Huh?

Hopefully you mistyped the quote.

WSS

Yeah I fucked that up haha

Basically she was talking about BLM, said that she has had to deal with some people treating her like her life matters less, and then said that we can all agree that unfortunately there are people that still think black lives matter less.

The joke was those people are in the crowd she's speaking to.... jokingly

"courageous" decision to "set aside" his business (it isn't going anywhere) to "run for elected office" (the presidency).

The rhetoric that Trump sacrificed everything to be a public servant is really played out. Also ripping on Obama and Clinton for being wealthy and not understanding the common man, then turning around and talking up Trump.

Trump is a 70 year old billionaire - he could retire and play golf and Viagra up for all the hot young models he wants and him and his family would be fine forever.

If he has an 8 year presidency he'll be 78 - basically dead wasting 8 years he could be banging models and playing golf.

I'd say he's given a bit up in order to run for president

Really good night until my Senator dropped a deuce in the punch bowl... Teddy ain't the most disliked man on Capitol Hill for nothing... and now he is expanding his territory. How the hell did he get on the stage?

Eric outdid his older bro in delivery... easily the best Trump speech tonite... maybe this year. But I have a fin that says Ivanka outshines him.

Pence was a better speaker than I ever knew him to be. Content? Going to send fact checkers scrambling...

I wonder how Indiana employment can be better than ever under the yoke of federal oppression?

How do you take credit for expanding Medicaid under the umbrella of Obamacare and then curse the umbrella?

If there is a secret source of road funds only Indiana knows of?

I think he meant that the term "hildebeest" is clever not the Beast herself.

Thanks, bro... Is there a chance that if I type slower numbnuts can keep up?

He is a good politician though, he's very good at talking around everything without making a point about anything.

Very good... and with such earnestness in his face... that or constipation...

Who are you trying to kid? Slick Willie has nothing on The Donald.

I was not a Trump supporter until now. I wanted to see Cruz get the nomination and if not him Rubio, Huckabee,Christie, Paul, are some I would have rather seen get the nomination over Trump. Trump won though and in November we will elect either Trump or Clinton and I am taking Trump in a heartbeat easily over Hildebeast. We know exactly what we will get with Clinton, another third term for Obama and a corrupt lying politician. There is a hope with Trump he will actually do what is best for the country and not be beholden to special interest groups who control most of our politicians today.

After tonight- the only reason you'd want Hillary to win is if you effectively want an Obama third term. Expansion of Obamacare, and a raft of liberal Federal & Supreme Court justices. More international policy disasters. She gets elected, and the Republicans keep control of Congress- it's another 4 years of stalemate. Trump can promise anything- but I'm sure we're both old enough to realize- once you get elected- it isn't that easy.

The Republican nominee has been pro LGBT as long as he's been in the public spotlight--

Yup- Trump has always been sort of liberal on social issues.

Newt is slaying it

Agreed.

It just got reinforced to my mind tonight- and I wasn't paying that much attention in the primaries- I really really don't like Cruz much. If he's thinking 2020, better forget it.

Decided I like Pence quite a bit. More dynamic than Kasich, and has a sense of humor to boot. But he's not running for president.

I disagree with how Cruz handled this tonight. I don't have a problem with him not endorsing Trump after Trump claiming Cruz's father was involved in the assassination of JFK and making fun of his wife's appearance among other things. Trump ran a scorched earth primary and doled out lots of personal attacks in winning the GOP primary. Trump had already said he would not honor the pledge to support the eventual nominee so I see no problem with Cruz not honoring it either.

However I would have rather seen Cruz do what Bush, Kasich and some others have done who will not endorse Trump and just not go to the convention. The convention is a dog and pony show to coronate the winner. I was hoping Cruz would take the position of Scott Walker who was also against Trump but put that aside and spoke at the convention in support of Trump over Clinton. Bad move by Cruz as this looks like sour grapes on his part.

Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn't honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!

===========================================================================================

This combined with reports that the floor whips (folks in the neon baseball caps) urged the NY delegation to begin booing as soon as Cruz uttered the words, "Vote your conscience," makes me think Trump's campaign may have set Cruz up. A final, big FU to possibly end "Lyin' Ted's" political career or at least any future Presidential aspirations. Seems like an odd way to woo Cruz supporters, but just may peel away many.

Undoubtedly this is going to dominate Thursday's news cycle. Question is will it be worth the cost of stealing the thunder of his VP's big night?

Interesting...

That booing works both ways in hurting both Trump and Cruz. In a convention where unity was a theme that needed to be driven home I think it was a huge mistake on Trump campaign to orchestrate booing as it just made a small story into a big one. Another way this hurt the Trump campaign was with Mike Pence's speech:

This is What Ted Cruz REALLY Proved Last Night

"Pence is the party's Vice Presidential nominee. The success of his speech is a big deal to the success of the party's ticket in November. It's important for Pence's speech to make a big splash and a big impression on the population. Much, much more important than whether or not Ted Cruz endorsed him or not.

And yet, if you check social media and in the news, the Trump supporters might as well have not even seen Mike Pence's speech. None of them are talking about it. None of them are the slightest bit interested in what Pence brings to the ticket or his vision for America. On the other hand, they are hopping mad and incessantly bitching about Ted Cruz not endorsing Trump - in spite of the fact that the first words out of Cruz's mouth were congratulating Donald Trump for his victory, and in spite of the fact that he did not say a single negative word about Trump, and additionally in spite of the fact that he encouraged people not to stay home in November.

In fact, in response to the news that Cruz was going to make a speech that did not explicitly endorse him, Trump intentionally chose to escalate the situation by leaking the news to friendly delegations and instructing them to boo Cruz to make this a bigger deal that it otherwise would have been. If Trump's delegates had not booed and caused a ruckus, but instead had remained silent or applauded at Cruz's exhortation to vote for down ticket races, everyone today would be talking about Pence and his speech, and the discussion would be about positive things associated with Trump and Pence and how they are going to move forward after the convention to at least possible victory."

I thought it was a surprisingly poor speech and you could tell the guy was seething listening to the audience give him shit.

At first I took his imploring the audience tonight stay home as a semi endorsement then I figured he wanted them to actually go out and write him in or vote for somebody else.

Seems to me like a bad move for a guy that wants to solidify his position in the party. I don't imagine he'll be a big part in 4 years.

I agree WSS. Cruz walked into a standing ovation at the convention and could have given his endorsement to Trump and walked out to a standing ovation and put himself in good position for a future run for president. It was a bad move.

I do kind of feel sorry for the guy because first and foremost it's the fact that he's funny-looking that keeps him from being a viable candidate. He's not stupid and he can speak well if he has the proper subject matter. As opposed to Governor Rick Perry who doesn't seem all that great though he probably is.

W made the kind of dumb guy routine work for him somehow.

There's nothing more inconvenient to career politicians like Cruz as the will of those pesky voters.

Cruz isn't a career politician he is a first term senator.

A first term senator in Congress, but except for a brief period from like 2008-2013, he's held various state and local political positions since at least 1999.

I don't feel sorry for Cruz because he should have endorsed Trump. The alternative is Hildebeast. I give credit to Scott Walker who was no fan of Trump's in the primaries but still endorsed Trump last night because the alternative is Clinton. You never know about politics in that Nixon at one time seemed down and out then made a comeback to win the presidency but I think Cruz ruined any future run for president by not endorsing Trump. I have hard feelings at Romney, Bush and Kasich as well for not supporting the republican nominee who won with a record amount of votes. Certainly Trump is better than Clinton.
