  1. After somehow picking both of these, PM me for tomorrow's lottery numbers
  2. I'm learning more about the players from the 4 guys in the PFF room live on YouTube than the ESPN slobbering
  3. And we have the first pick that silenced the entire room at PFF -- OLB Johnson to CAR was about 2 rounds early.
  4. cedric tillman analysis -- Not really a deep threat but unless you're playing Xbox, not every throw is a go route
  5. Any of Cedric Tillman // the Northwestern DE // Ji'Ayir Brown
  6. EAGLES RECEIVE: No. 65, No. 188, No. 230 TEXANS RECEIVE: No. 62
  7. I can't believe will levis is in the first 3 rounds of this draft -- He's terrible at the position of QB. When he was on the Browns, he was named Spergon Wynn. Reality check that was never mentioned by the talking heads: The reason he was at Kentucky is because he couldn't beat out Penn State's Sean Clifford who i'm pretty sure was a freshman when I finished grad school in 2005. Clifford wasn't any good then and Levis was.. somehow less than that. Also, @tiamat63, if you want to amuse yourself watching someone with less technique pre-draft than alex wright, check out keion white.. I wonder how much patience Belichick will have with him. Technique development is why other sports have levels below the pros..
  8. ESPN draft analysis claims Zay is most similar to current NFL player Elijah Moore.
  9. In an ideal world.. The draft would provide 1 or 2 immediate starters and immediate depth at 3-4 additional positions. Further, the depth should be able to grow into starter role in 2-3 seasons. Only way a draft could actually fix anything is with multiple picks in the first 2-3 rounds.. and generally at least one pick will be a bust. This is the draft outlook that a team that constantly makes the playoffs has to adopt. One draft won't "fix everything" unless you already have the OL and DL and only need to draft a WR late in the first to take the top off. You know, the 49ers just before the 1985 draft.
  10. It means generally that he's immature and specifically that he cannot control his emotions. In the NFL as with all sports you need to be able to control yourself - not get PF's for fighting, not get offsides penalties, etc. This doesn't just put the longevity of his NFL career in question but also makes me wonder if he is able to maintain gainful employment for more than 6 consecutive months as an adult after his time in the NFL ends. It's a big character flaw of PW - period dot, full stop, do not pass go. And it's just one piece in the puzzle. He's late to work, he's falling asleep at work, he's not learning the content that work requires him to execute, he's assaulting people nominally "in his life" ... This is a person who's been coddled since birth because it's always easier to pass him than call him out. What will it take for him to change? My guess is the same thing that it takes an addict --- recognition that where he is at present could be taken away if he doesn't step up.
  11. Tendered this guy late last week. Exactly what you look for in your end-of-the roster ST guys. Signed early last year from Bears PS, somehow played in 7 games and I never heard of him. Now do that again with DI..
  12. Ford also didn't get as much college usage as some of these multi-year starters even though he was just as high of a prospect. Hopefully Ford will have a longer RB career than others.
  13. Outside of OL and arguably DL, every room moving forward [as with all good teams]: One top-paid guy // One veteran contract at some level // 2 rookie deals. Maybe something additional if cap money is around. And with Cooper's salary.. that would be a no. I'm not sure what the question here is. DPJ and Bell and now Moore are on rookie deals, Cooper is deservedly the #1. Not bringing any anyone else gives us some flexibility to handle other positions -- hopefully DL, arguably the worst position group in the entire NFL last season. Letting DPJ walk would mean committing to drafting WR relatively high about every year because we're not going to get a solid WR2 on day3 for a while. Woods is.. no DPJ. Im OK with that plan. Bell at WR4 this year, Moore WR3.. seems about right, and pretty good. Move them up one in 2024 and draft another WR in rd3 of the 2024 draft. Also.. what precisely would another receiver give us that Bell didn't last season? A second guy who's unquestionably open for the QB to ignore before he throws his -1 yard checkdown?
  14. Good writeup of 6 non-Browns offseasons And let's stop the "we won the offseason"s now.. Sure, being better at our weaknesses is good stuff, but the thing missing so far that is present in each of these 6: Quality vet signings at each weakness position for 1yr/under $6 who are only backups. Focus now on the depth, we know the injuries will happen..
  15. An edge prospect I hadn't seen before was mocked to us in round 3 by Charlie over at WalterFootball. @tiamat63 have you looked at Auburn's Derick Hall before? TDN thinks he's first-round apparently.
  16. Ignore CBSsports mockdrafts.. I read the most recent one so you don't have to. They have Berry in the 3rd taking a small non-explosive RB and a 5th-round DL. These mocks that pick 3,4 teams they don't like and predict they'll select random unskilled guys Because Reasons are a waste.
  17. The RAS posted above for those two end-of-the-bench WR's has one thing in common.. The reason those guys are barely rosterable isn't their deep/long speed but rather their inability to beat coverage. The red for both at the bottom [3-cone and shuttle] describes their lack of quickness both into and out of their breaks. This means that no matter the height of the CB's covering them.. those guys won't be open at any point on the field unless somebody falls down. For contrast, Elijah Moore's RAS is elite in those areas.
  18. Fields may very well be that long-term moderately-priced LB2. He'll outplay JOK every 3rd week. He already seems one of the draft-day-3 hits that we need to string together to be successful long-term. Fields, DPJ, AJGreen.. Here's hoping one of Woods / Thomas / Jerome Ford becomes useful.
  19. Fields should be LB4 over Phillips -- We know who Jacob is, and it's not great. JOK/Walker to start, Taki first backup at both spots, and Fields has performed better than JP in his opportunities to date. Perhaps they'll go with only 4 LB's, but given last season's injuries I'd find that hard to believe. I'm not sure we can do better than JP at LB5 without using one of those day2 picks. Perhaps a day3 flier and go with the rookie both looking to the future and cap savings over JP?
  20. Maurice Hurst, Trysten Hill, and Dalvin to go along with Winfrey and another one on PS could make for a decent IDL.. if the dice rolls work. Hurst may be the PS guy - he played only 40 snaps in 2021 and zero last season, he could be done. Hill is a former second-round pick who busted with the Cowboys and couldn't do anything with the Cards last season.. he could also be a zero as well. Those two appear to be the 2023 roll-the-dice signings like last season's Malik McDowell.. IMHO these guys are brought to compete with TT and Elliot and may just turn out to be camp bodies. Don't be shocked if IDL is still a pick in round 3 and Winfrey is the second starter.
  21. I don't see downside to this move. He's better than the current WR3 and WR4 on the roster, and he's better than any WR who would have been available if we'd used the "entire" second-round pick on a WR. Moore played 30% of his snaps [scroll down, right outside+left outside] last season outside - he can be WR2 as well. Sure, he's not "The Savior" - because no savior exists. The roster is improved only small-move-by-small-move. Bell was our WR3 last season based on snaps -- and even if the same 3 plus Moore rotate, the fact that Moore is better at achieving separation will generate better results for all the WR's because now you can't ignore our WR3.. or shut him down with a backup linebacker. Fun fact: DPJ lined up more in the slot last season [same link above] than he did outside. Is he "A Slot Receiver?" No - Like Moore, he's a receiver. They line up wherever they're asked..
  22. Great move.. Upgrades at every position are always important, and today WR3 and therefore also WR4 are better than they were yesterday.
  23. Baker's biggest problem is that when he knows what's going on, he sucks. He's on TB now, so don't pick Mike Evans before round 4 in next season's FF drafts. I'll be very happy if Mazi Smith fell in the draft. But he'll likely get picked late in the first.. unless someone watches no tape of Brian Bresee and somehow picks BB instead in round1. Keion White is an intriguing 280# DE who won't go much further than our spot in round 2 - but I'm tired of drafting Toolsy Prospects Who Can Cover RB's On Wheel Routes. Zach Pickens is someone I'd think about if we trade back from our spot in round 2 into something later round 2 / first few in round 3.
