142 5.5 1 16 10 2 1 66 369 1,994 5.4 19 49 127 17 4
  18. Ohio State was ready for his legs. What they weren't ready for was his passing precision. His pose after every back breaking throw was the bow and arrow representing the bulls eye he just hit. Same with Alabama. What did Ohio State and Alabama have in common? A multiplicity of 1st and 2nd round drafts on their defense.
  19. That's it - my coping mechanisms are fired!
  20. Here's the latest NFL body by Lasik from Crablegs: 2023 53.2% comp 264 yards 2 TD passes 3 INT 57.4 rating 2022 63.5% comp 868 yards 4 TD passes 5 INT 79.5 rating We could be re-defining the question - Feeling crabby?
  21. Slight stretch here; but are any of Kurt Warner's 20 kids or so ready yet? Believe it or not, I was often reminded Dan Marino was very difficult to sack (and the quick release was only part of it). Brady wasn't easy to sack either. Bernie wasn't as easy to sack as he looked either. It's amazing what the combination of brain cells and vision can do for a QB. Today, I'm thinking Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford are what's left representing old school pocket. I say that; but EVERY time Stafford seems to play Cleveland he pulls out this 3 times in a career Lamar Jacksonesque "you ain't sacking this." It seemed like it was only exclusive to Cleveland.
  22. That's why we need a LT to prevent the joystick QB. The more that habit is repeated the tougher it is to tame. I wish someone would have drilled Elway all those times he left the pocket before any of those 3 Conference Championship games against the Browns.
