I've heard rattlesnake tastes like chicken- but I'm not about to try any....

Actually Ag, in my trips out west and up to Alaska I did find out some game is ok.  Like Elk or reindeer in very limited bites. Still just no to my Alaska pal's alderwood smoked salmon though.....

We're going to Texas for Granddaughter's HS graduation in May/June & I am DETERMINED to find a restaurant that serves rattlesnake. It's on my bucket list of things to eat.

Well I had my homemade chili for dinner with fresh green beans with real half fried bacon bits for a snack during the first half.

Chili recipe is simple: Each can is approx. 1 lb. net wt.

1 1/2 lbs. browned lowest fat hamburger you can find

    1 can Contadina tomato sauce

1 can Goya pinto beans---WHAAT? in TEXAS? BEANS in chili?

1 can Hunts Petite Diced tomatoes

1 large fresh red and 1 large fresh green pepper both diced to 1/2 inch squares

    2/3 cup diced fresh onion

1 Tablespoon chili powder (more if you want it a little spicier)

Throw them all in a crock pot for about 6-7 hours

Bill, You're goin' to hell for sure!

Wow. Somewhere in my head I thought people were past the idea of giving a shit if someone was a man or a woman in charge, but clearly chauvinism is prevalent everywhere.

IMOP, her role is to make sure everyone is on the same page with everything from meetings, to trips, to equipment to analytical data, etc. She is the organization behind the chaos that occurs when you have to run a team. She takes care of the minutia so that Stefanski doesn't have to deal with it. This is why it's such an important role. There are so many things going on from a week to week basis that has absolutely nothing to do with the game but is critical to how the team is run. I have worked on the medical side of football for almost 20 years and I can tell you, especially away games, it takes an extremely large amount of communication to ensure that everyone has what they need. And that is just one aspect! Stefanski can focus on the FB aspect of the game. She can focus on the other parts. It's equally beneficial. She learns how to develop a program and how a team is run, and he can delegate through her. She's going to learn things about how to run an organization more than she is going to learn about the X and Os.

Great hire. Wish Freddie would have been forward thinking enough to have a position like this...

Thanks Big! I was curious as to what her duties may be, but your explanation (I know, it's your opinion) clears the air for me as to the type of duties the position may entail, the value to Stefanski, AND how positively it impacts her growth.

And what did Ryan Tannehill come back from.? I didn’t think just because you sucked in previous years and did well next year that you got to come back player of the year. I thought you had to come back from an injury or something else that basically kept you out of the game. Not just suck étude

Gip, I agree with you. I thought Jimmy Garoppolo had that award wrapped up as he came back from injury, but I was WRONG. Tannehill gets it & only played 13 games.

Between the two of choose the lighter fare.  I've been munching on  sharp cheddar, cojack and Swiss guyere with salami and crackers for a late snack this week. Ummmm, cheese. :D

    Oh YEAH!

Here's a hint for cheese lovers, if you ever shop at BJ's (the only place I've seen it). They have bags of individually vacuum wrapped planks of fantastic sharp cheddar...it is called "Seriously Sharp" by Cabot. Not only is it a favorite of mine, but it's a favorite at my parties, in my snack cooler that I carry for the patients I transport, tailgates, fishing, etc.

You guys just have a fear of Crime lords and "Avocado-hand". 😱

    From "Morning Brew":

Avocados Fell in With the Wrong Crowd

    Avocados

We know avocados aren’t typically considered a “dangerous” fruit (like peaches). But we’ve got some news...

Avocado crime is on the rise. Mexican criminal gangs facing a lull in the drug business have turned to avocado theft, the FT reports. Their main target: the dozen trucks an hour leaving Mexico’s avocado belt for the U.S.

Zoom out: The Mexican avocado industry is growing at a healthy clip. Sales to the U.S., the largest importer of Mexican avocados, bring in almost $2 billion annually.

    • Avo demand spikes right before the Super Bowl. The Hass Avocado Board said we’ll consume 153 million pounds of the good fat during tomorrow’s game.
    • Two weeks ago, Mexican avocado exports to the U.S. had their best week ever

+ Bonus avocado content: The WSJ explores the rise of “avocado-hand,” the act of stabbing or slicing yourself while de-pitting an avocado. More than half of the 50,413 reported avocado-related injuries from 1998–2017 have happened since 2013.

So WHAT!! I STILL don't like 'em & I don't give a damn WHERE they came from....quoting my 22 month old Grandson, "YUK"!!  :D

So, for those keeping score at home...

The Browns have Paul DePodesta in a position no one seems to be able to define.

They have a first-time, 32 year old GM in Adam Berry.

They have a first-time in any capacity, 37 year old HC in Kevin Stefanski.

They have a first-time OC in Alex Van Pelt.

They have a first-time DC in Joe Woods.

All overseen by Jimmy and Dee Haslam.

To add to others, Joe Woods WAS a DC in Denver.

Dutch, obviously your research prior to the post could have used analytics to assure your information was correct.

  8. To quote Dr King..."I have a dream.."....That dream is that folks on this board STOP constantly dwelling on past failures & look forward with hope to our future. We are (allegedly) Browns FANS....I can't speak for anyone else, but I plan to continue to support the Browns as if a marriage..."From this day forward, for better or for worse, etc" & I look at tomorrow & every day as THIS DAY. You'll never reach your destination looking only in the rear view mirror.

Sorry for the rant, but 1-31 is DEAD & GONE!

I actually think the announcement might be an NFL thing. They probably want anything football related to not be done the week of the Super Bowl to prevent it from drawing away any attention. It's as stupid as the coaches from SB teams can not be named head coach thing.

Curious, what happens if the "brain trust" works this time? It is a completely different set of circumstances than what it was during the Sashi era.  What will it take people to convince them that this is a success? Division winner? playoffs? SB? SB win? I'm just curious because I think this is going to be the most successful regime the Browns have had in 20 years but I'm in the minority on this board. People are going to lose their heads if they trade down in the first round of the draft even IF it is the correct football move.

I agree with you to a large extent. Personally, I can live with a delayed announcement about Berry during Super Bowl week, but the Coach thing is ridiculous.

It really IS a far different circumstance this time & I also believe our hierarchy will be more cohesive than in the past. Definitely a "change in culture" taking place.

Count me as one who is concerned about what we do in free agency & the draft. Admittedly, I do fear drafting strictly for "need" (questionable LT) or trading down if there is a far superior "best player available" when we come up in draft order. Of course, a lot of what we do in the draft will depend upon free agency, so we'll have to wait & see.

    Mike

  10. Glad they got their guy at GM & things seem to be aligning. Now we can just wait & see what happens during the trading, free agency, & draft periods. I can't (and won't) judge Berry by  the 1-31 past when he was here...the talent situation on the Browns is FAR different, so I',ll just say...Canton Mike Now, on to OC & DC?

    Mike

ps: I heard on radio today that Berry would be announced after the Super Bowl.No idea how accurate/inaccurate that may be.

  11. Good for Luke! Like Jimmy Brown, he left STILL being respected for his "on field" play. I applaud both. Their legacies as players are totally positive & lasting.

It's sad watching players lessen their legacy by playing long past their prime.

I remember how Jimmy left me wanting to see more of his great play, but my memories of his play are nothing but great. Kuechly has left his Fans with the same.

    Mike

  12. Admittedly, I previously had an ignorant perception of analytics & this hire. I learned a hell of a lot after listening to both Stefanski's & DePodesta's pressers. Both gave me "meat & potatoes" answers that were easily understood & professionally/intelligently presented.

Color me "SOLD". I want to see the rest of the staff (officially), but Jimmy (who has always wanted a winner & been willing to change) may have hit on these 2 guys.

Nickers, I've got your back. Analytics, like computers, are great tools. However, if you become totally dependent on them, you have problems.
