Agree 100%. Dress for the tailgate and weather. Yeah, those windy days can be tough, but if we are still here after all the years of crap, we aren't going anywhere.
In 2007 I took my (at the time) 12 year old son to St. Louis to watch the Browns/Rams game. It was boring sitting in a dome.Felt like a movie theater.
Went to Jerry's Palace in 2012, Browns/Cowboys. While it's not a true "dome," it is pretty darn close. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with that stadium at all. I found myself looking at the giant TV too much (and bitching about Brandon Weeden lol...who throws a ball into the bleachers on 4th and goal from the 3?).
Went to Phoenix this year, Browns/Cardinals. Funny, I completely agree they need a dome, it's way to hot down there, but once again, just an odd atmosphere.
Our problem in Cleveland is simply our sports teams owners are all mixed up. Dolan needs to own an NBA or NFL team with a salary cap. Gilbert or Haslam should own the Tribe, they'd ante up for Lindor.
Great post Bob!! Your last statements about owners & Lindor are PERFECT!!

The TE position is the one position on the Browns that concerns me most. We'll address OT & safety. I just hope we can finally land a good, COMPLETE TE...one who blocks, runs good routes, & CATCHES the ball. Obviously, I'm not as sold on Njoku as some others are.
We'll know more in the next 2 or 3 months.

I'll not argue that a retractable dome may bring Super Bowls & other events to Cleveland but, as a 73 year old Browns' Fan & Season Ticket Member, I prefer football played "in the elements". I really can't imagine sitting "inside" at a football game. It just doesn't seem natural to me.
Bottom line is that, no matter what, I'm all in as a Browns' Fan for the rest of my life.

As a season ticket holder Tour, I'll go with JJ Watt and give a hard pass on a17th game. The owners are only interested in the extra $$$ they can extort from the fans, and to hell with player saftey.
And it's certainly possible to have Gipper's rivalry game even with a 16 game schedule.
AMEN!

It's early, but I like what I hear, specifically how Van Pelt is going to hammer Baker about his footwork. That's going to be key for reducing those awful high throws.
I like it too. Imagine that...Browns Coaches who are preaching & teaching fundamentals...FINALLY!!!

...but, but, but he was a Combine STANDOUT! (surely, a day or 2 at the Combine should override a season or more of college play)
.....and folks wonder why I want to draft "I & I" (Intelligence & Intensity) over "F & S" (Fast & Stupid)!!

I agree Columbus would more likely be the city to get an XFL team but Canton would be a sentimental favorite for me. I would love to see it happen for Canton but no doubt they would go for the larger Columbus market.
Agreed, but IF Canton got a team & it was named the BULLDOGS, the stadium would be PACKED & this area would definitely support the Team. No other Pro team or major college program splitting interest. The official beer could be Thirsty Dog Brewery's "Old Leghumper"!!

aka 'another voice in the room'.. I listened to a Joe Schobert interview yesterday on nfl radio..joe has 2 daughters & expecting a 3rd any day now. gender they never know. He spoke like the browns were already in his past. Still works out in facility, but said Berry is scrambling getting staffs set-up but has been in contact with Joe's agent.. I say this, to say this..
As we all know this time of year, we will certainly get nothing much from a GM on their future plans.. GM's have to be more careful leaking talks to players agents. But they happen & some on purpose & Eliot Wolfe was JD's right hand man at this... kinda leads me to why a person like Grigson was maybe needed now by Berry? If your a few million short on getting Schobert signed? How could Berry get any straight answers from that same agent on any of his other LB's that are possibly available & real cost? am not saying Grigson was the right guy by no means, but am guessing Grigson still knows most these agents to get some FA & pro personal leads.. Sounds to me, Berry has had a full plate & knows the Combine is where Deals illegally get done.. or lots just don't.. we shall see.. and btw, Happy Valentines Day Gents...Now go play Cupid 💘
You're right Gum. We really don't know what Grigson will be doing or what strengths of his may be utilized & how, so I'll just take a wait & see on all these happenings.

Probably the same reason I do, which I can't really describe, other than I consider him a young man of extremely high character.

The Browns Hire Asshat Grigson Back As Consultant!
That's absolutely brilliant! When you don't know what to do, you consult with Grigson and do the opposite. Simple!
That's pretty close to what I was thinking.

I have to admit that, as optimistic and positive a Browns Fan as I am, I am NOT happy that HE was brought back. I guess we'll see what happens.

We are starting to see a whole new crew from top to bottam at work, so we'll just have to learn how they handle things as far as signings, cuts, free agency, & the draft go.
Here are my thoughts....

Do we even have a playbook right now?
1 hour ago, Orion said:I truly doubt it.
To quote James Garner as Brett in the old Maverick TV series when asked how something was going, he sat there whittling a piece of wood, smiled & said, "I'm workin' on it boys. I'm workin' on it."
I'll never forget that line. I think it applies well to the playbook.

Great news! I had predicted he would remain suspended for our 1st 2 games this year. It not only pleases me to say "I was wrong", but to have positive resolution speaks well of Myles AND the NFL.
This is a very positive start in 2020.

This is a totally different XFL than it was many years ago. Yes, Vince McMahn is still the money behind it, but they actually have some creative ideas to help keep the games interesting.
Gone are the WWE style games. It's going to be more traditional in that sense. However, there are differences. I will tune in for at least a couple of games because i like some of the tweaks they are making and I think they will make it into the NFL.
No more extra points.
1 point: Run a play from the 2-yard line
2 points: Run a play from the 5-yard line
3 points: Run a play from the 10-yard line
kick-off is different
Both teams line up on the receiving teams, 30 yard line. No one can move until the player receiving the ball catches it or it is on the ground for 3 seconds. Then, it's game on. This encourages kick off returns but decreases the velocity
overtime
Overtime shall consist of 5 “Rounds”, staged in alternating single-play possessions as is customary in NHL shootouts or MLS penalty kicks. A “Round” will consist of one offensive play per team. Each possession starts at the opponent’s 5-yard line and the offensive team has one play to score. The team with more points after 5 rounds is the winner.
Referees
Referees are all mic'd and there is a "sky judge" who can buzz down to overrule calls
Double forward pass: "If a team completes a forward pass behind the line of scrimmage, that team may throw a second forward pass, as long as the ball has at no time crossed the line of scrimmage. ... Once the ball has passed the line of scrimmage, no forward passes are permitted." This is something that's not allowed in the NFL or college football, so it could lead to some interesting play designs. But overall, it's a fairly minor rule that we'd only expect to see a few times throughout the season.
Much faster play clock: The XFL has a 25-second play clock compared to the NFL's 40-second play clock. A difference of 15 seconds may not sound like a lot, but this change will definitely be felt on the field. Expect a much faster pace of play as teams must hurry up their play calling. Something to note, however, is the NFL clock starts once the play is ended and the XFL's clock starts once the ball is spotted for play.
Comeback period: During the 2-minute warning (the final two minutes of the second and fourth quarter), there are a few tweaks to allow teams more time to come back, hence "comeback period." From the XFL, "On plays that end in the field of play, the game clock will be stopped until the ball has been spotted and 5 seconds have run off of the play clock." This makes it so a team cannot run the clock out until there is only one minute remaining (assuming the opposing team has no timeouts). In the NFL, a team can run the clock out when there are two minutes remaining.
Running game clock: "Outside the last 2 minutes of each half, the game clock will run after incompletions and out of bounds plays." This will take some getting used to for football fans, but the objective is to just make games go as quickly as possible.
Teams have two timeouts per half instead of three: Another pace of play change, less timeouts equals faster games.
Players need just one foot in bounds instead of two: Yet another pace of play rule, makes it easier to determine catches, leading to faster reviews.
I had NO interest in the XFL, but some of the "tweaks" you stated they utilize are interesting. I bolded & enlarged those that interest me.Thanks Big!

And if there is one chink in Chubb's game, I think it might be his ability to pound the ball into the endzone from short range.
I'm not so sure. It was (IMHO) all about scheme. Any back is in trouble when the ball is on the 1 or 2 yard line & the handoff is at the 5 or 6. The yardline may have been "short range", but where he got the ball was 4-5 yards BEHIND the line of scrimmage.

Tony apologizes...
CLEVELAND (WJW) — ESPN Cleveland 850’s Tony Grossi was suspended over a comment he made about Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield on Tuesday at the NFL Combine.
Grossi, over a hot mic, reportedly referred to Mayfield as a “f***ing m*****.”
A short time after his suspension was announced, Grossi tweeted a statement, saying he’s “truly sorry” for his “choice of words.” (My take: "Truly sorry for getting caught")
“I sincerely apologize for using a word that is a derogatory slur. There’s no excuse for using that language in any context. It was said without malice but also without thought.” (My take: Without malice my ass, you chicken shit!)
He went on to say he will “strive to be a better person and professional.” (My take: HAHA! In your next life Tony!)
Grossi apologized to Baker Mayfield, the Cleveland Browns, little people, Good Karma Brands and to his listeners. (My take: I'll bet he pee'd his pants while doing so!)
