How come they call for a cease fire over innocent civilians being killed in Gaza and yet when Palestinian rioters go after innocent Jews living in America, it's accepted?? These people should have been tear gassed, dispersed and the one with the bullhorn should be arrested and charged for inciting.

Houthi military has more or less shut down transit of goods in the Red Sea. Very informative threads from Sal Mercogliano. Recommend clicking on both and reading them.

tl;dr - The biggest shipping corporations in the world are refusing to transit the Bab el Mandeb strait, citing concern that their ships will be damaged. This includes Maersk vessels who currently have a contract for US Navy escort, and still do not feel safe enough making that run. Something like 12% of global trade needs to be rerouted and will experience delays. BP is the first supermajor oil company to say they won't make the transit. Expect gas prices to go up. Pretty wild that the Houthis are able to accomplish this.

Biden refuses to attack the source of the missiles and drones and would rather just 'shoot them down'.  He's an incompetent loser.

"wild" ? Iran is supplying them with missiles. Easy to accomplish - because biden is an incompetent liar and a cowardly fraud.

this wh refuses to lead - refuses to make any legit decision. We are leaderless, and western countries look to us for leadership.

meaning, russia invades the Ukraine and will invade NATO countries eventually based on some pretext, the war in Israel is exploding, the red sea is a dangerous area, and china is surely going to blockade taiwan.

World war.

and the un does and says nothing.

but the us will follow other countries' lead. maybe, kind of.

The Eisenhower carrier group has been moved from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden and is now just outside the strait where all the piracy happens. There is a 10-nation coalition of navies who are gathering to respond, including Bahrain. Notably absent from this coalition are Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The coalition navy needs to be careful to avoid an HMS Sheffield moment. Ukraine was able to sink the Moskva, Russia's flagship in the Black Sea. The Houthis have plenty of precision missiles and the threat from drones is present. Iran has published drone videos overhead of the Eisenhower during its Red Sea transit.

I have no doubt that if the coalition wanted to level Houthi-controlled Yemen, they could. However, unlike Iraq and Serbia, this time the locals have a puncher's chance of sinking some ships. It would be quite the pyrrhic victory if that were to happen.

Like I said, you need to attack the location of where the missiles are coming from and destroy them.  Otherwise it is fruitless.

De-escalation

!!!

4-day ceasefire truce agreed upon by Hamas and Israel.
50 Israeli hostages held by Hamas to be exchanged for 150 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel

One should correctly draw the distinction between prisoners and hostages.

One should also admit that the prisoners were NOT tortured, raped, starved nearly to death.....

but the hostages WERE.

  • Maersk resumes shipping via Suez after 48h pause, one of their ships predictably gets bombed by Houthis, and now they pause transit of the Red Sea indefinitely. Operation Prosperity Guardian doesn't seem to be reassuring most of the shippers that this lane is safe.
  • Shipping via Red Sea has slowed to a trickle. most ships are now taking the long way around Africa - adding 2000 miles to the trip and increasing transit times by up to a week. This will likely be reflected by increased inflation over the next weeks to months.
  • Sailors of the destroyer USS Carney have been awarded a combat ribbon by the US Navy. This suggests that Houthis were targeting the ships directly. This is at odds with recent Pentagon statements that USN vessels are not being targeted.
  • Bloomberg reporting that Russian seaborne oil exports have ended the year on a high. More evidence that sanctions on Russia have not had the planned effect.

  • Germany and Canada are telling their citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately
  • Hamas leaders got assassinated in a drone strike in Beirut, Lebanon
  • In Iran, 100 people were killed by a bomb when they were attending a service at the grave of General Soleimani (the one Trump ordered killed after they messed with our embassy in Iraq)

there's going to be a bigger war. Our WH is full of pro-hamas, anti-America/Israel activists, and the "president" is happily placating them every time.

Israel dropped a bomb on the house of the Iranian ambassador to Syria, directly adjacent to the Iranian embassy. A brigadier general in the IRGC was among those killed.

This is a clear escalation. I suspect the goal is to get Iran to commit harder so that Israel can get us, the United States, to fight their war for them.

but iran is funding hamas and hezbollah and the houthis...that isn't an "escalation" ?

why does russia support the palestinian/hamas terrorists?

A distraction to the us to go forward to wwiii.

russia did the same rapes, tortures, mass murders, beheadings and kidnappings in the Ukraine as hamas/palestinians/13 members of the UN org....did in Israel.

But Vapor thinks we should not support Israel.

Bombing a country's consulate isn't an escalation? I would like whatever you are smoking.

Other interesting happenings in the past 48 hours

  • Massive anti-Netanyahu protest in Jerusalem leading to the Knesset being invaded by families of Israeli hostages, demanding something be done to get them back
  • Attack on a military outpost in Iran, near the Pakistan border. 30ish Iranian military reported to have been killed.
  • GPS being jammed more than usual in Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan

WAIT. Be consistent, inconsistent one. I thought you demanded PROOF in video form - that is how you denied the atrocities committed by palestinians/hamas in Israel, including beheading and burning babies alive in front of their parents. Then they murdered the parents.

But now, you want to parrot with no proof?

Israel said it was no consulate.

*********************************

1 day agoIsrael's military said it does not comment on foreign reports, but a military spokesperson said Israeli intelligence suggested the building was not a consulate nor embassy but a military building
***************************
You know, like they found weapons in the HOSPITAL DIRECTOR'S OFFICE, AND IN THE TWO ADJACENT HAMAS ROOMS.
So, the next time you lament the plight of the palestinians, try to remember that

their own gov, hamas terrorists, took all that foreign aid, and bought weapons and built a couple hundred miles of deep tunnels for terrorism/wars.

In effect, your paliestinians you favor so much have always been their own worst enemy, and their terrorist gov is another one.
and their blind, cultural blind hatred for the Jews and Israel has self-destructed their futures for generations.

    Not israel's fault at all.
