How can anyone want JM within three states of a fresh, #2 overall QB?

I would like to see him in Pit, Cincy, or Baltimore (as a player). Those are all within 3 states.

The reality is Manziel is gone no matter what. I don't think the analytics say very good things about an alcoholic midget quarterback who can't throw a football - then again, the football people don't say good things about an alcoholic midget quarterback who can't throw a football either.

If we draft Goff, it will assuredly be Goff, McCown, Davis/Shaw as QB1, QB2, and QB3. Anybody aside from Goff it may be McCown as QB1 to open up 2016

Don't think so with Goff. I think he's at the level where he'd be effective from day 1 - and using the #2 on him probably makes it more likely. New coach would probably wanna accelerate his development as fast as possible, since he only has 1-2 years to start winning :P

Let's look at the details....JF tells Pettine and the media " Don't worry about me, I'm not going to do anything to embarrass the organization"...pictures / videos circulate of him partying when he should have been preparing to be the starting qb. JF denies it and says they are old pics / vids....he is found to be lying and demoted to 3rd string. Next, he comes to practice drunk, and we are told he has a concussion, so he goes to Vegas in disguise. If I were trying to get out of Cleveland, and decided to this, I would admit to it....not lie about it. If he wants out, why not go to Haslam and say "I want out" ? Who in their right mind would be interested in him after all this weird immature crap? Jerry Jones, I guess. What do Drew Brees, Paul Warfield and Gary Barnidge have to do with it? I certainly can't come up with any similar qualities in JF. Maybe you can...if so, let's get back to the discussion about the aliens.

put anyone under a microscope and you will find something if you look hard enough. we only know what we hear from the outside looking in, which isn't necessarily reality. it may be one of those times to prescribe to what E.A. Poe once said, "believe only half of what you see and nothing that you hear".

Johnny didn't seem to harbor any resentment toward Coach Pettine by all accounts i read for getting benched as if he felt it deserving, and actually stuck up for him in the press. he wanted continuity and to not have to learn a new playbook. not condoning his behavior at all, but it's very possible he had a legit concussion and when he heard Haslam was cleaning house he may have just said "fuck it, i'm no good to the team during this concussion protocol so i'm gonna do me".

for all we know Coach Pet could have even been made aware by JmfM himself and said "whatever Johnny, I can't stop you. but, if you do go do ur thing in Vegas just keep a low profile and ideally try not to even be recognized". who knows. besides his agent. very likely his agent has been aware of everything all along and involved at least from an awareness perspective since the very beginning.

you may say you would do this or that, but until you are them and in their exact position and being advised by your agent you don't know what you would do. think about it, if you were attempting to get cut or traded would you tell your boss and the journalists, or just your prospective employers? very hard to say w zero frame of reference or personal experience.

the similarities between those guys is if everyone gave up on them after their rookie years we would look at them quite differently.

johnny just turned 23 a month ago. if Jerry Jones believes tolerating some immature and distracting behavior from a talented kid who wins games is a worthwhile tradeoff, maybe we could learn something from him. they already drafted him. they already paid him. he already became what they feared. there was already fallout. it's possible to minimize his antics. he still has value. so why reward his bad behavior and dump him before there is a payoff??

to part ways now would benefit everyone except the Browns and their fans...from Johnny and his fans to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys or whoever. the damage is done. talented and successful leadership could and would manage the situation, not give up on it prematurely.

to stop now is like trying a new route up Everest but quitting 1,000' from the top. the route may not ever lead you to the peak, but after investing so much into the climb, you certainly don't quit until you know for sure.

Watching Goff the things that impress me are his pocket awareness and touch on passes. It seems like he almost glides away from rushers - certainly not shedding tacklers like Big Ben. And it seems like he puts the right touch on every throw, not missing the easy ones to the RB in space for example, but still finding the receiver coming across the middle with mustard.

Yep...there's very little to not like. Operating from the pocket just looks so natural to him, with eyes always downfield and scanning, he physically always moves his body when scanning similar to how an Aaron Rodgers does. And he's deadly accurate short/medium/deep range, and tends to make the right reads. Most of the interceptions seem like they just come from trying to force in too tight a window (too much confidence) or tipped pass.

He has a set of qualities that most QBs just can't learn and have to either overcome in other ways, become a backup, or retire early.

0% chance of that happening. .....he Texans fired a QB that started for them this year because he was late multiple times.

Right....took them very little time to tell Mallet to go f&*k himself....

Browns could've learned a little from that cut.....and so ironic they are winning with the guys we dumped, while we lose with the guy we refuse to dump....

Something weird about this Vegas thing with Manziel. Why has no photo's or vidios showed up ? All the people in the casino and at the blackjack table din't take a picture ? And no pictures at the nightclub ? Your gonna tell me T,M,Z AND bUSTED COVERAGE CAN'T COME UP WITH A PICTURE OR A VIDEO ? Will Burge of espn who broke this story i quote " we will post a ptcture proving this is real " Well were still waiting. Why has no ne at the airport or on the plane come forth ? I'm not saying this didn't happeh but alot of times news reporters take these stories and run with it without the facts.

I'm disappointed that despite such a bad year we don't even get to own the #1 pick. We could have sold it off for a fortune. I guess #2 and #32 won't be too bad either. Gotta get the right guys. I'll start to scout soon.

Remember:

#1 WR- Josh Gordon

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu

Terrel Pryor

Travis Benjamin

Joe Haden

Gary Barnidge

We'll have a good nucleus, just gotta add a few touches here and there.

I hope we get Gruden. He should be on the phone with Haslam tonight. That Monday Night game a couple weeks back, he seemed all about it. Let's see if Gruden chickens out or will step up and be the man.

I would be surprised if Gruden, even if he would have considered the job before, would want to take orders on players from Uniblab.

We should contact George Jetson.

Agree... would also not be surprised to see an announced intention to start McC ala JAX and Bortles. But when ready McC sits...

Even tho that approach clearly ruined JM... B)

LOL! To those who just want to hack & cut, move to Cut & Shoot Texas (Home of Roy Harris, once beaten in the 50's by reigning heavyweight champ Floyd Patterson in the 13 round).

You have to be unemotional when it comes to a business decision and JM's future most definitely is a business decision for the Browns. What is the cost of cutting if he is picked up by another team vs. what is the cost of trading? Does the new coach want to retain him? The new analytics guys can work with the new coach and new GM to figure out exactly what to do about Billy. Hopefully this time Jimmy stays completely out of the decision making on ALL players, including JM.

or he could wreck the fucking league. no one can predict the future.

unlike [scrubs] like Frye, Anderson, Quinn, Weeden...even McCown whom i really like, Johnny Manziel is a household name. his numbers in only year two were very close to McCown's numbers, numbers we were very satisfied with. and Johnny won more games. he may be polarizing but at least he's not violent like Ray Rice or Suh, isn't getting DUI's like *fill in the blank* or gang related like Ray Lewis or hitting people w his car like Stallworth who murderered someone. he's not really even a diva. if you want Michael Jackson or Ozzy or Terrell Owens or Rex Ryan something comes with that. why aren't we even discussing Gilbert's utter refusal to take the field?? what has he earned?? he's shown less than Manziel, that's for sure. and if Johnny were never drafted by the Browns, all this focus would be on him.

honestly, who's the worse teammate, Gilbert: who is such a pariah they stopped even asking him to participate in community activities, or Manziel: who as i said may be polarizing but still puts asses in seats and keeps everyone talking about us for better or for worse. for every person that hates Johnny there are ten more who adore him. show me one brownsboarder that joined here because of Justin fucking Gilbert, or Mingo, Shelton, Erving, etc etc...

Manziel has a brand and a fan base of his own. somebody call me when he actually does something bad.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, PLEASE let this happen... This is just a warm up act for what the Billy Manziel act could produce in Dallas :D

With full time access to his woman... his posse... oh, the heights to which he could soar.

I assume players are not allowed to talk to other teams while they are under contract.

So is the behavior a result of his perceived vote of no confidence by the team administration or systemic within himself? The answer to that riddle will tell the story of whether he successful or not. There is always the chance the new staff here will see him as the quarterback of the future and his attitude may change.

Or not.

"Or not" times two...

One thought about the Vegas trip; I'm sure he smelled the smoke about his guy ray farmer Daddy Mike Pettine about to be shown the door.

Fixed!
