  1. If we got Hopkins, one of the offseason acquisitions wouldn't make the roster.. that may be the situation anyway: Tillman DPJ Cooper Bell Moore Goodwin Not even a roster spot for Woods or Grant.. I think Schwartz is already gone before any discussion of Hopkins. Of course they could keep 7 now that I say that, but I'd rather give an extra spot to LB so we don't have to play street free agents this season. When was the last time you could have confidence in every WR in the room that wasn't wish-casting and alcohol?
  2. Once you get appropriately pissed at your service provider for acting like a monopolist and raising prices while decreasing the quality of your service, you may be ready for: This link is the collection of game streams that used to be on Reddit.. PM me and I'll show you how to both install an ad blocker and close the ads so you can watch the games. It may not be the same experience you're used to, but for $150/mo, I'll close a few ads.
  3. also about the LB play -- every down Jacob Phillips sees is a wasted down. Phillips could be decent at ST but that's not what you want out of a rd3 pick. Fields was actually recognizing and doing better in passpro and fits second half of last season than Phillips ever did. You can do a lot worse with the final rostered LB who gets snaps.. He was projected as the "poor man's JOK" in that draft and that's nearly exactly what he's developed into.
  4. PSU's Sean Clifford had the same career "length" as Bennett -- arrive at Penn State in 2017, graduate in 2022.
  5. Kollmann on WR's -- 49:33
  6. Just a reminder that Berry was able to turn one 2023 second-round pick into 2 good-to-great WR's. An un-injured Tillman would have gone substantially higher than where we got him.. he was the better WR on vols last year and most projections had him in rd2 anyway. Could do a lot worse than having as an "NFL Comp" a 2022 pro bowl alternate last season despite bad QB play -- IND's Pittman. Fun with draft comps on NFL.com: Zay Flowers comp was Travis Benjamin, Elijah Moore's comp was Antonio Brown, JSN's comp was Jarvis Landry Also to anyone who "rather would have had Hyatt" -- Hyatt went in the 3rd because NFL teams viewed him as having less of a route tree than Tillman and having less skill vs press [hyatt is 170, tillman is 215]. Hyatt actually didn't slide -- Tillman did due to injury.
  7. Total details released on ZDS trade ZDS cap charge for 2023: About 3M. So we got 10+ sacks for 3M and a 5th round pick. This is the kind of trade you get playing Madden on Easy. PFF Live mentioned that Vikes were able to remove the final year [2024] of ZDS contract which was a 20M charge to get the space to sign Davenport, who had only half a sack in 15 games last year for some reason.
  8. The name was Brent Venables on D. Dabo's O fell apart the last 2-3 yrs bc he wasn't good at ID'ing appropriate replacements for the coaches that won the 16 and 18 titles. Swinney just hired Garrett Riley who is good enough to bring them back. To be clear he fired the guys he had internally promoted who were at lower-level jobs during 16 and 18.. this is pretty bad because he really should have known their capabilities better -- he'd already worked with them for years. The most important skill of HC's both in college and pros is the identification [and hiring] of a good next staffer.. Bama's O was terrible last season because they employed Josh Gattis; if Tommy Rees isn't very good [and I don't think he is] then we may be seeing the "end" of the Bama dynasty because that would mean 2 pretty bad hires in consecutive years. I happen to think Day will be just fine the next 3-4 years.. his most recent hire of Little Animal as a grad assistant is already paying recruiting dividends but the bigger question is if he can actually coach.
  9. Aren't you happy we spent a second-round pick on a DE whose top pass-disruption skill is something normally mentioned as a skill of 300# plugger DT's? This is fine. Follow-up question: Should Alex Wright be a professional football player in 2023? Looking like there's one roster spot for both him and Thomas.
  10. I haven't looked at Browns cap situation lately, but the idea of leaving about 10 free each year to take on someone else's talented edge salary dump is pretty good. In March 2017 Browns took on the 2018 15M salary of Brock Osweiler because Houston also gave Cleveland 2017 rd6 and 2018 rd2 picks. In 2017 Houston went 4-12 and Cleveland was 0-fer. That second round pick from Houston was Nick Chubb. [The earlier second round pick, Austin Corbett, was Cleveland's original rd2]
  11. I for one will miss those two 5th round picks which fell all the way to the 6th round. Instead of 10 sacks next year, we could've had a backup rugby-style punter and the best left-handed practice squad long snapper in the game!
  12. PFF discussion of Dawand Even if Dawand doesn't start at RT on day 1... wouldn't it be fun to see him running a corner route in the red zone package at 6'9 400#? If your dream is to play in the NBA, show me, big fella..
  13. PFF draft analysis today included their comment that Tillman's ability to decelerate is elite
  14. I hope Dawand accepts that he needs to put in the work if he wants to get where he thinks he already is. Per Menace2Sports [that's the daily podcast of the guy who was Urban's WR coach & still has connections], the last year inside the Woody, to describe Dawand as entitled is an understatement. Here's betting they put a fine in his contract for every day he's overweight..
  15. PFF analysis of draft picks Tillman Tillman was among the few top prospects with prototypical X measurables. He has good size, he is physical and he attacks the football in the air. With the additions of Tillman and the trade for Elijah Moore, Deshaun Watson will have more options in the passing game entering his second season with the team. Ika The Browns have made it a priority to improve the interior of their defensive line this offseason, and they continue that with the addition of Ika here. A mountain of a man at 358 pounds, he isn’t just a run defender, registering a 76.4 PFF pass-rushing grade in 2022. Jones There were questions about Jones’ conditioning/commitment that likely contributed to his slide down boards, but there’s a lot of reason to bet on Jones’ talent at this stage of the draft. His size and length afford him room for error, and he has enough movement ability at his size to have success as a starter. Jones earned 80-plus PFF grades as the Buckeyes’ starting right tackle in each of the last two seasons. McGuire Cleveland adds a good power rusher to complement Myles Garrett. He has NFL size and power with the potential to be a plus run defender. Despite average burst off the edge, he put up an 84.5 true pass-rush grade in 2022. DTR Thompson-Robinson is the definition of a “gamer,” a classic football cliche, with the desire to make something out of nothing on seemingly every snap. This can work against him, of course, with a lot of turnover-worthy plays as a result. However, his 77.4% adjusted completion percentage ranked 15th in college football and he offers great rushing ability. Mitchell Cleveland adds another Northwestern cornerback on top of 2021 first-rounder Greg Newsome II. Mitchell did well to match wide receivers stride for stride in trail technique in college, and he’s a willing tackler with a 76.0 run-defense grade. Wypler Wypler was the 54th-ranked player on the PFF big board, making this one of the better value selections in the draft in our eyes. He earned 79.0-plus PFF grades in each of his seasons as a starter for the Buckeyes, excelling as a zone run blocker (89th percentile over the last two seasons) specifically. Pair that with plus athleticism, and this looks like a steal for Cleveland.
  16. Mond may be a marginally better passer, but DTR can run the same offense as DW and is one of the generally consensus late-round projections to eventually start from this draft. It's not a terrible pick
  17. I can't remember when Browns UDFA list was this targeted, but glad to see they're doing bottom-roster churn. This is the totality of the list so far RB Hassan Hall, Georgia Tech - $125,000 guaranteed EDGE Lonnie Phelps, Kansas State EDGE Mohamoud Diabate, Utah - $250,000 guaranteed EDGE Jeremiah Martin, Washington S Ronnie Hickman, Ohio State S Charlie Thomas, Georgia Tech CB Tanner McAllister, Ohio State CB Amos Cormier, Georgia State CB Caleb Biggers, Boise State
  18. Mitchell's NFL attribute, however, is short-area quickness which to this poster suggests slot corner.. "speed" isn't really what you want other than for go routes -- if raw speed was pertinent, Jacob Phillips would be good at pass defense..
  19. Trade w BAL was our 7th this yr for their 6th next yr. Current 2024 picks: 1x in rounds 2 and 3 2x in rounds 5 and 6 and 7
  20. Looks like we traded out of round 7 to Baltimore. Straight swap of 7 this year for Baltimore's 6 next yr. Hope they're using the extra time to start calling the UDFA's. Always use another AJGreen. 2024 picks at present Round 2 - 1 pick Round 3 - 1 pick Round 5 - 2 picks Round 6 - 2 picks Round 7 - 2 picks
  21. 2023 is the last season he's under contract and I bet won't get resigned
  22. Browns take Wypler to go with Dawand Gives them another starting option - also if they get tired of Pocic's salary
  23. Can't find online article linking it, but yesterday PFF room was saying the reason he fell is that Dawand showed up to the combine overweight and was unwilling to answer questions from teams. Could be total smoke but curious to verify. Hopefully he'll have a good attitude when he shows up because if he's bought in, could be a good replacement for either OT.
  24. OBR wrapup podcast has some good points: 1) Tillman was analyst [prior player] Steve Smith's top WR sleeper in the draft 2) Tillman could be AC replacement if they choose to resign DPJ and let AC walk 3) Our long national nightmare of Anthony Schwartz is over -- Bell is somehow WR5 now 4) One of Tillman's weaknesses is releases.. One of the NFL's release gurus is Amari Cooper
