Obviously there's a lot of smoke...so there's probably some fire somewhere there.  But by the same token, whatever he said, suggested or did has probably been done by many others before and since.  But the others aren't worth suing.

Hilariously ridiculous....maybe all the white QBs keep letting them down so they're trying something else??lol....or maybe...just maybe... you didn't notice that all the quarterbacks are tall, mobile with big arms and 2 of them have solid resumes and 3 of the 4 were very inexpensive?

ah. then why are they not with their same teams, eh? go figure..... How about DRAFTING a tall, big armed qb dammit?

Yeah, for us peons that's a lot of money... But It's also before taxes.  Wonder how guys like Watson shelter that money from the IRS? Top federal rate 37%, Ohio 3.6%, Cleveland 2.5% agent 3%...   We're up to 46% and when you're making that much, the amount you can put in an IRA isn't even chump change.  Oh- add in another 1.45% Medicare tax, and there's no limit on how much the uber rich have to keep paying.

Wonder if the IRS will let Deshaun deduct that team junket to the Caribbean as a "business expense".  :)

That's what you have tax guys for besides paying the local taxes in each city you play in.  YES they all want a cut of these big earners pays.

And 37% isn't really as bad as it was in the past up to 90% but I don't worry about them especially with those 000,000s on their game checks.

am concerned about the little guys and gals, I started a tax business long ago and turned it over to a friend and she had done quite well with it.  I also did taxes for over 30 years just quitting about 6+ years ago.   Remember you should be aware of your personal situations and the brackets you are in.  And here they are......

Marginal Rates: For tax year 2022, the top tax rate remains 37% for individual single taxpayers with incomes greater than $539,900 ($647,850 for married couples filing jointly).

The other rates are:
35%, for incomes over $215,950 ($431,900 for married couples filing jointly);
32% for incomes over $170,050 ($340,100 for married couples filing jointly);
24% for incomes over $89,075 ($178,150 for married couples filing jointly);
22% for incomes over $41,775 ($83,550 for married couples filing jointly);
12% for incomes over $10,275 ($20,550 for married couples filing jointly).
The lowest rate is 10% for incomes of single individuals with incomes of $10,275 or less ($20,550 for married couples filing jointly).

Sure.  But we've seen how often that fails or falls woefully short.  But when a guy who's already proven in the league comes available...and he's still young...and he's of that upper tier talent level that you're looking for...well...the Rams did it.  And if we didn't do it he'd probably have become a Saint. (the irony of that).

Going with the proven NFL talent as opposed to drafting a guy has got to be the odds on better choice.  Especially with this past draft class.

All that said, this particular 'proven talent' comes with legal issues which could and probably will result in an availability problem / suspension.  And then you're hoping that he keeps his nose clean for the rest of his football career.   Finally there's the 3 first rounders...but that's what it costs to do business.

How long have we been floundering...drafting bum QB after bum QB?  Do we want to go back to doing that again?  Trying to guess which QB in the draft won't be a flop?  Keep in mind, the organization (along with some of us here) came to the conclusion that Baker was not good enough to take the team where we all want it to go.  - Let's hope they lucked out and are right about Watson.

It hasn't worked yet. How many quarterbacks are drafted every year and how many of them fail? How many of them fail because they aren't very good how many of them would fail because their team sucks? How many of them fail because the front office is fickle and pulls the plug on everything over and over? On the other hand we've had some big tall strong-armed quarterbacks... No cigars.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Watson, but this move seems like it could be more of a sure thing then rolling a dice in the draft.

Yes, the odds of any team finding a prototypical 6' 5"  245 lb franchise quarterback are maybe one every 10-20 years.  Occasionally you will have one of those QB rich drafts but that's more the exception than the rule.

Can you work with a 6' 5" draftee and turn him into a franchise quarterback same odds.  Much easier said than done.

That's why teams spend $×××,×××,××× to land that missing piece of the puzzle.

good points - but with the current Browns fo drafting BRILLIANTLY compared to all the other years.... they won't draft a qb? Dorsey blah was the general manager back then. Berry and co. have been drafting brilliantly since Berry got in, and guess what? they don't spend ONE first round pick on a qb? If sleazy lowlife is the answer, why have the Browns just shaken up their wr group?

   Maybe because the problem hasn't been Baker? maybe the wr group is below par? Like DOUG DIEKEN said? wr's were NOT getting open?

   Simply put:

   I see sleazy as a lowlife. Many, many other people do, too.

The browns have become a lowlife team. The BIGGEST contract EVER? The nfl is big money corrupt at the top.

sorry, but this whole stinkpile makes the browns' FO look like a lowlife bunch at the top.

the hugest contract?

where is watson? no records? Baker set records.

let's see sleazy's career :

SUMMARY

Career

28-25-0 (he has won only three more games than he LOST?)

Cmp%

67.8 (great %)

Yds

14539 (lots of years - Baker has 14,125....)

Y/A

8.3 (8.3? Baker Mayfield has always been in the 7's)

TD

104 (Baker Mayfield has 92, the last year with a broken shoulder)

Int

36 (Baker has 56, a lot more, playing with a broken shoulder and didn't have two first round picks at wr)

****************************************
so, THIS is the giant leap forward to get to the superbowl?
sorry, it won't work, off the field. and on the field, .... will he ever get on it?

anybody want kids wearing a "sleazeball" jersey?

three first round draft picks. hugest guaranteed contract in history?

dammit. If the Panthers sign Baker, I'm rooting for them. And, to be honest, if Baker signs with plenty of other teams, I will tell you I believe Baker will win. So, there ya go.

The Browns traded multiple picks (2022 first, 2023 first and third and 2024 first and fourth round picks) and gave Watson a 5-year, fully-guaranteed $230 contract.

Josie Brandt is a 33-year-old lifelong Browns fan introduced to the team by a father who played college football. She wanted nothing to do with Watson, who she knew was only in play for the Browns ...

The Browns just announced things on Twitter, but to say plenty of their fans are upset would be an understatement. Watson had more than 20 women come out and accuse him of sexual assault, though

I think it is because he has $243 M guaranteed.

If I had $243 M, I'd spend $300,000 on you schleps.

And still have $242.7 M

E. Maybe he feels bad that he got this monster contract   -and-   has caused the city of  Cleveland and the  BROWNS to become the NFL laughingstock in the league.

I'm sure there are more.

GO BROWNS  !

Laughingstock? You do not honestly believe that. We added a top 5 QB in his prime to a squad that was already stacked on both sides of the football. With Watson on the field, every team in the league will be concerned about facing us.

Main questions now are: how many games will we have to go without him, and will the coaching staff be able to get the most out of all this talent? The latter of which is probably my biggest concern.

Go Browns indeed!

That is a nice chart.  Thanks for posting.

While it looks steep today, It probably won't look as steep in a few years.

We keep hearing the cap is going up, though we don't know where that may go.  I suspect the teams have a pretty good idea where things are going, and through the NFLPA, agents have a pretty good idea where things are headed.  That is why you are seeing guys reluctant to sign, or just demanding large numbers now.  Right now Watsons slice of the pic chart may seem out of proportion, but the pie is about to get bigger where his portion will fall in to more of the norm that we are used to.

OK Sunday School is over time to go out and play.   Or go take a nap.

Meanwhile,  we have some really nice T-bones ready to go on the grill.  Spinach salad w/buttermilk ranch, black olives, BP w/butter s&p and sour cream.  Chocolate mouse pie for dessert.  ❤️

Now who didn't see that coming ?   :lol:

NY strip, baked 'tater, broccoli, Pine Club onion rings.  LOL and plenty of wine.  Rombauer chardonnay, Marques de Caceres Rioja Riserva, and a special birthday after dinner treat- a 1992 Taylor Fladgate vintage Port.  :)

Though I don't normally advertise it,  besides our British Browns Backer Gareth Hubbard, I also share a birthday with Jerry West.

And before I get grief from the temperance police, haven't had a drop today- yet.
